Success Stories -Anything From Nanowrimo to Real Life

Hey guys, now I know that some of us are behind in word count but come in here and share your success stories. Did your boss give you a day off this month that you never saw coming. Did you find that you have more vacation time so you can catch up if need be. Or did you just write that one scene that made you squeal because hey it gave you word count but it was more then a word count to you it was a piece of a novel. Come and share your success stories.

-The play I wrote is being produced today - extremely nervous
-Last night my word count surpassed PoetT by 1,000 words.
-I had a scene where I was crying my eyes out because it was so emotional. It helped me surpass PoetT

Those are some of my sucess stories today. Now I better get ready to go help get my play produced. Wish me luck.

Salina?

Just wondering if anyone is in the vicinity?

You'd think Salina would be a big enough town to have their own, but ohwell. Not everything is about size :P

I was in Manhattan last year, back to my hometown this yr.
Not that big of a jump I know but doubt I will have the gas to visit for a write-in.
This will be my second yr if ya didn't do the math yet.
I didn't make the mark last time but I am enthusiastic about reaching the goal this yr!

My Main Character told a friend today, "This is like something written in a horrible story." I have to say I wasn't offended at all, I could only laugh. So I thought I'd ask if anybody else has a character that's talking back (or getting mouthy), and what kind of things are they saying.

If you haven't noticed my word count is back to zero. Oh yes, I am crying because I was ahead of the game. I was at 25,590 words this morning. when I saved my novel to my flashdrive it crashed. There went my novel and all the hard work I put in on it. So I am telling you now...don't be like your ML. Back up your novels. Please back it up...

Wow, I am a really really bad ML. Since I am an ML that hasn't written a single word. I know it's only day two but it's still pretty bad and that means I am behind. Try not to do what I am doing. I have to catch up. And since I am going for 100K I have to catch up big time. I have to hit 10K by tomorrow night...oh save me.

Trust me...if you feel in trouble post here and you might get some good feedback....

General Writing Meetup

I try very hard to be involved in the writing community year-round, not just during November. So, if anyone is looking to get some face-to-face critique, I've put together a small group that meets in Lawrence once a month (I'm in Olathe myself). It's rather casual; we give feedback but also chat about what's going on in our career efforts in general. For November's meeting, we're planning on checking-in on each other's NaNo progress, among other things.

The next meeting is Saturday, November 8th, at 10:30AM.

Hey guys,
It's nice to be back after our long break into nothing. I have a feeling though some of our veterns weren't doing nothing while on this break but silently pushing the word out about Nanowrimo. Can you feel the exciment that is going to happen this year.

So come in here and introduce yourselves. My name is Kendra but you can call me Kk or thediarywithin or as poetT calls me dw. I answer to any of those on here. This is my second year being an ML and fourth year being a Nanowrimo. I am super excited and been spreading the word down here in Emporia. Where all my write-ins will be since I do not have a car. Also their will be about twenty of us down here. I know that PoetT will be having write-ins up north from me. So you might want to go check out his posting as well as these posting.

So I am twenty one and a sophmore second year in college. I know time flies when you are having fun. I am working on my elementary education major as well as my creative writing major. I am super excited for when I graduate which will be in three more years. Sad, I know. But I am ready to push it along.

So introduce yourselves. I'll be posting my blog website some time this week possibly. I'll have some really neat writing excersises that i have used in my classes to help get the juices flowing. Also I'll be getting a google calender so everyone knows when my write-ins down here are.

WOW two days! 48 hours and it will all begin again.

We will be having write-ins at the Chanute Public Library starting Monday Nov 3rd. So far this is the only one we have definitely planned, as we would like to branch out and have more off site this year.

I'm 36 years old and live in Abilene. I have three great kids and spend my days and weeks raising them with a wonderful man. I won NaNo last year and have been a member since 2004. I'm writing romance/chick lit again this year and am aiming for 100,000 word in the hope that at least half of them will be worth the paper they're written on.

Anyone else in this area?

Kick-Off Party 08

This year our Kick-Off Party for our region will take place on Oct.28 at 6:30 at the Chanute Public Library. If you are not familiar with Chanute the library is in the old train station at 111 N. Lincoln. We will be meeting in the Leighter Conference Room (upstairs)

Also I am thinking of finding a cheap chat room possibly free to create a online writein...because we are far out in some areas.

If you are in the Topeka area, I recommend being affiliated with both the Kansas:: Elsewhere and the Kansas:: Topeka region so that you can stay in touch with everyone in our region without missing the writing friends you made before the Topeka region was formed last year.

We have the usual events planned in Topeka -kickoff, caffeinate and chats, write-ins and more! Everyone is welcome.
