Ok, this story isn't for nanowrimo, but what genre is this?

Summary:

Mr. Bones is an evil guy with evil henchmen trying to find Walt Disney's last ride: an extremely valuable merry-go-round. Five kids get mixed in with it and try to stop him.

There is some violence and a lot of criminal stuff involved and the main characters are:

The five kids: Dancy, Bug, Gil, AJ, and Saide

The young teachers, staff, and gangsters: Jane, Lissy, Virgil, Sterling, Bubbanut, and Yuri.

is this story mystery or what?

Definitely a mystery. . . Maybe, to be more specific, a crime novel. Or suspense.

Either way, mystery fits it pretty well.

It might be a mystery, but only if your characters are trying to figure out who the bad guy is. If you don't have any detective work going on, then it isn't a mystery.

It's suspense if no one really knows what's going on until the very very end and there is a lot of tension throughout the book.

Now, if this were a thriller, the chance of extreme harm would pervade everything and they would be going for high stakes (consequences).

All in all, it depends on what your novel is really about. Reduce the plot to one sentence. What does it sound like then?

One sentence: the main characters are trying to find out what Mr. Bones and his gang are up to... mystery. Coolio thanks!

I'm okay with the mystery or suspense tag, but it sounds as though it's also YA (young adult) -- young teachers, Disney, 5 kids. That's just my take on it. It also depends on the writing style.

Comic adventure? Caper story? Coming-of-age?
