[Sticky!] TGIO party RSVP list

Just a heads up, on December 5th, 2009, we will be having the official TGIO party in Shinsaibashi, Osaka. Directions will follow when it gets closer to the end of the month, but right now I need a headcount!

DETAILS:

When: December 5th, 2009
TIME: 6:00 (changed from 6:30, a heads up)
Where: Shinsaibashi, Osaka (Midosuji Subway line, Shinsaibashi, Crystal Nagahori Exit)
MEET: If you are coming off the Midosuji, meet me at the Crystal Nagahori Exit. From other places, Shinsaibashi Loft, outside the Starbucks.
WHAT: Mexican food at El Pancho's. Tasty and festive!
Cost: You can eat cheaper for about 1050 if you don't want to drink, but if you want to drink (mostly I mean alcohol here) and eat moderatly, expect 2500~3000 yen dinner.

If that's a little rich for you (and believe me, I understand completely), I also plan to take people who want to stay at the capsule hotel (or aren't worried about trains) to karaoke afterwards. Bringing food to the resturant isn't cool, but sneaking in conbini food and drink to karaoke is ok as long as you are a ninja about it. :3

It's important to RSVP! I will harrass you about it in email as well. Bwahahahaha.

If you want to stay out with us, and are worried about trains, here's a capsule hotel conviniently located in Shinsaibashi:

http://www.asahiplaza.co.jp/capcel/english.html

They are awesome, and this is where I will be staying. Women friendly, and they speak English for those not savvy with Japanese.

Thanks guys, hope to see you there!
----------
If your curious about life in the middle of no-where Japan, I guess I'd be the chick to ask. :3

Another HALO in the Tokyo Bunch!

***Well, in the bunch of those attending the 2nd meeting, a.k.a. the ones I can match a face to their pen name.

  "AAAALELUYA! AAAAALELUYA! ALELUYA! ALEEEELUYAAAA!" :-D

Sang the happy gal while dancing all around her handkerchief-sized garden with her own, born with halo having a hard time trying to stay fit in top of her head.

Yep, she does have a halo, after all, her given name means Angel, no, that is a noun, Angelica is an adjective, but I suspect she rather uses it as a verb :-P
:-D :-D
Snack food of choice

Best Japanese Noveling Fuel?

Pocky, chestnut KitKat, pink Pepsi? What do you think?

Lately, I've been enjoying Citrus tea, the orange-jam type stuff that you mix with boiling water. It's a great energy source and it gives me an excuse to procrastinate while I boil it.
How fast do you type? (test)

***If you are curious to know how much no-sense can be put down in an hour of crazy-non-thinking typing, here is a link where you can find out right away;

       http://www.typeonline.co.uk/typingspeed.php?

I tried 4 times, my best score was 72 wpm, 4,200 wph, six mistakes, coping a text they provide.

Just trying those got me sore fingers though. :-D
Tokyo TGIO Party: Great Mexican Restaurant (suggestion)

*** In all these years I have tried many Mexican restaurants, but the best in absolute is LA FONDA DE LA MADRUGADA in Harajuku because of its food; flavor & variety, Mexican cooks, the decoration with genuine and expensive furniture all imported from Mexico, it's atmosphere that takes you to a Mexican Hacienda and its live music performed by Mexican Mariachi or guitar players.

Like some of you know, I was born in Mexico and in a couple of months will hit my 14th year living in Japan, so, I may know a bit about good Mexican restaurants in Tokyo. ;-D

They open only for dinner, from 17:00 to 2:00 a.m. and have private rooms. Oh, yes! There is a bar with live music, last time I was there the musicians were from Brazil.
Advanced reservations are highly recommended, they are mostly full on weekends.

                              http://www.fonda-m.com/

Hokkaido NaNoWriMos

Hello! I am trying to see who is doing NaNoWriMo and currently living in Hokkaido. It might be nice to meet some new people or just find out who among my friends are secret writers!
I'm currently living in Hokkaido and this is not only my first year here (not looking forward to winter), but it's also my first time to do NaNoWriMo. I'm super excited! I've tried to write some stories down before, but I've never gotten around to finishing. This time I am looking forward to having some sort of goal so even if I don't finish a novel, I can at least say I'm somewhere closer than I was before.
Anyhow, stop by and say hi, all ye Hokkaido-ans.
Tohoku Wrimos, Check in!

