Any students who go to school downtown looking to meet up?
If you go to school or live closer to the loop than the Far North, want to gather to meet up somewhere downtown for some nice write-ins?
Personally, I'm Sara, 21 and at Columbia studying Fiction and I love to meet up with some other NaNoers that go to school in the Loop! I'm sure we could find a time and place to agree upon if there's enough of us!

I go to the School of the Art Institute, and am VERY interested in Loop write-ins! I'm planning on spending a lot of time writing at the Argo Tea on Randolph, since it's close to my dorm, but I can write pretty much anywhere downtown! :)

Awesome! Let's see how much more support we can drum up! I'm glad I'm not the only one, at least!
What are you going to school for?

Aren't there already Loop meetups on the calendar? The Monday night ones?

Hmm, I'm going to school for all kinds of things! Really, I tell people that I'm taking a film class this year, and then people think I want to be some hot shot director or film maker. So, I guess I'm not really focusing on anything right now (SAIC doesn't have majors, just concentrations). I really wanna try neon, but I can't study it until next year, since I'm a freshman this year and have to take all kinds of requirements.
Anyway, yeah, that was kind of a confusing, indirect answer, so I guess the short answer is: film... for now. :P

Yeah, but I thought it would be cool to throw out another option for students. There's a college meet-up on the North side, so I thought it might be nice for Loop students to be able to have something similar, especially if some of us can't make the other Loop write-ins.
Also, I believe the Monday night ones are for suburbs? I could be wrong though.
And fyshy, that's really cool--I didn't know SAIC didn't have majors!

I work for DePaul - the B&N in DePaul has a cafe and a lot of space. It gets a bit full during the day, but thins out later on (after 5ish). I'm sure that'd be a great place.
I can also look into maybe reserving one of the office spaces with a conference table - if people are interested!

The Monday night write-in's this year are actually located just north of the Loop right off the Chicago brown line (at Open Books).
Anyway, if/when you finalize a night (or nights) for meet ups, just post the information in the calendar-sticky thread and either Michelle or I will be sure to add it to the official events calendar for you.

I'm all for more write-ins! Especially downtown too! I'm Ali, and i'm a Columbia student too, studying Fiction. I'm living downtown on campus so I'm up for a write-in pretty much anytime.

All right, so, when is everyone free for such fun? I'm free pretty much every day but Monday or Thursday, so far. Depends on how a potential job plays out.
Any favorite meeting places? I personally give mad props to Hi Tea, down on 11th, but the Barnes and Nobel on State and Jackson would also work!
