I doubt if I will make it to many/any events because I don't have a laptop AND I have a 2 month old baby (plus 6 other children, but one is away at college). So I could probably be some of y'all's mother but oh well! Moral support will be given and taken gladly!

NC Regional word war, anyone?

Hello Fellow North Carolina Wrimos!

My name is Jess and I'm co-ML of Asheville. I'm writing to you, my NC Wrimo brethren, to challenge you to a North Carolina Regional Word War this year!

I don't know individual MLs of each region so I'm posting this on each region's forum. MLs, feel free to nanomail me directly to let me know if your region is interested in participating.

Haven't figured out what winners/losers get, so suggestions are welcome!

I figure it's never too early, right?

From what I've been hearing, previous write-ins have mainly been held at Caribou Coffee on Franklin St; they're open fairly late (at least 11, I believe), have free wifi, plenty of seating, and good coffee. Anyone have other places they'd like to meet?

Personally, weekends are always best for me when it comes to meeting. MWF before 2 or after 6 is also good. How bout y'all? Hopefully we can find some time when most of us can get together...

Sooo... I'm not sure if we have an ML this year, but I know I'm not the only NaNo-er in Chapel Hill! I'm just curious to know -- who else is out there? Shall we have an introductions thread?

I'm Meredith, a Library Science grad student at UNC. This is my third year NaNoing; I succeeded in both '06 and '07, and the story I'll be working on this year is a sequel to the one I did in '06. I tend to gravitate toward writing things that stretch my imagination -- last year, I ran with an idea about pirates in a dystopian future after an oil crisis. The series I'm coming back to involves shapeshifters.

I tried to post this yesterday, but it doesn't appear to have taken! It was great to see so many of you yesterday at the Kick off party! Katherine and I hope to see you again and some others at the write in on Thursday. For those of you on Facebook, there is a facebook group you can join. Chapel Hill's NANOWRIMO Kick-off Party!

Hey all!

Katherine and I are excited about our NANOWRIMO Kick Off party! The party is at DSI Comedy Theater on Sunday November 2nd at 4 PM! (Don't forget it is the end of Daylight Savings Time so on Sunday at 2 AM we "fall back" one hour.)

The theater is located at 200 N. Greensboro Street at Carr Mill Mall. The entrance is behind Elmo's Diner and Fleet Feet. For more info on directions to the theater go here: http://dsicomedytheater.com/about/directions.php.

Nanowrimo '08!!!

Hey Everybody!

Katherine and Paula here, your co-ML's for this year! We're so excited to get to know you all in the coming weeks. We're cooking up a really fun kick off party, details will follow soon, but we're thinking about using the DSI theater in Carrboro as a possible location and Sunday, November 2nd, at 3:30 as a possible time. Please let us know if this is a good time for you! We'd like to have as much turnout as possible. We are also thinking about having three write-ins per week at various locations around Chapel Hill.

All of our events will be on our NANOWRIMO Chapel Hill Google Calendar as well as being listed here. Search for NANOWRIMO Chapel Hill under Google's public calendars and add it. Hoot, if you have any issues and we will be happy to help you find it!