Hey ladies (and maybe gents),

How are things treating everyone else up north? I am half way to my desired word count, but still need today to be a 10k word day in order to catch up to where I need to be. I wrote 10k yesterday, (woot!) so I am hopeful that today will work out well.

How is everyone doing? Are people cruising along? Stuck? Finished? What's the word? (I got horribly stuck last week, which really set me back, and then over the weekend I lost 2 full days of writing to an orientation for work (stupid job, don't they know???) So, I have been working overtime to dig myself out, but thankfully the story is flowing pretty well now.)

Also, I don't know if we'll be able to schedule another write-in before November ends (but those who would like to should definitely try!). I personally don't think I'll have enough time between now and then to make travel plans if I'm going to finish my book on time. However, I think we should seriously consider a TGIO (Thank G.-whoever G is to you, for me it's Gwen- It's Over) Party! I would be happy to try to organize something for the first week or two of December. Maybe that first weekend? Maybe Sendai? Word on the street is that there's a Mexican restaurant in Sendai. I don't know about you guys, but that sounds pretty tasty to me.

Anyway, come say hi here on this thread! Let us know how you're doing. Let us know if you want to have TGIO party, and if so, where and when works well for you.

Keep me posted! Hope you're all doing well and kicking novel writing ass!

~Gwen
To Inspire; Super Nanos!

***Looking here and there I found 3  Super Nanos;

1) Kateness 507,002!!!

2) Caeraerie 479,001! !

3) Saintjoi 100,022!

The things that unite them is that they are from USA, with at least 4 Nanos under their belts and many buddies in their lists with halos.

I am learning so much about people and patterns in this experience and we still have almost two weeks to go, how exciting!
Kobe-Sannomiya Write in!

Hey guys, it is your ML here as always, letting you know what's up with the Weekly Write-In. 8D

WHEN: Sunday, November 15th, NaNoWriMo Hump Day! 8D
WHAT: Write In!
TIME: 1pm, as usual, until whenever people want to leave. aka before my last train. 8D
MEET: At the Three Mounds Park (or the Tits as we called 'em when I was but a wee Uni student, bwahaha)
Or, you can meet us at the McDonald's in the Sanbangai (the covered shopping arcade across the road
from the station. This Makku is across from Vivre) We'll be taking over the second floor for writing.

FUN STUFF: So, last time we had a few word wars. This time? There will be prizes! (In the form of secret foodings) I also
have THE BOX OF DOOM (that may also be a bag or envelope), which will give us all challenges! I will have
prizes for winners and losers. 8D And they will be equally hilarious and awesome. And likely tasty.
And hey, if you have games you'd like to play at the event? Pass them along to me!

Also, I don't really condone bringing food into resturants (like, ever), but we are spendign all day at Makku . . . Hey, I'm gona be packing some egg salad sammiches for myself. Just make sure that if you bring food, HIDE IT! Some places might look the other way, but Makku will kick you out. All I ask is that if you ARE packing tasty food that is healthier than a big mac (or the bacon bbq burger, which is TASTY YUMMY), at least buy your drinks there, okay? We're taking over thier seating, so be nice. :>

Anyway, I really hope people can show up! I'm going to Vivre to do Lolita shopping (more like browsing atm, ahaha) around 11 when it opens, if anyone wants to come lemme know. (There was interest from a few parties. Yes, that means you'll probably see me dressed like a fluffball)

Let's Writing Together!
----------
If your curious about life in the middle of no-where Japan, I guess I'd be the chick to ask. :3

Hey nanoers!

I will be in the capital on the 20th and I was wondering if any of you would be interested in an impromptu write-in. I must confess that I haven't lived in Tokyo for a while now and that I don't know or any places that would let us plug our laptops ins and type away but if you have any idea, please share them!

