With both Soluna and me in the Lushguin camp, I'm thinking we might have already achieved critical mass.
The Crabs are going DOWN.
I will pull my usual raid of goodies once we get under way. Wonder how much chocolate they've stockpiled; I seem to be running low.

Since I hail from Northern Virginia, I have a natural rivalry with those crab-pickers across the river. So this year, I have joined the fray. Their fingers may be good for the aforementioned crab-picking, but Lushguin fingers have achieved the more advanced evolutionary state necessary for cranking out MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF NANO. We shall conquer!

If there is a loophole (like I sign up before i leave the state of texas) for the whole "Soluna can't compete" Let me know! ahahahaha
O.K. I am kidding. Kinda...

Pens and pencils (to taste)
AlphaSmart devices (mixed batch)
Laptop computers (the kind with lots of power strips)
Various other writing devices as best suits each participant
Lots of chocolate
At least as much booze
Marinate the first two ingredients together in the final two ingredients and pour liberally over the remaining ingredients. Hand each a crab-cracking device. Turn loose and watch the mayhem ensue.

New Mexico can wait for me till December. I have more important things to take care of first.

Hmm... as of today, Maryland's top remaining powerhouse (TJ Casser) still hadn't joined the war. This lack could seriously damage the Crab army.
It might also severely lessen the number of bad puns and tired cliches that the Nano word-counting robots have to look at as well. Which could be good.

To facilitate the Lushguins being able to lord it over everyone, and to prevent Breca from going cross-eyed on the wordcounts, we also have an alternate forum that will automagically update wordcounts every twelve hours and track:
1) your personal challenges
2) The overall Word War
3) as well as allowing you to sponsor other WriMos.
It's at http://nano.selric13.com
Right now, as the WCAPI for NaNoWriMo is broken (yeah, there's an email in about that), the only way to sign up your personal challenges is through the site form. That will change as soon as the WCAPI is back online. However, you can load sponsorships any time, and you can track your personal progress against your recorded challenges. And you can also check out the current list of Word Warriors.
If your name is not listed, please NaNoMail me and I will fix it! Also remember that you still need to communicate with your commander.
Plus, the site is hosting a number of additional helpful things for the struggling NaNovelist.
Surf on over and enjoy!

Well, good morning Team Lushguin.
How are your HANGOVERS???
How do I know you have them? Well, you are "lushes" and you have clearly been marinating in poor Foster's glass a little too long. After all, how do denizens of Antarctic wastes end up in Texas of all places??? Kind of lost your way, haven't you? Especially poor Caeraerie...
However, I'm sure plenty of happy huntin' Texans are happy you came. After all, according to one site (nerdling.net), you make an excellent source of emergency food:
"Penguin stew is palatable provided the external fat is removed before cooking, and penguin liver is excellent. Penguin eggs are probably best scrambled."
Mmmm, scrambled Lushguins... breakfast anyone? Perhaps some penguin pate?

I'm always happy to provide technical assistance regardless of location.
As for the rest of it...do Crabs sing?
If so, I'd like to hear them compose the ode to their defeat....They can toss in a few verses about how they are slumping back by an average of 600 words per writer...They can explain why it takes them THREE Crabs to equal or exceed the output of ONE Lushguin...They can even provide a few lines about why they seem to be going backwards (my most recent refresh has Texas even FURTHER ahead than we were at 8:30 AM PST)...
And hey, they could toss in a good recipe for crab bisque! I seem to be missing that page from my cookbook...
