Title: Undecided at this point
Length: 9,000 words
Draft: 2nd
Language: English
Brief summary: In the aftermath of the Soviet offensives in Romania and Bulgaria in autumn 1944, a Ukrainian conscript deserts the Red Army and escapes to Greece
Subgenre and keywords: WWII, Eastern Front, Red Army, desertion
Known issues: Some liberties taken with historical details, some sloppy grammar (especially run-on sentences; they're a tendency of mine)
Critique requested: Mostly plot and flow, but really I'd be grateful for anything. What was your overall impression?
Critique tolerance: Feel free to be harsh; I'll try to suck it up. ;) I'd like to whip this into shape and make it something I can be proud of.
Experience and goals: This is my first real completed work of fiction. It started out as a school project and I'd like to work on it some more over the summer, maybe brush up a bit on some of the hazy historical details that I rushed over while doing research; eventually I may look to submit it to a magazine.
Method of communication: email
I have the manuscript in a basic Notepad file and can email it to anybody who's interested. No real disclaimers/warnings content-wise. Thanks in advance!