How about around 1 or 2 pm, somewhere in Tokyo?
Happy ML Appreciation Day!

Just wanted to thank WillowWolf for being our awesome "regional" ML... for the WHOLE COUNTRY. You rock! Sorry, it's late in the day. I was busy procrastinating from writing. But, now I'm back to the grindstone, or just about to be, and thought I should appreciate our ML a bit first. So, consider yourself appreciated. Thanks for the stickers and the love and for all the organizing and such! Hope you're having a great day and rocking the word count. I posted this here rather than messaging you, so as to remind others who may have forgotten that it's ML appreciation day. Hope that's ok.

The Link for the Amazing Beautiful Park in Sagamihara-shi

***We love this park so much we have adopted her. Over the years has become as our back-yard even if she is a good 20 min. by car from home, but she feels so homy, why, she was born the same year I had! :-D

Alternative; A Park for Tokyo 11/15 Write-in!

***Gals ;-D

Hubby & moiself were completely drained-of after the combination of the Shinjuku crowds and the Starbucks' atmosphere & noise, not to mention the 40 minutes train ride and the elbow-pushing adventure that's the experience of those daring the Shinjuki Sunday's crowd at lunch time.
We feel exhausted just recalling it all! And yet, we all got some very useful insights from it all, so, we are thinking, What will it be like, if our next write-in is in a truly creative and nourishing place, where we can sit under the trees, breathing clean air and listening only to the birds and eventually the laughs of some kids playing nearby? Nature is the greatest Muse, isn't She?

So, Gals & guy :-P Let's give it a try?
We know of a MAGIC, guaranteed to inspire---that happens to be our very favorite---park where there is a round, covered, wood table where 8 to 12 persons can comfortable sit surrounded by trees, there is even a few seconds away, still in the park, coffee and snacks shop, a 5 minutes, again, still in the park, best ever ramen shop, not to mention the lots of flowers everywhere, the green house, gosh, they even have a series of fountains we can sit on the grass in front of! And if someone feels like, we can take you Gals, by car, to a 3 minutes away, in the middle of flower fields ORGANIC curry & rice log restaurant with an incredible 900 yen tasty one plate dinner, the nan is the best we have tasted. So, not only inspiration for your novel, but delicious nutritional food for your bodies as well.

For those interested, Is in the Odakyu line. I can nano-mail the details of how to get there.

I hope you all will consider givinga try to this or other park or natural setting place, as we, as much as we love being among you all, can't drag ourselves to another crowded city/Startbuck adventure anymore.

PD On the other hand, if you young creatives are tired of having to repeat slower 80% of what you say & want to get ride of us, older, correction, wiser :-p generation, this is your opportunity :-D

Greetings from your ML! Stickers, Virtual Meet ups and letters!

Hey guys! As we in Japan are few and far between, we've only got one official ML in the country--that would be me. Haha. Ahem. Anyway, I want to welcome you to another year of Nanowrimo! This is my sixth year participating, so I'm pretty excited!

Because we are so spread out, I wanted to toss the idea out there of having Virtual Write ins and Skype chats. This would be a once a week thing (Or more, if you see me on and want to chat me up!) I also want to have some in person meet ups, but that will probably only be possible for the crew in the Chuugoku and Kansai areas. Of course, if you would like to travel to visit, you are more then welcome!

Traditionally we have a kick off party in Umeda, Osaka, and a TGIO party at a Mexican place in Shinsaibasi, Osaka. I am quite up to changing stuff, but realize I can't get past Kyoto during most weekends in November. (I can probably get as fas as Hiroshima as well, for those farther south).

But! I have goodies for you. Stickers from the Offices of Letters and Light! They are pretty awesome. I'll be handing these out at the first meet up, and then if you feel okay sending me your address, I will mail the rest of the stickers out to you.

I'm sure I'll have more to say as the month wears on, but if you have any questions, please let me know! I look forward to talking to all of you this year!

If anyone wants to chat on AIM, I am TerraNovaKnight.

Happy Noveling preparation!
