CALLING ALL FIREFLY FANS!
Welcome to your cozy little home. I KNOW you're out there. In this kind of community, there's gotta be a few of you shiny folk lurking about.
Come aboard this boat and let's chat a while!
Name's Rachael, 19, hailing from Seattle WA. I've cosplayed Mal and Zoe- was Zoe in my local Sereniversary shindig skit. If you're in the Seattle area too, check out Wayward Coffeehouse- it's the local haven for us 'coats.
Introduce yourself- what's your favorite episode? What would you have wanted to learn more about if Firefly had stayed on the air? Favorite character? Favorite quotes?

Ni hao, 'Verse! Lol, I'm Angela, I'm from IL & I loooove Firefly! I'm kicking around the notion of doing a Firefly fanfic as my Nano this year & just the other day ordered 'Those Left Behind vol 2' from Amazon (which should put a kink in my writing time when it shows cuz I'll drop everything to tear through it, lol). I tried running a Firefly forum style rpg for a bit, but couldn't keep enough people to get it rolling real good.
I'd have loved to have found out more about the mysterious past of one Shepard Book for starters. Faveorite ep? Hmmm....*ponders* I like 'Out of Gas'. And Favorite quotes? Lol, I have a ton! "We have done the impossible & that makes us mighty" - Mal, "Sir, you seem to have a problem with your brain being missing" - Zoe, "Oh my god! We're all doomed! Who's flying this thing?!? Oh right, that would be me, well back to work." - Wash, "If you take sexual advantage of her, you're going to burn in a very special level of Hell. A level they reserve for child molesters and people who talk at the theater." - Book, "If I could make you prettier I would!" - Jayne, "Yes sir, Cap'n Tight-pants." - Kaylee, No. -This- must be what going mad feels like." - SImon, "They say the snow on the roof is too heavy. They say the ceiling will cave in. His brains are in terrible danger." - River, "Oh, someone needs to keep Kaylee out of trouble. And all my things are here. Besides, why would I want to leave Serenity?" - Inara. There ya go, one for everybody, lol.
Feel free to message me here or IM me @ aim - lumatam, ym - lollypop1407 if anybody feel like chatting about Firefly or NaNo or...whatever.

Browncoat from Australia here.
I don't have a favourite character from Firefly, it sort of changes nearly everytime they speak.
Jane comes out with some of the funniest lines but how can you go past Mal and Kaylee and River and....
I have to admit though, I was a late bloomer and only put on the browncoat after seeing Serenity. Firefly didn't really make a noise in Australia until after the movie. I love all of Wheedon's stuff though.
Anyway, it's great to meet you two.

I honestly don't have a favorite character, they are all dear to me.

Yay! I love finding fellow Browncoats.
Favorite Episode: eee? Train Job, maybe...or the Pilot...but then Our Mrs. Reynolds is so funny...
Favorite Character: Either Mal or Kaylee, but I think they are all shiny!
Favorite Quotes: No power in the 'verse can stop me.
I do wish Firefly had stayed on the air, but I've seen Serenity, and I've been following the comic books like the rabid fan that I am. I even dressed up as Kaylee for the pre-screening of Serenity in Dallas. o.o

ROFLMAO. One of my favorite moments hands down.
I posted here earlier but it got eaten when the server suddenly died. Anyhow- my favorite quotes/moments- the ever-popular dinosaur scene with Wash in the pilot..."You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with til you understand who's in command here!" "Captain, I think you have a problem with your brain bein' missin'."
Favorite episodes...Trash, the Train Job...Gosh it's so hard to pick one!! Characters- again a hard one, but I should at least TRY to answer my own questions...Mal, Zoe, Jayne, Wash...vacillating between all 4 of those at different times.
Anyone go to any fun shindigs for Sereniversary?

Proud Browncoat here in central Texas, though I didn't discover the series until after Serenity. I think I've done a superb job of making up for lost time; I'm one of three admins on a very active Firefly RP site. We pride ourselves on being 'role playing for writers.' The site has been active going on three years now. NaNoMail me if you'd like to check it out; I'll cease the shameless plugging and answer the questions that've been posed.
Like a lot of Browncoats, I want to know more about Book. How did he know so much? I want to find out whether Niska ever got what was coming to him or did he just re-build after Mal escaped?
Favorite episode: War Stories. The Message and Out of Gas seem likely candidates to be tied for second.
Favorite character: Simon was the one I was drawn to first, then Kaylee, then Jayne, etc. etc.
Favorite quotes, moments: some of the interplay between Book and Jayne are priceless "Saint Jayne; it's got a ring to it!" "Shouldn't we all step back a bit before he opens that?" Mal and Zoe have some good moments in The Train Job as well "Can I have your share?" "No." "If we die, can I have your share?" "Yes." War Stories, though... "You wanna meet the real me now?" The movie has some priceless moments as well I could go on and on, but I'm sure more posts will be exchanged to toss good Firefly quotes back and forth.
Keep flyin' fellow Browncoats! I'm off to corrupt some of the folks on my site and see if I can drag them over here.

