Okay so for the Monument write-ins I was thinking Sunday from 1:00 to 3:30 at It's a Grind like for ScriptFrenzy if that still works for every one, if not I was thinking Tuesday evening. What do you guys think?

Well, folks, despite a full-time job, four kids, two cats, two dogs, holidays, illnesses, and carpal tunnel syndrome, I MADE IT TO 50K!

So I'll take my morning writing session tomorrow off and only do 6K words this weekend. :) The book has about 15K more to go, so I can't stop now. Just have to pause a little.

Here I am at the Powers and N. Carefree Panera, desperately hoping to catch up in my word count by the end of the day. Come join me! I'll be here for several hours (at least) starting now at 10:45 am. I'm sitting at the round table in the back corner (the same area we were in last Saturday night), and I have curly hair and a white Mac that is sekritly a Decepticon. Bitty robots are keeping me company.

The Monthly Hiatus

I just noticed this year that I have a trend of going on hiatus from my novel for a couple days at some point in November. This year I'm just coming out of three days of not writing. Last year I didn't write on the 2nd or 3rd. In 2006 I took most of Thanksgiving off. Do any of you have a similar trend?

Tee shirt update

The shirts are all ordered. According to the tee shirt guru, David, it should take about 2 weeks to get them finished and back, so about 10 working days, of which 2 or three are already gone. But of course we have the holiday right smack dab in the middle of our proposed delivery date and I have an all day craft fair next Saturday. I got a little bored tonight, so I did some math (and for those of you who know me, you know what that means...)

(these are as of 11 PM Nov 14)

Denver has 588 writers, 8,304,158 words with an average of 14,122 per writer.
Boulder has 220 writers, 3,051,949 words with an average of 13,872 per writer,
COS has 216 writers, 3,031,460 words with an average of 14,034 per writer,
Ft. Co has 179 writers, 2,791375 words with an average of 15,594 per writer,
CO Else has 108 writers, 1,414,377 words with an average of 13,096 per writer,
Durango has 49 writers, 757,151 words with an average of 15,329 per writer,
Grand J has 42 writers, 663,444 words with an average of 15,796 per writer,
Greeley has 37 writers, 515,121 words with an average of 13,922 per writer.

This give Colorado a total of 1,439 writers. Our total state word count is 20,523,035 with an average 14,262 words per writer!

THAT'S OVER 410 NOVELS ALREADY!

The Colorado Springs Dare Thread

We had to have it. It's a yearly tradition, even though it sort of fizzled last year.

This dare thread is just for us C. Springs region WriMos, because it's fun to dare people that you might actually see at a write-in once in a while, and because most of us don't have the time to sit and skim the pages and pages of dares in the plot doctoring forum. Keep in mind that we all write in different genres, so posting a variety of dares or slightly more generalized ones are both good ideas.

So! Have at it! I'll post a few to get you started:

*Include a fellow WriMo as a minor character.

*Include a hearse getting gas at a 7-11.

*Include two men juggling while jogging.

*Include this sentence: "He swept me off my feet, and he's never done any sweeping since.

*Have your main character get summoned for jury duty right in the middle of the action.

Rescuing Your Plot

Soaringdragon provided those who attened the first Tuesday night write-in with a wonderful packet of ideas to help out when stuck--it includes plot dares, names, and more.

I've shown this packet to many of you at other write-ins, and several have expressed the desire to have the file. Soaringdragon was gracious enough to give me the adobe files--but I haven't figured out how to put them up here--so if you would like the info, put your name here and I'll send out an email in the next few days with the files. Be sure you have Adobe Reader so you can open them!

Hello again! In case no one knows who I am (and you really shouldn't as this is a new pen name for the new season!) I am/was PhelpsnHamm and I'm here to invite any and all Wrimos to join my roommate Jaina and I for write-ins at my house during the insanity that is November.

We were discussing days of the week and times, and we think that Thursdays are going to work. Times are TBA, and we'll have more concrete ideas for that once we've kicked started November.

Wed 11/18 at the East Library (on Union)

I've always been able to do a lot of good writing at the East Library, so I'm planning to go there tomorrow for a while, if anyone wants to show up and write along.

I'm planning to arrive when they open at 10 am and stay until about 2 pm. You're not supposed to eat there, but you can have covered drinks. (So, I'll probably bring a sandwich with me and pop out to the lobby area, where you are allowed to eat (and they have a coffee/snack kiosk), to eat it at some point.)

Sci-Fi Geeks

Yes, I'm going with the more traditional spelling of sci-fi - just because I like it better.
For those among us that consider themselves sci-fi geeks, here's a web site to be sure to check out. It leans more to superheroes and comics, but also reaches into sci-fi/fantasy.
The owner of the site writes reviews of comic books, established -as well as up and coming and sci-fi books of varying nature. Check it out.
There are sci-fi writing tips from the pros and thought provoking conversation threads, too. Right now members get to vote for their favorite comics for awards presented at a national ceremony in the spring.
You don't HAVE to create a log-in to check out the site, but you'll want to! : )

Double Day Saturday!! November 14th

Is your word count slipping behind? Are you feeling like youmight never catch up? Or maybe you have sailed the daily count but you know your novel will never be done in 50K, and you want more?

No matter what your word count is, it could use a kick in the pants I'm sure! Plus, with our word war with Boulder, WE could use your word count with a kick in the pants :)

SO how are we going to do that? We are going to have a DOUBLE DAY. That means that your goal is to write DOUBLE the average words you do in a day (don't count the zero word days, come on, challenge yourself!). So, just take your word count, divide it by the number of days thus far on which you wrote, and that's your average. Now, multiply it by two (it's simple math, I know many of us quake in the face of math!). This is your word goal for Saturday!

Post here in the morning to let us know your goal, and then post here when you make it (because you will, I know you will!)
