Anyone interested to release their nano novel during Summer Komikon?

This is a serious question.

1. Summer Komikon is on April 17 at UPD Bahay ng Alumni.

2. I contacted Komikasi in the off-chance that Talecraft might be interested in backing ebooks made by PinoyWrimos (light novels and other novels) created on CD and sold at Komikon.

3. Ria Lu, the Talecraft lady, agreed.

The current proposal is this:

"-Are you open to self-publishing? We were hoping we could leave the production of your CDs to you guys. Whatever money you make during the Summer Komikon, you get to keep for yourself. :)
-We will provide a booth under Project 20:10. We'll shoulder the cost for the booth rental. We only request the "I'm part of Project 20:10" logo to appear on your CD covers.
-We'll help with the marketing of your e-books. On the day, of the event, though, we'd like to request you guys to be there to sell and promote your e-books. We'll be there din."

Komikasi is willing to help with the covers, or the slips to put inside the CD pockets. You'd probably have to help make the back-cover blurb and help provide art if you could.

What are your opinions, and what do I tell Ms. Lu?

And if anyone is seriously interested, please contact either me or boss Tina.

EK 8 )

----------
New Wrimos: not taking any mentorships, but ask me stuff through YM or Nanomail and I'll answer. ^^;

NaNo Distractions DDD<

I think we all need a place to rant about these things especially if your friends or family are so sick of you venting out on them that sometimes, you'd rather just not waste their time or they'd rather just not hear you out.

So what are those filthy little things that keep you from being productive in your NaNo? Is it an ugly neighbor? Your dog who's constantly hungry for a little TLC? Some online friend who wouldn't take "brb" for an answer? Who knows, someone might take these rants as inspirations for their novels. :D

For me, it's mostly my neighbors. This problem has existed for...about a year or two, already to the point that I have become a little too used with their noise but listening to their problems (since the family sounds dysfunctional) make me very uncomfortable! I mean, private lives, anyone? Their parents don't stay there everyday, I don't think, so the kids are always shouting and screaming and sometimes, we don't need to turn our TV on just to listen to TV Patrol. O.o It's that bad!

It's the kids that are mostly so damn noisy -- especially their youngest sister who's such a big whiner. There's never a day when she doesn't cry or when she doesn't fight with her caretakers and the sad thing about it is that when we shout at them (since their house is literally just a stone's throw away and do believe me when I say sometimes, I'm so tempted to rip my screen open and throw a stone at them) to shut up, the caretakers used to tell the kid "See, now you've bothered the neighbors!" but now, that doesn't even happen anymore! It's taking all of me just to keep myself from knocking on their door and telling them "What the fuck is wrong with you?" but I have to be a modest neighbor and sometimes I'm lazy. >.>

But as if that isn't enough, just recently, they've brought over a Japanese spritzer and when the thing barks, it's so pitchy and thin and high and sometimes, I swear, I could feel it barking right at my ear! I shush it from my window and I am so sure the entire neighborhood hears me but, of course, they don't do anything about it. I am really so ready to burn the whole place down. >.>

So that's what's been distracting me from my NaNo. Sometimes, I can't concentrate and sometimes, I'm just filled with so much rage and hate that I can't go on until they shut up. It happens every, single day, too. It's so bothersome!

Whew. That was a long rant.
Anyone encountered "hate" or ill will from doing NaNoWriMo?

Was surfing the LJ comm fandomsecrets today and ran across this secret that said: "I hate NaNoWriMo because it makes all my fandom friends disappear for a month!"

URL to the picture: http://img8.imageshack.us/img8/9666/nanog.jpg

Half the comments to the secret agree to the poster, half politely disagree.

Comments here: http://community.livejournal.com/fandomsecrets/384435.html?thread=211773...

So it set me off to thinking, what, haters gotta hate on people who are trying to genuinely accomplish something in their lives?

Anyway, wanted to hear your thoughts. Admittedly, that thing threw me off my game for a few minutes. Some people can really rather feel "entitled", or something, I don't know.
Next year I will...

Okay so PJ started this earlier during the TGIO party, so I figured let's get it on here now. :D

To those who are planning to join NaNoWriMo next year, what are you planning to do differently? It could be the way you write, or the point of view. It could be outlining if you don't outline before or vice versa. You may start attending write-ins (oh please do :p) or maybe be more active in chats? join word wars? or maybe even try a new genre?

Let's get it "written in stone" -- figuratively, of course -- and then let's see if everyone manages to fulfill it by 2010. :D
Thank you, mentors!

Admit it: without them, November may have not been the same.

It makes a world of a difference if you have a personal cheerleader cheering you on as you try to reach your goal. How did your mentor help you write this year? What words of wisdom did they share that really helped you? Did what they do for you inspire you to become a mentor next year too?

