I'm planning on doing a journal-type story about a girl who is brought to a dungeon, and the whole thing is about the mindless tasks she does to prevent boredom, and how she becomes insane and sane in on and off periods. What the heck is that? HELP!

You should read both "The Yellow Wall Paper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman (short story) and *The Insanity of Mary Girard: a Dream in One Act* by Lanie Robertson (drama). They might provide some insight into writing sanity (and insanity), particularly Gilman's story, which would help you write a(n) (un)reliable narrator.
Good luck!
