Hello, everyone, and welcome to NaNoWriMo 2008! We're glad to have you on board this year!
As you might have noticed, or maybe you haven't, Wyoming has an ML this year. Now, I know you're all thinking "what's the point of having an ML in a place as geographically remote as Wyoming?" Well. The point of an ML is to give people encouragement and organize events for everyone, and also to get the word out about NaNoWriMo to the rest of the community at large.
What I envision for Wyoming is getting more people wanting to write, and spreading the word about this craziness that we all put ourselves through. I know since our region is our whole state, this will be a little more difficult than in other areas. I'd love a co-ML or two if anyone is interested, preferably NOT from the southwest Wyoming area. Events will be hard to coordinate, if we even want to have them, because we all know that weather in November around here can be a little tricksy and treacherous. But I want to do my best to at the very least have an active forum where all us Wyoming Nanos have a place to support each other, blow off steam from the noveling process, and all that other good stuff. There aren't a lot of us compared to other regions, but we can be just as active if we want to.
A little bit about me, so you don't think that I'm just coming out of nowhere. My name is Jennifer, I'm a Wyomingite at heart despite where my life has taken me at times, and I have found myself back in Rock Springs at WWCC. I've done Nano for four years now, winning for the last three, and this is my second year as an ML. I was an ML for Augusta, Georgia last year, where my husband was stationed with the military.
I can't wait to hear from all of you, and I look forward to this year's event!

Oh, and if you have any Nano-related events you want added to the calendar, just nanomail me or leave a post in the forum and I'll get it done!

Hey Jen. It'll be great to have an ML this year. The state could certainly use more nano cohesion. I've moved to Laramie this year to go to the University of Wyoming. I hope to hear more from you soon about organizational stuff and get togethers. It will be a ways to drive but if we schedule it right I suspect it will work out just fine. At this point I'm thinking that for my part I'd like to drive out to Rock Springs on a weekend when the Library is holding its monthly Lan party. If I can find a place to stay overnight so much the better. Otherwise just a long Saturday. Three hours is a ways to drive but not prohibitive. And we could certainly host some event over this way. I'm still in contact with the western Nebraska ML who has once again expressed interest in working with the eastern side of Wyoming. And Norther Colorado much the same. Laramie is a bit far in perhaps but I don't doubt there is a Wrimo or two in Cheyenne. At any rate plenty of opportunities. I look forward to hearing from you with more.

Hi Genji,
I'm in Casper. Last year I arranged for Saturday write-ins at one of the local book stores. The first Saturday, several attended, but after that, it was just me. Which was nice - lots of quiet writing time. I am willing to help with the Casper area again.
I would like to get the information for the Young Writers out to the school this year. I worked at the school library in Kaycee for many years and remember how excited my own children and the other children were to get to write for the Young Writer's Contest. To me, the NaNoWriMo is even better. The goal is to finish. The stories aren't judged leaving a lot of children thinking their writing isn't any good. I saw so much of that with the other contest.
If I can do anything to help, please let me know. Life is a little crazy with working full time, painting stars and doing Reiki evenings and then writing too, but I will do anything I can to help.
I will contact the Star Tribune, Casper Journal, Casper radio and TV stations again. Last year the papers carried information about it and one of the TV stations did a short segment at the first of the contest.
I did win last year and hope to do it again this year. I am fired up and ready to go! Anyone in the Casper area can contact me and if I can help you at all, please feel free to holler.
Have a great day!

I'm going to be moving to Casper around the first of November and would love to meet with other writers. This is my first attempt at Nanowrimo and I'm really nervous about my work. Would love some feedback.

I'd be up for a Casper writing day. Let me know so I can make plans for the drive. Keep us up to date.

As I am a relative newcomer not only to Wyoming but also to Nano, I'd love to meet some new friends...Count me in if I'm able to.

If something gets planned for the 22nd in Casper, then I will plan on being there. We just need to find a place that has electricity (to power my 21st century typewriter) and coffee (to power my 21st century brain).

Hi Big Andy,
I am in Casper too. I just got back from reserving the Reading/Writing Room at Wind City Books at 152 S Center in Casper, down my the Rialto Theatre. Reservations are for every Saturday except the 29th because of Thanksgiving, from 9-5. It would be great if you could come. There is a nice Coffee/Expresso/Tea bar downstairs in the main book store.
This is my second year of writing with NaNoWriMo and I did finish my 50,000 words last year.
Please feel free to email me if you would like to come or have some suggestions.
Have a great day!

Hi Jen,
It's awesome to have you as our official Liason. Let's get going! I'm in Lander, this is my 2nd NaNo, surprised myself at getting to 50,000 words last year, and am wearing my NaNo T-shirt to see if anyone goes AHA! I'd be happy to host a Thank Goodness it's Over celebration at the end in Lander for all kamikaze writers here!
