Okay, let's do the roll call. Name, occupation, NaNo history, and anything else you feel like volunteering. Something random, too, like, ah, your favorite pizza topping.

I'm Erin. I'm an editor. This is my 7th NaNo, which boggles my mind. (I've won 4 times. It's definitely possible!) These days I'm writing a lot of fluff, but I have this big imbroglio of a suspense novel planned for this November. And I like pepperoni on my pizza.

Your turn!

Welcome, My Name is David, I am gainfully emplyed (finally!) as a Document Manager at a college in NYC, this is my third time in this cauldron of imagination. I won my first two go rounds. My pizza has sausage, however I pay for it later.
This year I have dragged my paraplegic wife into the fray, kicking and screaming all the way to the keyboard.
Away from Nano and work, I like renaissance faires, college basketball, baseball, travel by public transportation, and Stop and Shop.

Hey, I'm Ruby! I'm a high school student, and this is my second (well... First-and-a-half) time doing NaNoWriMo, and I don't like pizza! Except for under special circumstances.

I really like adventures.

Love, Ruby.

I'm Junkie on forums, or CJ in real life. This is my 6th year doing NaNo, hopefully my 3rd win. I actually only work in Manhattan, live in CT. Then again I much prefer hanging out in NY over my home. I'm special that way. ^_^ As for pizza, I'm a veggie-head, aka vegetarian, so I'd settle for extra cheese and mushrooms.

*waves overexcitedly*
I'm Steph, and I'm a student at Fordham University, so I'm basically abandoning my home region of Maryland. Ummmm this is only my second NaNo, after an epic non-win (I feel like I'll be yelled at if I say fail) last year. But I'm going to blame IB and an evil theatre director for that. Huzzah!

Hm, pizza topping? God, it doesn't even matter now that I'm here. Last night I had Hawaiian pizza at some random dinky little pizza parlor next to the Lunt-Fontane theatre and it was glorious.

NaNo 2008: Candlefire

This isn't going to end well, is it? *sighs* I thought not.

Hi everyone! I'm Theresia (yes, it's Theresa with an "i"), and I'm a first-semester freshman in college. This will be my FIRST NaNoWriMo, so I'm definitely bouncing with excitement!! Of course, I'm simultaneously fraught with nerves, but here's hoping for the best! -crosses fingers-

Err, let's see, my favorite pizza topping has got to be buffalo chicken strips (because I just had it last night). But hm, sometimes I crave pineapple chunks on my pizza...and sausage pizza is delicious as well...

As you can tell, I'm pretty indecisive.

Hope to get to know all of you better during November!

Hi!

I'm Olga and I'm famous. I'm one of your MLs and this is my 7th year doing Nano. I'm Elderly!

My favorite thing on pizza is onions. Yes, this is why no one is my friend.

I'm a Mac Genius at the apple store (I can't fix your ipod!) and I love to cook.

Hey everyone! I'm Becki, and this is my fourth NaNo. It's also my first one in New York, since I moved up here from Maryland six months ago! (By the way, SarcasmSpirit, whereabouts in MD are you from? I'm from outside Baltimore.)

I work at a puzzle magazine and I like reading, crocheting, and video games. I'm going to have to go with that old standby, pepperoni, for my favorite pizza topping.

Hi, all.
I'm May. This is my third year doing NaNo, and hopefully my third winning. I'm a college freshman, so it's my first year doing NaNo in New York (doesn't that have a nice ring to it?) I'm not a big pizza person, but when I do eat it, it's just sauce and cheese.

Hi, I'm Michelle and this is my 4th year in NanoWrimo. I have yet to make it to the finish line but I love trying.
This will be my first time trying nanowrimo since I moved from S. Florida to North NJ last April.
And I like mushrooms on my pizza.

Hi all! I'm Robin and I'm currently between jobs. I plan to get a temp job doing clerical work so I can save up to take a course at the Gotham Writers Workshop. This is my fifth time doing Nano and hopefully it'll be my first win. I love spinach on my pizza and my fave place to get it is Uno Chicago Grill.

Hi there, my name is Tim. I do hardware support for future-technology (e.g. CNN's "magic wall"). I've done NaNo since 2006 (have not won yet), and I love black olives on my pizza. I also twitter a fair amount, at the same screen name.

Hello! I'm Teresa, your Queens Municipal Liaison. This is my 6th NaNo. I've hit goal every year except my first as an ML! Which is probably why I'm contemplating moving the goal. I'm not self-deluded masochistic ambitious enough to say 100k, but maybe 75k might be within my grasp. Hm. As usual for me at this stage of the game, all I have is a basic idea for a plot. Hitting 50k, let alone more, will depend on whether the random bits that've occured to me so far cohere.

