Things are finally set up! Basically, we have a write-in/meeting every Saturday at the West Lafayette Public Library. If you want to come in early or stay late, the librarians have told me that's fine, just grab a table until the room's open.

November 1: 2-4, Elm Room.
If you didn't start as soon as Halloween night ticked over to November, come in now and get your first couple thousand words written (and if you did start at midnight, come in anyway and get another couple thousand words written!).

November 8: 10am-5pm, Anywhere.
This is an all-day write-in to take advantage of the end of your NaNoHigh, the second week is when things get tough so take this time to build up a suitable cushion for those days to come when you just can't even stand to look at what you've been writing.

November 15: 10am-12, Elm Room.
Let's all get together for some writing (if I'm awake enough to flail at the keys accurately) and brunch (translation: donuts). Why so early? I figured a change of pace would help shake everyone out of their comfort zone and tap into a whole new creativity (translation: I didn't reserve the room early enough and this was the only time available).

November 22: 2-4, Elm Room.
Started to figure out how it's all going to end? Yeah, me neither.

November 29: 2-4, Elm Room.
If you're almost there, cross the finish line today with your local WriMo's. If you're not even close, try to make in anyway. If you've already won and don't want to do this anymore. . . you get a gold star if you show up and put a few more words on it?

If anyone is setting up other events at alternate venues, feel free to NaNoMail me and I'll add them to this list.

Reasons To Show Up

1. You'll be more productive writing in a group than writing by yourself. Something about all the clicking keys or scraping pen-on-paper noises just makes you feel like you can write better than you can (or better than the person next to you can).

2. Built-in Instant Idea Generator. Need a name for your main character's one night stand? A good restaurant for a break-up in one of your sub plots? The location of a worm hole that opens into a dimension of Lovecraftian horror? Just call out the question; anyone with an idea, shout it out.

3. Challenge Cards. For when you're seriously stuck, have nowhere to go and absolutely anything would be better than where you are. They aren't The Seventh Sanctum but they're the closest thing you'll find IRL.

4. Prizes for every 1,000 words written while at the write-in.

5. With the exception of November 8th (during which we will be adhering to the library's No Food policy), I'll try to come up with some kind of crunchy and/or sugary snacks. (Yes, I'm someone you met online trying use candy to lure you into meeting. . . I guess that really does happen.)
