Planes, helicopters, zepplins, blimps, hot air balloons... Can you think of anything else? I need something my FMC can live on for long periods of time. I'm not even sure if there is a difference between zepplins, blimps or hot air balloons. O_o
Thanks!

I don't think there's much of a difference between zeppelins and blimps. Airship's another word for it. Ornithopters are aircrafts that flap their wings, though I'm not sure if that's something you can live in long-term. (But I think they're very cool.) Gliders don't need propulsion to stay aloft. I can't think of anything else.

Oooh... onrithopter. That's awesome! I could definitely use it. Basically, I need to use everything possible. Probably not planes due to the need for a fuel but zepplins and such. Thanks!
And if anyone else can think of ANYTHING, even if it technically doesn't exist, put it out there.
Thanks in advance!!!

Hooray, you like ornithopters too. =p
I don't know if you're considering spacecraft, but I've been fantasizing about sub-orbital passenger flights in my novel because they can speed up intercontinental travel. The high cost from the rockets makes it unrealistic at present.
For really fantastical stuff, you could get ideas from small things like kites and catapults and imagine them as larger-scale transport.

to give you an idea for why I need so many - my nano is set on a planet similar to Jupiter in that there is no land - never has been, never will be - somehow, haven't figured out how, a life form developed and lives in the air. So I have every type of flying machine possible, with little tweaks and such. My FMC is living (at the moment) on an air ship of enormous size, with gliders (like in Treasure Planet, the Disney movie nobody remembers) for personal use and kites for "trailing" ( haven't decided what exactly "trailing" is though). So basically I need other places for my people to live. So far I have the aforementioned air ship and the largest city of the planet is migratory, attached to the creatures that also live in the sky.
The space travel thing might work, if I tweaked it a little bit to work in my favor. Maybe you could explain it more?

Oh, your story sounds fun!
Sub-orbital flight is where you go to a higher altitude than normal planes. I'm not sure what part of the atmosphere this is, or whether it's actually in space. It's sub-orbital because it's not high enough to stay in orbit, and your craft will return to the surface before it completes one revolution around planet. So sub-orbital flight would be useful for travelling around the planet because you can cover more ground in less time, but the spaceflight components (or components similar to that) make it somewhat impractical in the real world for global travel.
