I thought it'd be nice to have a thread for Nano-ers in the Poughkeepsie region to introduce themselves.

My name is Masarath. This is my second year doing Nano and I'm totally stoked. I've already got a plot for this time around and I'm falling in love with my characters.

If anyone wants to add me as a writing buddy, feel free :)

My name is Michelle. I did NaNo in 2007 and won. Masarath and I are 26 and have known each other for 21 years (yup, since kindergarten).

Last year on November 17 my boyfriend Mark proposed, when I was at 35k. I said yes, and then proceeded to finish early by writing 8k on the 21st. This year he has joined the site too.

I have no idea what I'm writing this year, but I'm sure it will come to me by November 1st.

Welcome back Masarath!

This is Aimee. This is my fifth year doing Nano and I am also totally excited. I am going out on a limb this year and writing something that is out of my comfort zone in a different POV than I am used to writing, so I am totally excited. I have also been very busy creating my world and characters and trying to sort out my plot.

I still have a lot of planning to do, but I am totally excited and can't wait to get started on writing.

Hey everyone! I'm Rebecca, and this is also my second year.

I thought my novel was all planned out and ready to write (as evidenced by my NaNo page), but I'm starting to have second thoughts. Crazy as this sounds, I'm considering using a different story idea this year ... even though I don't have any of the research done -- in fact, I don't even know half the plot yet! But my original idea is playing hide-and-seek, and doesn't want to come out of the shadowy corners of my mind.

Ahhh, the wonderful mind-numbing madness that is NaNo!

Hello~

I'm Kaiya, and this is my second years doing NaNoWriMo. I'm hoping to actually finish this year, although since I just became a college freshman, it seems like it might be a little more difficult. I didn;t realize that there'd actually be a group for Poughkeepsie, so it's nice to meet you all! I hope I can check out some of the meet-ups with you guys! Feel free to add me as a writing buddy, as well.

Hi, I'm Lidia! This is my third year, and I won last year. I hope to be able to do much better this year, because I got a laptop. I'm 16, and I wish I could attend the write-ins, but my parents won't allow it... I don't really have a plot yet, but I'm very excited! I'm the president of the creative writing club at Arlington High, and if any Poughkeepsie WriMos are students there, feel free to stop by and say hi!

Hi, I'm Rob. This is my second year attempting Nano, an i really hope i do a lot better this time out. I've had around five stories i wanted to do, but none of them were going to be long enough. So after smashing them all together i thought i had a great story, but now I've got like two other stories i might want to do. (Plus the three other stories I've been working on since before nano.) I just hope my brain doesn't blow a fuse

Hi, everyone!
I'm Kat, and I'm from the Poughkeepsie area, but I'm at university in Pennsylvania. I do, however, have a week-long break to spend at home around Thanksgiving, and I hope to make at least one event, if any happen while I'm home. I'm afraid you won't *see* much of me for write-ins and meetups, but I'll be there in spirit! XD
I've been writing for a long time, but this is my very first NaNo. I'm going to be doing an urban fantasy. I have a vague plan for the first two-thirds and I'm hoping the third third will turn up when I get there.
Good luck and fun to everybody!
- Kat

Howdy! I'm K.C. This will be my second year attempting NaNo, but really it's my first, since I only made to about 200 words last year. (My brain completely shut down the moment my laptop powered up. COMPLETELY! I think 100 of those words were, "I can't think of anything to write, dammit!") Anyway, I work at Marist, live in Poughkeepsie, and hope to attend as many write-ins as I can.

To Lidia: most of our write-ins are in very public places, if they are worried about your safety. I don't know if that will help you. Regardless, we are all adventurers on the same quest, so we'll be with you in spirit!

Hello,

My names JuliAnn and I'm 19. This will be my first attempt at NaNoWriMo... I've heard abotu it for a couple of years, but never had the guts to try. I'm looking foward to next month, but I am also worried. It seems like SOOOO much is happening in Novembe and that 50 thousand words is looking PRETTY big.. It doesn't help that on the very first day of NaNo that I have practice from 10-5 for a play. Oh joy. I am planning as much as I can... and hopefully I'll finish it.

Welcome!

I know 50,000 is an intimidating number, but if you can find an hour of free time at some point during the day, it's totally achievable. If you have time, come to the Muddy Cup in New Paltz on Sunday at 2:00. We are all getting together to sit down and write our books. You are more than welcome to join us.

Best of luck!

Hi All!
My name is Heather and this is my very first nano.
I've warned my husband, kids and friends, but I don't think even I know what I'm getting into yet.

I don't have a plot yet. I have some vague characters.
My hope is that they show themselves once I get going.

Good luck everybody (and ME!).

Hi,

My name is Russ and I live in New Paltz. Yes, 50,000 words is indeed intimidating! But a great cup (or cups) of coffee sounds like a great idea. Nothing like obtaining the maximum target heart rate while writing. This is my first attempt with Nano and I hope it's not my last. As a teacher, this is going to be a tough assignment! I hope to meet everyone at the Muddy Cup on Sunday. I'll have to check with the wife to see if she'll let me out of the house. Good luck everyone! I'm getting a little nervous about this new endeavor. I bought the book: No Plot? No Problem! as well as the novel-writing kit. I need all the help I can get.

Good Luck!

Russ

Hi, I'm Mary (web name Binnebrook) and this is my first novel, something I've wanted to do all my life. This is pretty amazing. I'm over 10,000 words, and I know what I'm doing tomorrow!

I commute back and forth between Rosendale (Ulster County) and Brooklyn, and hope maybe to get to a write in later this month if there's one on this side of the river. I'm generally in the area Friday and Saturday.

Cheers!
