Surprise! And welcome to the first thread, of many I'm sure, for the Fort Smith region! I'm Laura, one of the co-ML's! Soon to post will probably be my lovely, fantabulous co-ML, Shay. Say hi, Shay!

Now, when I say Fort Smith and surrounding areas, it's a general area! We have people from Alma, Van Buren, Fayetteville, and even Oklahoma! We don't care where you're from, you can definitely meet with us and write with us! There are eleven of us right now (and we call ourselves the Yetis, so don't be confused if that's referenced) but we'd love to add to the number!

So! Let's get right into it, shall we? The Fort Smith kick off party will be on October 28th at 7 pm. It's held at the Sweet Bay on Rogers. NOT THE ONE BY CREEKMORE PARK. There are two Sweet Bay coffee houses on Rogers Avenue, but we meet at the one by Lowes, Taco Bell, and Geno's pizza. If you'd like directions, just email me at riverchic1998@gmail.com and I'll send them your way.

Now, if you'd like to come to the kick-off party, we just ask that you bring some cheap writer-ly things to go in gift bags that will be provided for everyone. Don't delve into your savings account to get them, though! I mean things like pens, post it notes, small notebooks, stickers, or even just little inspirational messages! Bring enough to give to around 15 people!

If you'd like to meet us before the kick off party, come on over! Our group meets every Tuesday at the same Sweet Bay I mentioned above. Our group arrives anywhere between 6 and 7 (I get there around 8 because of night class *shakes fist at the university*) and we're there until close.

We try to write 30 minute random challenges from the Box-O-Doom. It's not that scary, and it's a lot of fun. I'm not going to spoil anyone on the inner works of BOD, so you'll just have to come and see what all the fun is about! Honestly, we'd love to have you and hear all about your writing projects and NaNo!

If you have any other questions or comments, email me!

Thanks Laura for posting a great intro to our Region! More details about our Kick Off Party will be revealed as the date gets closer.

I can't wait to get to know all of you! If you've been lurking but unsure if you should introduce yourself or not, please do. We're hoping to make this anniversary year of NaNoWriMo the best ever for our Region!

Great! I need to meet some writers from this area. I just moved to Fort Smith from Oklahoma last year, and before that I was in Indianapolis. I'll be there!

Welcome aboard and to the area! I hope you can make the Kick Off Party on October 28th or if you are longing to connect with writers sooner, we are holding an unofficial plotting party on Oct. 14th.

Our writer's group meets every Tuesday night from around 6 or 6:30 pm till the coffee shop closes. (sometimes I'm there around 5 or earlier) We talk about writing and books, do random timed prompt writing, plot, support, ect. It's tons of fun!

Hi! Wish I could join you, but I probably won't be able to. I wish everybody in the Greater Ft. Smith Region all the best with this year's NaNo!

I wish you could come too. We currently have 13 people attending the Kick Off. :)

Maybe you can come to one of the write ins.

I live in Greenwood but work in Fort Smith, just a few blocks from the Sweet Bay in question.

I have to work till about 8:00 on the 28th -- how late is too late to show up?

(I had no clue a writing group met there; so far, I've belonged to two groups in the area, and am thinking of branching off on my own, and starting one in Greenwood.)

8:00 is not too late at all. We usually stay till 10:00 (well some of us do, a few leave early)

Please come on by. We'll be having our weekly write-ins here on Tuesday nights. We are thinking about scheduling another day too for those who can't make it on Tuesday.

We've been meeting Tuesdays for a year now. The core writing group has 11 members, but we've added a couple for NaNoWriMo.

And I have to say, it was fun last week! :-)
