Heyo! I'm a new co-ML for the PA: Elsewhere group! Based halfway between Allentown, PA and Reading, PA, I'm hoping that we can get a decent sized group together for this little stretch of 222!
A little bit about me:
- I'm Nicki
- I've been NaNo-ing since 2003
- This is my first year as any sort of Municipal Liason
- I'm more excited about November than any other month
- I can get a little stupid in my excitement, so please forgive me in advance
I haven't yet gotten my plan together for my novel this year, but usually I don't start to really even think about it until October. But I'd love to hear what anyone else is planning!
Also, if anyone has a blog or website, personal or business, that they may or may not drag into the wonderful chaos of NaNo in November, post your links! I'd love to learn more about everyone!
I think I've covered everything for now. So who in this forum hails from Topton? I'd love to hear from Kutztown residents too, including KU students/staff! And is there anyone in Reading who'd like to join us? Me?

Hi! Glad to have a fearless leader for this little neck of the woodsish area. :D Last year, Reading had four or five of us hijacking a section of the Paper Mill Road Borders cafe every Tuesday. This year, hopefully more (I got a roommate I keep trying to make reconsider doing nano again. XD she will not be moved. sigh.)
Anyway, I go by Lilu, but RL people can call me L. I've been doing nano also since '03 (though I was over in Pittsburgh then), and have done it every year since, trying to find someone in driving distance that I know where the heck anything is. XD; I'm over in the cute little towns of Boyertown/Bechtelsville/Oley/etc, and am stoked to start writing.
I don't lurk the boards often between October and November, but I'm sure I'll catch up between now and then. :D
Good luck with the cat-herding. <3 ^^

Hi again, Lilu!
Well, my magical mystical ML powers have been revoked for the PA: Elsewhere category, but property re-implimented for the PA: Lehigh Valley category. My bad for announcing my ML-coolness here - I'm actually a co-ML over for the Lehigh Valley!
I am still hoping to get all my projects done by October 31st, so I will be able to devote my November to Nano meetings, and then I can make some Reading ones as well as LV ones. WOOHOO!
Meow...!

Hi Nicki,
I'm dzineprof. It's good to hear a group is trying to start in this area. I tried very hard to get some people together in Kutztown the past few years (I tried to be ML as well but no one ever responded to me). That aside, we did have some success with meeting at the Uptown Cafe on Saturday mornings.
If you're open to it, I'd love to try to meet in town again this year. Bonus: I'm a prof at KU and can certainly open up our staff conference room if we want together there (Sharadin Art Building), though I'm open to anywhere between Douglassville/Kutztown/Reading.
This is my 3rd year doing NaNo and I'm hoping for my third win. I have the basis for my novel, I just need to flush out the plot and characters a bit better. This year is going to be a hard-core murder mystery. Now if I could just get my last year's novel edited and finished...
Cheers!

I'm over in Reading. been doing this three years (Well counting this year).
No need to be forgiven. I'm ready to jump at the gate (As in I'll be preparing myself to start a 24 hour writing spree on Halloween (My favorite holiday) Already told the boss that I wanted the first off, and got it.
I started a blog for this year's NaNo. http://pixiesnanowrimo.blogspot.com/
I'm also trying to get the characters in my head, they'll be dolled and posted here http://tejinashinsen.deviantart.com/ before the first of the month, that way I have a visual reference while writing.
And of course sections will be up on my personal site (The writing site linked on my DA account) Soooooo I think I'm mentally ready for this year's Nano. Yeah the writers on my Fanfic site already know that I'm not going to update that site for a month unless I finish my 50k words early. I'm hoping to make it to 100k words this year. All in one month.

NobleGhost--of course Halloween is your fav holiday (mine too for other reasons).
222-dilemma. In between K-town & A-town. Is Hamburg (Hard Bean Cafe) outta the question?
Or maybe there's a meet-up at another more central location...does it have to be at a book store?
Am in awe of goal of 100,000wds. nice.

I'm going to have to look where Hamburg is...okay, well, it's not completely out of the way for me, considering I drive to Allentown every day for work, but it is at least beyond my usual range. How does anyone else feel about that?
I'm up for anything in Kutztown, though, definitely, and I'm desperately hoping a mid-morning kick-off on Saturday the 1st will work for the majority of people here. I'm good for a coffee place, but coffee isn't my thing, so as long as I can A) bring my own caffeine, or B) get some sort of sickly-sweet cold coffee variant, I'm good to go.
YAY NOVEMBER!
Oh yes, I want to be Writing Buddies with anyone who'll be claiming this area as home for any part of November so I can support and/or pester as necessary. Add me too, if you like! I'm going for an official 75K word count as my goal this year, not just accidental, and I KNOW I'll need the support!