This is your chance to thank your mentors for what they have done to help you in the past month. :-) Tell the world (or at least, our region) about what your mentor did for you! :)
Tripped?
Forgot to tie your shoe laces?
Saw that everyone else was ahead and you were left behind?
Got to caught up with the awesome scenery instead of the finish line?
...Or maybe you decided to run a different race?

Surviving Manila: Risen Threat! hit the 50k mark with the 10th Chapter.
However, I feel the story needs to keep going.
I wonder how many others are doing the same.

Heard about the TGIO party. Wish I could go but Saturday (December 5) is already way too busy with Christmas parties, Pride march and other stuff. So yeah, will have to find a way to squeeze it in.

Call this a miracle, but I just registered today. I've known NaNoWriMo since last year but it was just today, November 29 2009 that I have decided to join.

I am moronic, it is a given, and me barging in and posting a new topic that doesn't contain a "hello i am a newbie topic" not only makes me moronic, but it also is a validation that I am indeed Sushimoron.

I am sorry for barging in but I have felt this adrenaline rush, much like Bella Swann, and I will kill myself through writing in hope that I meet my Edward-a.

Surviving Manila: Risen Threat (if anyone is interested in reading it)

Nanowrimo 2009 Entry: Surviving Manila: Risen Threat

There were hundreds upon thousands of them, moving down the narrowing section of the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue as if in silent protest against the corrupt regime of a debilitated government. No banners were raised in this march of the masses this time however. No music-interwoven insults were chanted. No stage was raised at the foot of the massive metal madonna whose outstretched hands held immobile beams of concrete hope.

This was no revolution unfolding upon the main road known as EDSA.

It was well past the third hour of the afternoon and the sun hung closer towards the horizon. A comfortably chilly November such as this would typically be punctuated by the blare of car horns, the groan and rumble of privately-owned buses and the self-serving sirens of the escorted public officials whose cars (regardless of whom rode in them) were given priority and enforced passage through the traffic slowed streets. Instead, there was an ominous lingering silence. The uneasy peace of quiet blanketed the area was reminiscent of ghost towns and movie cities that had been ravaged by the hordes of the undead or the undiscriminating touch of plague.

And that was quite an apt comparison.

For indeed Manila was infected with plague.
A plague of the hungry and the walking dead.

---
Pinoywrimo Progress Graph

We had this last year, and it was extremely useful by TGIO time, so let's do this again. :D

Here's how this works. One of the USA MLs set this tool up so whoever posts in this thread will automatically get added to this graph that displays all of our progress for November. It's not a complete picture of the region, but it's good enough to be able to see who's lagging behind and who's shooting up up and up. :D

So everyone who posts here will be added to the graph automatically. Just one post, and it's enough :D To make this thread a bit fun, let's include one line of our novel in our post :)

Okiedokie? Let me know if you have any questions. :D

<strike>* graphic image will be added in this space shortly, as soon as it shows up. :)</strike>

Aaand here's the graph!

* This image gets updated from time to time as people post here or if you update your word count. :D
Shameless Self-Promotion Time!

LOL. Okay, I officially finished my first novel or at least the first 150 pages out of 1008 pages (more or less) I have planned for "The Hollow World"--the first of six books in my Dungeonworld Volume One series, Dungeonworld Chronicles. I'm uber thrilled! NaNoWrimo basically got me 1/4 of the way to realizing my dream in one month although my dream is a bit larger and I'd like to spend more than 30 days on this novel. But hey, 1/4 of the way to the finish line is farther than still being at the starting line. Hahaha....

Anywho, time to plug my book. So I set up a blog where I will cover things I've learned in my goal to be a better writer as well s pieces of my world-building for my world of Sheol or "Dungeonworld." In addition, I've asked my talented brother, Michael, a digital art designer, and my cousin, Serge, a professional illustrator to create concept art not just for my book covers but to truly bring my new universe to life.

You can catch all the Dungeonworld mythology and learn more about me and my own quest to become the best writer I can be here:

Finally hit the 50k mark: Analysis of the weeks

I got a 51237 word count, submitted a scrambled version of the novel and won! Anyways this is a short chronicle of what happened during the four weeks of literary abandon.

First week: I did not feel slowing down! My story actually has some nice descriptions in it and good character development.

Second week: Still not slowing down but the "writing juice" is running out. I started doing 1667 words per day. Plot twists are developing for some reason.

Third week: The chore of writing has become unbearable, only a few hints of inspirations here and there. However, the characters seems to be hell bent on reaching their intended goals, with or without grammar.

Final week: Somehow got a second wind and did a writing frenzy. I managed to make the characters to their goals during 45,000 mark and did some 6000 words worth of epilogue material.

Most hated day: Saturday since I would do double duty and do 3k words so that I would be free on Sundays
----------
