But I'm curious! Where're you from? What do you study / work as? What do you read? What do you write? WHY ARE YOU DOING NANO YOU CRAZY PERSON YOU?</p> <p>Me, I'm from Subang Jaya, went to Taylor's College, and after that Canadaland for a degree in English. I graduated in May with Honours, and a minor in Creative Writing. Currently looking for a job, but not willing to commit yet until I get back from my holiday in Malaysia. I'm also stage manager for a small community play and have produced other plays at my uni, as well as director / fundraiser for my school's production of the Vagina Monologues. </p> <p>I read a lot of non-fiction books on gender politics, pop culture, and other literature-connected stuff. I also read a lot of feminist blogs, and race-related ones. Fiction-wise, I read fantasy and science fiction, but my shelf has a lot of variety since I've never sold a book from my university years. I also buy fantasy and science fiction magazines to read the short stories in them, and I also collect a few manga and comic-book titles - currently collecting <em>The 99</em>, which is a new superhero comic steeped in Islamic culture (and looking excellent and very responsible in its representation of its subject matter).</p> <p>I have done NaNo five times (had to get to the other side of the world from my family before I could write), and won five times, despite having about four papers to write each November for a couple of those years. I've done drama, scifi, fantasy, surrealism, and post-apocalypse themes for NaNo. I also occasionally write short stories in the speculative fiction genre. </p> <p>I do NaNo because it's fun to have other people writing with me for such a protracted period of time, and writing can be a lonely process!