I'm totally up for a mid-morning meeting on Nov. 1st.
Can I go out on a limb and suggest the Uptown Espresso Bar in Kutztown? (top of main street right near the campus) It has all kinds of coffees, hot chocolate, chai teas, fresh squeezed orange juice, other bottled drinks and loads of sweet yummy morning treats. It's comfy there and we won't be kicked out no matter how long we decide to stay or if anyone brings their own drinks/snacks.

I don't know Kutztown that well, but hm.... Might get me to go exploring. As long as there's caffeine I'm fine. I'm actually thinking of just bringing a notebook instead of my laptop (The laptop has like 8 minutes of battery life on the battery, so it's a great desktop instead.
Then again I don't know Hamburg that well either. Oooh the decisions. Well I'll go where the majority of us want to go. *Has to remember to get a few more notebooks and a few more pencils.*
And Righter *Grins* I've been writing since I was 6. if I type it all, I can do 50k about 40 hours.
Now.... If I use all that in a story is another thing. I tend to write the first draft and only keep like 10k words in the second draft. Only to add in 30 the next draft.
Nikki you're added to my buddy list! *Grins*
I'll be supporting half my friends on DA as well, so one ore 50 more won't hurt.

Wonderful! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.
If you're coming from the Allentown area, Uptown is all the way at the top of the hill to the left near the campus (a few houses away from Sal's and right next to the Art Store) or if you're coming from the Reading Area, it's on the right a little past the campus on Main st.

Thanks for the info. I'll see if I can find it this weekend so I'll know where to go. Keep an eye out for me when I enter on the first. I'll have a purple hooded shirt, and a purple notebook (Get the theme?) Still debating my purple day pack, or using my biker chick purse.
But I know hell or high water I'll be there. I'll need to get out of the house so I can actually get some writing done.

I think I would like to try to do a meet-up at the Barnes & Noble on Broadcasting Road (the only Barnes & Noble I know how to get to in Reading!), so maybe you could make that one? I'll be honest - I don't always do a lot of writing when I meet with other Nanoites. I like to chat, drink caffeine, and chat. :)

I'm the same way, Nicki. I have a hard time writing too, but it wasn't so bad last year. I was part of the orginal group that ended up meeting at the Borders on Papermill Road, not even 15 minutes from the Barnes and Nobles that you're talking about, which I could also get too, and I'm pretty sure I did the least amount of writing. Though I did have the most starts to the most stories in the month.
I had a problem with drinking and chatting and asking questions and opinions and not actually getting any of the writing done until we left and went back home. But then at home, I live with three other girls and had to find new and exciting ways to get creative around here too. Like writing in the bathtub because my room got boring.
So, basically, this all comes down to, I'd be happy to come to a meet-up at Barnes and Nobles!

I'm going to try to make all the write-ins. Is there actually enough room at Barnes & nobles for a bunch of us though? Always seems so stuffy when I go in there.

Hi everybody. I am officially the newbie here, I think!
I've seen the NaNoWriMo stuff all over LJ, and finally had five minutes to click on the link this morning.
Of course, my Muse decided that we were more than up for the challenge. *pained look*
I'm Mish, from Fleetwood.
I don't know if/when I can make meet-ups--honestly I'm no good in groups. (It's a phobia sorta thing.) But I would love to help cheer everybody on!
Most of my writing gets done once my hubby is off to work and my kids are in bed. (He works nights, and the guys are homeschooled, so getting anything done during the day is impossible.) I can't wait to get started, thought I'm still a little fuzzy on where the whole thing's going. Oh, well--I'll just hang on and hope for the best!
*deep breath* I'm actually excited about this.... Or maybe I need more coffee.

oh man...missed the 1st meet up. apologies all over the place. glad to know there are 2 brave ppl in K-town.
things are getting worser and worser. woefully behind in wd count. work in a lull. lost my muse.
and the Halloween candy everyone is giving out makes lunch a prelude to a diabetic coma.
dare i suggest another meet up?
really need the company/pep talks or at least a writing buddy...Nov 8 or Nov 9?
or are weekends out?
maybe we should meet at a gas station. they sell coffee too and who doesn't need to fill up a travel mug?