Oh, I haven't seen Firefly (Antenae TV, no satelite or cable) but my uncle has Serenity and let me borrow it and it ROCKED! I can't wait to see Firefly! *needs money* It is on DVD, right?
I don't know who my favorite character is... I like them all. I guess I like River the most since she beat up Jayne. XD But, I know my favorite quotes. (Gosh, I wish I could see Firefly! *cries*)
"I don't wanna blow up!" -Jayne
----------"I swear, if anything happens to her, I will get choked up. Seriously- there may be tears." -Mal
"At last, we can retire and give up this life of crime." -Zoe
"I swallowed a bug." -River
"Ain't nothin' twitched my nethers in over a year that weren't run on batteries!" -Kaylee
"Can we go back to the part where Jayne gets knocked out by a ninety-pound girl?" -Wash
"Am I... talking to Miranda?" -Simon

My coat's brown.
Tim, 25, Calgary. (I'm the awesome guy on the front page on Oct 13)
Favourite Episode? All of them? Heh. If I had to pick some... Our Mrs.Reynolds and Jaynestown make the top two I suppose.
Favourite character... all of them? I really can't pick one... or two... or three.... or any number higher than nine. Mal, Zoe, Wash, Jayne, Kaylee, Simon, River, Inara, and Book.... all of them... equal footing.
Quotes? Too many to count. Off the top of my head...
Inara: (pissed) "What did I say to you about barging into my shuttle?"
Mal: "That it was manly and impulsive?"
Inara: "Yes, precisely. Only the exact phrase I used was 'don't'."
Jayne: "Do you know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with till you understand who's in ruttin' command here."
Harken: "You fought with Captain Reynolds in the war?"
Zoe: "Fought with a lot of people in the war."
Harken: "And your husband?"
Zoe: "Fight with him sometimes, too."
Harken: "Is there any particular reason you don't wish to discuss your marriage?"
Zoe: "Don't see that it's any of your business, is all. We're very private people."
[Cut to Wash.]
Wash: "The legs! Oh yeah, definitely have to say it was her legs. You can put that down. Her legs, and right where her legs.… meet her back. Actually, that whole area. That, and… above it. … Have you seen what she wears? Forget about it. Have you ever been with a warrior woman? "
Inara: "Are you in pain?"
Mal: "Absolutely. I got stabbed, you know, right here."
Inara: "Eh— I saw. "
Mal: "Don't care much for fancy parties. Too rough."
Inara: "It wasn't entirely a disaster."
Mal: "I got stabbed! Right here! "
Mal: "You know… they walk just as easy if you lead 'em."
Jayne: "I like smackin' 'em."
Mal: "Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?"
Zoe: "Big damn heroes, sir."
Mal: "Ain't we just."
Mal: "Now, you can luxuriate in a nice jail cell, but if your hand touches metal, I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you."
Jayne: "Six men came to kill me one time. The best of 'em carried this. It's a Callahan full-bore auto-lock. Customized trigger. Double cartridge thorough gauge. It is my very favorite gun."
Mal: "[chinese cursing]… Are you offering me a trade?"
Jayne: "A trade? Hell, that's theft! This is the best damn gun made by man. It has extreme sentimental value. It's miles more worthy'n what you got."
Mal: "What I got? She has a name!"
Jayne: "So does this! I call it Vera."
Mal: "Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly comin' to a middle."
Simon: "My God. You're like a trained ape... without the training!"
Wash: "We gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero!"
Jayne: "No, really, Mal, I mean, maybe there's something to this. The Mudders? I think I really made a difference in their lives. You know -- me, Jayne Cobb."
Mal: "I know your name, jackass!"
Jayne: "Hell, I don't know. If I wanted schooling, I'd-a gone to school."
Mal: "One of you is gonna fall and die, and I'm not cleaning it up!"
Zoe: "This is something the Captain has to do for himself."
Mal: "No! No it's not!"
Saffron: "Durran, this isn't what it looks like."
Mal: "Unless… it looks like… we're stealing your priceless Lassiter, 'cause… that's what we're doing. Don't ask me about the gun, though, 'cause that's new."
Durran: "Well, I appreciate your honesty. Not, you know, a lot, but…"
Simon: " This may come as a shock, but I'm actually… not very good at talking to girls."
Zoe: "Why, is there someone you are good at talking to? "
Jayne: "How's it sit? Pretty cunning, don't you think?"
Kaylee: "I think it's the sweetest hat ever."
Wash: "A man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything."
Jayne: "Damn straight!"
Mal: "They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself."
Inara: "I suppose you heard most of that?"
Mal: "Only because I was eavesdropping."
Zoe: "No one's gonna force you to go, Jayne. As has been stated, this job is strictly speculative."
Jayne: "Good! Don't know these folks, don't much care to."
Mal: "They're whores."
Jayne: "I'm in."
And there's so many more...

