Hello? Anyone out there in Lancaster County?
This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo. I was just wondering who, if anyone, in Lancaster County is doing it this year. If anyone is, we should get together sometime before or during November. FYI, I go to Conestoga Valley High School.

I go to college in E-town, so I'll be writing more of my novel in Lancaster County. I don't have a car but I might be able to ride the bus or get a friend to give me a ride if other people wanted to have a write in or meet somewhere.

It seems my post here was lost while the server was down.
At any rate, I go to Millersville University in Lancaster.
This is my first NaNoWriMo, and I'm open to meeting together.

I just started this year at Franklin & Marshall College right in Lancaster, though I live in Connecticut normally.

When and where would you like to meet? i think that before November would be best, because we will all be busy in November. But, I do think it could be possible to work something out in November if you would want to.

I'm not sure I could meet with anyone; I don't have a car, even if I could drive, which I can't. :/ And I don't really have any other way of getting anywhere. But it's the thought that counts, right? =P

Since you are all talking about high school and college, I am assuming that you are all younger than I am (none of you are anywhere near 49, correct?) I just signed up because I have no idea what this is, really, and I was always curious about it. I wrote a children's novel once, but it's just sitting in a three-ring binder, gathering dust. Not really sure why I think I need to try and write another one since I never followed through with the first one. And anyway, it's kind of insane for me to try and write something in November of this year since I am moving from Lancaster to Lititz in mid-November. But somehow I thought it might be therapeutic to create in the midst of upheaval and chaos. I have no clue what I'm going to write about, though.

OOH. I'm tempted. I've always been part of the Harrisburg group, but I actually go to school at Lancaster Country Day (don't judge!) so I'm in Lancaster all the time... and I'm the youngest person in the Harrisburg group, and it sounds like that would not be the case here... hmm. I'll see if I can come to any meet-ups.

I agree, before November would be a good time.
What about the Lancaster Public Library? That might be a good spot to meet.

Hi Lancaster thread! I'm Abi, if anyone remembers me.
Ooh! We had a meeting last year at Prince St. Cafe, across from the Fulton Opera House. Right now they're open all night on weekends, so they are still a good option.

That's a nice place. I hadn't considered it. I'd be willing to go there.
Suggestion:
Maybe we should collect meeting location ideas for 2 more days and then vote on the location (just to keep the ball moving). Then we can move on to dates and times.

I agree that we should vote on a place on Wednesday the 8th of October. So, if you want to help decide, get on computer that day and put in your two cents.
So far, the places we're concidering are the Lancaster Public Library and the Prince St. Cafe.
I would be willing to go to either place.

I'm at Millersville U. too... did NaNo last year and it was such a blast! I might be able to make a few write-ins, wherever it's decided to hold them. :-)

*pops in.* Hey all. Glad to see you are planning write-ins. It's been a while since I've been to Lancaster in town since I worked there years ago. Once you pick a spot, I'll drop in to hand out some goodies.
There had been someone who was going to ML York and Lancaster but since York, Lancaster and Harrisburg are in close proximity of each other statewise, we'll spread out the spread of NaNo.
I'll also change the Regional calender at the top to read Lancaster/Harrisburg/York Events so they can be tracked easily that way.

Since its voting day, I'm going to vote for:
Prince St. Cafe
Justification:
We probably won't have to worry as much about making noise here and there is always the option of purchasing food.

I will also put in my vote for the Cafe.
I was thinking more alongs the lines of the food...I hadn't considered the noise factor. Good thinking.

At the top of the forums, I changed the name to include Lancaster and York so everyone has an easy way to access what is going on where.

Well, voting day has passed, and it seems the general consensus (all 2 of us) is for the Prince Street Cafe.
So, Now, let's move on to available days before November for a meeting. (We can begin planing any November meetings after this decision or at the Pre-november meeting).
I'll send a message to all members of this thread to post their suggestions.

That's actually pretty convenient for me. I could get there! xD
The most convenient times for me would be weekends. I'm usually free all Saturday and... most of Sunday. Other days I have classes and it's more important for me to spend time on homework and such. That's probably true for other schoolgoers as well?

Week days will not work for me because of school and afterschool activites. The only Saturday that works for me is late morning/early afternoon on October 18th. Every single other Saturday in October, I have a marching band competition.
All sundays work for me. Because of church, I would not be able to be there until after noon.
Is it correct to assume that we will be vote on time and date on Saturday, Oct. 11?

So far we seem to be leaning toward the weekend.
I agree. It would quickly become a hassle to try and do this on a weekday for those with jobs or school, myself included.
I am going to suggest that we don't meet on Sunday because of limited bus service and because the cafe closes at 3 PM anyway. (between those two issues, there isn't a very large window in which to hold the meeting).
I suggest we meet on a Saturday (October 18 or 25) and make sure the meeting is over before 7:00 PM. (Because, unfortunately, bus service is also limited on Saturday).
Indeed, since our earliest potential date is only a week away, its best we give people as much warning as possible.
So, we will vote after 5:00 PM on Saturday October 11. This still gives people time to discuss.

I'll put my plug in for Saturday the Oct. 18th at 11am.
At this time, it's not too early, but also there is enough time to still have part of the afternoon and the evening to do other things.

I think I would prefer to have the meeting in the afternoon. I have to drag someone along as it is, partly to help me find it and partly to help me get over my initial xenophobia, and (being in college, and that being a Saturday) I don't want to force anyone to wake up too early.
The 18thor the 25th shouldbothwork for me, as far as I know. The 25th is more subject to change though.19,986 / 50,000

Hai, I'm L, and I'm a freshman in high school. Nuff said, I suppose.
The Prince St Cafe is kinda ages from where I am, though I'd love to go..... Argh. If there are any other meet-ups (such as the convenient Lancaster Public Library...) could someone please let me know somehow? Thanks! =]

What exactly would be our goal at this meeting? Just to help each other plan, or what?
EDIT: Shoot, I can't do the 18th! I just remembered that's fall break and I'll be home in CT.

I can show up on the 18th or 25th between noon to 2pm. (and after sweet talking my boss into letting me leave early) I work over at the Manheim Auto Auction in the mornings so it wouldn't take me long to head over and hit up Lancaster.
The Pre meeting is to meet each other and talk and chat about their story and to give each other support.

I will be at a band competition for the rest of the day (won't get home until around 11:30 pm). I'm going to vote early. Sorry if it is an inconvenience.
I vote for Sat. Oct. 18th at 12:00 noon. I don't know how long it is going to last.

I'll vote for the 25 at noon. Either day at any time works for me but the 25th gives me more time to try to make arrangements to get there.

Well, I just got back from my marching band competition, and since it is now Sunday, I guess that the voting is over.
It looks like the meeting will be the 25th at noon.
Unfortunately, I will not be able to make the meeting, due to another competition. The competition lasts all day - late morning until very late at night. (The 18th was one of the only competition-free Saturdays in the marching band whole season.)
