If you're looking for local participants, we have a place for you! If you'll look under My NaNoWriMo, you'll find the regional forums, where you can find local Wrimos and arrange meetups on a closer scale.
Any local/regional group should be posted in its nearest regional lounge.

Can we have a sticky thread of guidelines so we know why our threads got locked and we can save other people from the same fates?

I can do that. :) I'm sorry I forgot to comment on yours when I locked it. USually I do. There's going to be two reasons why a thread is locked here, generally:
1) It is a local group, and is best served by the regional lounges. I would move them, but the regional lounges and regular forums can't cross-pollinate.
2) It's a duplicate. I'll usually post a link to the original thread, and then lock it.
In your case, it's because you posted a local group thread. :)

Actually, the U of Phoenix isn't local. It isn't located in Phoenix. Aside from the numerous US campuses, there are a large number of people like me who are only taking it on-line, and those students are from all over the US as well as anywhere else English is spoken.

I agree - sorry moderator! University of Pheonix is here in Canada too!
But I like that you're being careful about duplicate/wrong place threads - certainly helps with the volume of information to slog through!

I'm a member of the Inland Sea Writers in McCook NE. There are only 5-6 of us and I'm not sure how many check out the forums. We have very little online presence. Just thought I'd chime in.