My pizza has mushrooms, with onions (I'm Olga's friend!) and black olives, or spinach, or chicken. But not all of it at once!

Salutations! My name is Joanne, and I've been on this crazy train ride since '03 (when I had no laptop and got about 4K words written before I gave up), winning since '04. Or maybe trying since '02 and winning since '03. Anyway, I wrote a JulNo over the summer, the Ultimate Fantasy Parody Epic (volume I) and for NaNo I plan to write Volume II. I'm a law student at NYU in my second year, and I love it because I am a nerd.

My favorite pizza toppings are Canadian bacon, mushrooms, and black olives.

I'm Amy, a freshman at NYU! This is my fourth nano, and I make it a point to fail spectacularly each year. I have a ridiculous schedule (drama major) and have no idea how this is all going to go. On the bright side, it's also my first year with a computer of my own, so that could be a help. Pizza? Mozzarella, tomato, and fresh basil. Or just lots and lots of veggies.

Another NYU kid! Cool!

I'm Max, sophomore English/Creative Writing major at NYU, and this is my first year doing NaNo. I'm pretty excited, but a little scared. I think that's a good sign, though. I'm looking to write either a steam-punk adventure/sci-fi novel, or a literary fiction about musicians, suicide, mental illness and relationships. Outside of school, I'm in a band, hopefully recording tracks for our first EP this winter (which could make this NaNo *really* interesting!) and... I don't really like anything on my pizza.

Hiii! My name is Rachel and this is my fourth NaNo (what? how?) but I've only won once, so I need to actually come back this time. I like to read, procrastinate, and make money by doing mind-numbing psych studies designed for poor little college students. Oh yes, and I am also a poor college student, in my second year at Columbia. I like Neil Gaiman, and he's coming to my school tomorrow. Haha. I know you're all jealous. That's all.

I'm Robin. This is my 2nd NaNo. I plan to finish the novel i started last year. i don't know what the genre is since it is a surreal story with fantasy characters (but not elves or fairies, just creature from my weirdness). I prefer the gluten free veggie pizza from Viva Herbal Pizzeria on 2nd Avenue between 11th and 12th Street in the East Village. Grilled garlic, zucchini, eggplant, sweet peppers, roma tomatoes, with a basil pesto sauce base on a corn meal crust... yum!

I wish writing was my gig.

Still looking for my niche,

Hi! I'm Kevin. I'm 25 and work with the computers at a hedge fund. This is my first nano, but it would definitely be at least my third if I'd heard about it before this year. I have no plot, just some scenes floating around my head that I really want to pack together. Presumably with epic amounts of fluff in between.

I like sitting on motorcycles for weeks at a time until I'm somewhere interesting, being late for almost everything, and buffalo chicken, lasagna, broccoli, and onions on my pizza. Not at the same time though. Yet.

Hi! *waves* I'm Beth. I'm in my third year of teaching special ed in the NYC public school system. This is (will be?) my 3rd NaNo. I won last year. Still working on finishing the book, but word-count wise I won. I'm really not sure what I'm going to write about this year. I may revisit the concept I had for attempt 1 (a Devil Wears Prada-esque novel about a 1st year teacher. Since I'm NOT in my first year anymore, this may be doable ~ I got stuck around, funnily enough, November since I didn't know what else would come.). Or I've just started getting the inkling of another idea...but who knows. This one's kind of...theatrically-based. But we'll see what happens.

Oh...and pizza... Pepperoni and pineapple. :)

Hi!
I am Fahmi and this is my seventh Nano - yow! Won only twice, but this is going to the third one, I can feel it. Prolly because I am more excited about this story than I've been in previous years.

Tech journalist by day, novelist by night. I write over 2000 words a day for my job, so I figure, what's another 2000?

I live in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. If I make it out to any meetups, it will be a miracle because I have a 2.5 year old at home and another one the way (due January). But, I love the idea of online chats - and if any of the MLs need a geek to help set that up, I am willing to help!

My pizza topping? I like green peppers. Once, in Florida, I had pizza with chocolate syrup. (dessert pizza) Now that was delicious.

May, are you by any chance at Sarah Lawrence? If you are, you should feel free to email me - I know there are a few of us on-campus, and I'm thinking of trying to arrange some write-ins at the Black Squirrel or something. :)

As for me, I'm Kristen, and I'm a sophomore at good ol' SLC. This is going to be my seventh attempted NaNo, and hopefully my sixth win (we'll see...), and my favorite flavor of Ice Cream is Ben & Jerry's Fudge Brownie Chunk.

Hi all!