*waves at everyone* LA firecoat here!
For my 17th birthday (now 19), my now husband sent me the boxed complete season and Serenity for my birthday. I had no clue what it was, or why I should care. Well, now I know. ;)
Favourite character: Mal or River, but they're all awesome
Favourite episode: Shindig... or Our Mrs. Reynolds... or... ;)
Favourite quote: "What does that make us?" "Big Damn Heroes, sir." "Ain't we just." or "I swear by my pretty floral bonnet, I will end you."
Or just generally most quotes. ;)
My brother actually has a pretty floral bonnet now... he's very proud of it, and likes to play with his knives while he wears it. Probably one of, if not the only, almost 18 yo guys who wear floral bonnets. *grin*
So we're all browncoats (and I haven't dressed up yet, although I dearly would love to... I'm a browncoat as are both of my parents. My mom is a total Jayne fan, it's almost scary in a cool sort of way. I don't really have a favorite character they are all awesome in their own special way. Never cared very much for Inara though.
My favorite episode I think is either Jaynestown, Ariel, or Objects in Space. There are defiantly to many favorite quotes for me to list.
I totally loved Dr. Horrible too. How could you not? Its the only "show" I can think of that could get away with talking about Australia having keys, comparing people to pie, AND "confusing" a super villain and Gandhi.

Oh, I absolutely love this show. =3 Another browncoat here.
One of my favorite episodes has always been "Out of Gas." That's an awesome episode. I also love "The Message." I've never seen "War Stories," because when I first started watching these shows (a long time ago), I was only...eleven-ish, so my dad wouldn't let me. xp I've never gotten around to seeing it, though I did see River's infamous scene in it.
As for quotes...
Mal: "But she does have an oddness to her. And I ain't just talking about her proficiency with firearms. Girl knows things. Things she shouldn't. Things she couldn't."
Jayne: "Wha-...are you-are you sayin' she's a witch?"
Wash: (sarcastically) "Yes, Jayne. She's a witch. She has had congress with the beast."
Jayne: "She's in Congress?"
Wash: (amazed) "How did your brain even learn human speech? I'm just so curious."
Jayne: "Eating people alive? Where's that get fun?"
Wash: (to that jar with a cow fetus...) "Do not fear me. Ours is a peaceful race, and we must live in harmony..."
I love Wash. Also, pretty much every other character.

----------I've cosplayed as Mal and Jayne. I couldn't pick just one episode I'd have to say Ariel and Jaynestown.
Besides what's been revealed about River and will be about Book, Inara's past and why she left House Madrassa(sp?) is something I was curious to learn about.
My favourite character would be Mal then River.

Browncoater from Australia here. Just been rewatching all Firefly episodes to help me study how writers use 'technobabble' and so on, and forgot to study, they were so enthralling. Man, 'Out of Gas' is just amazing.
Anyway, I've roleplayed some Firefly with a small group of friends and while watching Firefly last night I realised that Nathan Fillion is who I (completely unconsciously) modelled one of my last year's NaNo characters on. Guess that means I'll have to get that book published, into a film-deal with Whedon directing so Nathan Fillion can play my character! *cackles* I wish.

Hello there! Name's Fae, 34 (ooh I'm the oldie round here, it seems)!
Favorite episode...Ariel, because there's tons of Simon and Jayne comments on his pretty mouth. :) What I would have LOVED to learn more about is the homoerotic subtext Adam Baldwin said in an interview that Joss was heading towards and would likely have been explored between Jayne and Simon had the show stayed on the air.
I won't be writing Firefly for my NaNo. Despite loving the characters more than I should, I've never written them. I just don't think I could do them justice. So I'll be writing original fiction instead.