I'm Yonah and this is my 2nd and a half year doing NaNo. Last year I reached 10K before the Internal Editor struck and the story fizzelled. This year I'm doing a Sci-Fi/somewhat of a political thriller, and I hope the bulk of my plot will reveal itself before NaNo.

Um... I'm a Junior at Brooklyn College, and gainfully employed as a secretary/sales lady at a small kitchen supply store on Nostrand Ave.

As for the pizza? Extra cheese or green olives for me!

Looking forward to meeting some of you.

My name is Kate, this is my third NaNo (won gloriously in 2006, and technically in 2007), and i'm deeply trouble by the anti-Bronx sentiment in the ML post. Staten Island gets mentioned, but not the Bronx? C'mon!

...anyway. I'm a Usability Specialist with two major projects coming up in November, so i should totally have plenty of time to write, and my favorite pizza topping is way too much cheese. (And if you like to live dangerously, ask me about collateral risks of NaNo participation in NYC.)

Hi! I’m Navah. I’m an editor. This is my 7th NaNo—I’ve won 5 times. I coined the now-classic phrase “serious badlyness.”

I like peppers and mushrooms on my pizza, but never, ever olives.

I also live in CT, but work in NY, and I’ve been a NaNoNYCer since I started, so I’m staying, and you can’t get rid of me!

I try not to think too much about my plot before November, lest I feel the urge to start writing early. Sometimes this is successful. Sometimes, I hit 11:59 on October 31 without a plot. But 5/6 winning years can’t be wrong, right? Right?

Hi, I'm Robert, and I'm technically not in NYC. However, judging from my exploration into the NorthEast NJ region and Other NY region forums (before the archiving), I realized that the NYC events are easier for me to get to than the events in NJ and other NY.

So, I'm a full time college student, musician, freelance vocal director, and craft entrepreneur from NJ. This will be my first NaNo and, if I dare say so, my modern Gothic novel set in the seedy underbelly of the custom framing industry is one of the strangest ideas I've ever come up with.

I'm not a big pizza fan, though I do like extra cheese when I have it.

Hello....My name is Lauren, and I first attempted WriMo last year, and then stopped at 30k words when my computer hard drive failed on me. Needless to say, I was distraught. I now have a Mac!

I am a recent college grad from John Jay. I am making money waitressing until I figure out what I want to do with the rest of my life. I want to be a writer, but so far I have not written anything concrete.

I love crossword puzzles, Scrabble, and kittens. Though usually kittens and scrabble boards don't mix.

I'm looking forward to going to the events this year!

Hi, all.

I'm Avri, 34, and I work full time for a Summer Camp. [Cue the "What do you do the other 10 months?" chorus . . .]

I live, work and play in Manhattan, sleep in Brooklyn, and this is my first attempt at NaNoWriMo. I've wanted to write a novel since I was a kid, but who has the time? So, since 'writers write', I'm going to be writing lots over 30 days in November - see if I can't prove to myself that I can make time in my life to write into 2009.

I've been on a major pulp mystery kick the last year or so (thanks in part to the wonderful Hard Case Crime imprint) so it seems natural that pulp mystery will be my starting point .

Wish me luck . . .

Yeah NYU kids! I'm Colleen, a sophomore drama major in Tisch. I've been doing NaNo since '02. My first completed novel was actually when I attempted another NaNoWriMo-esque month long novelling challenge with friends in May of '03. but my first official NaNo win was actually last year. Not sure how I did that (actually, that's a lie. It's called the Astor Place Starbucks before studio). My favorite pizza topping is mushrooms. I LOVE mushrooms a ridiculous amount. I also really love the White Pizza at one of our dining halls, which is basically a pesto pizza and is fabulous.

Amy (Changing Pridament) -- I think I know you. Blue Group? (And yes, NaNoWriMo as a first year at PHTS is absolutely possible. I swear, Astor Place Starbucks pre-studio. I would run into Elizabeth there ALL THE TIME. She never knew what I was doing and I think she just thought I was ridiculously studious. Haha.)

Hola! I'm Divvy! This will be my third NaNo, and (I'm optimistic!) my third win. Last year I had no plot whatsoever and somehow managed to come up with 70,000 words (no, I don't know how that happened either). This time around, I've been molding my plot for the past couple weeks, and am hoping to break that record.

When not novelling, I'm a student at... currently nowhere. XD; Hoping to start classes again sometime next year- in the meantime I work at a cafe in a rehearsal studio in Midtown (and am currently wondering how to bring my novel to work). Usually I'm strictly cheese when it comes to pizza, but when I feel like indulging, my true favorite is bacon cheeseburger (just thinking about it makes me hungry).
