Last NaNoWriMo there was Meet-ups at the Schaumburg Borders, the one By Golf and Meacham, kinda. ( I can get better direction for anyone if they're needed.)

Anyway, a few of the people that from last NaNo (me included) are planning on doing a pre-nano meet up on the 28th (Tuesday). What we'll be doing is pretty much just socializing, talking about nano and what we plan to write about this nano--just a little group pep talk, I suppose.

All WriMos are welcome to join us. Anyone planning on coming?

When you know the times, just post a notation of all the info in the calendar thread and I'll put it on the regional calendar for ya...

I know that I cannot make it, for being up in Wisconsin right now, but I would love to have a Schaumburg meet up during NaNo as well. :)

I'm out in Lisle, but it's a quick jog down 290, so I'll be there! I'm hoping it'll be an evening thing...

I may or may not be there. I'm actually living in the UK at the moment, but I might have to return home in another week or so for reasons that I won't bore you all with. If I'm around, I'll certainly be there :)

The time will be 7pm until Borders kicks us out or people want to leave.

Here's the exact location and stuff:
http://www.borders.com/online/store/StoreDetailView_61
(1540 Golf Road)

Also, I wanted to ask what days are good for people for some sort of weekly meet ups? Last year it was Tuesdays and the few people I'm in contact with are saying that Tuesdays are still best for them. It's still up for debate, of course; if everyone wants a different day, well, we'll just see what works best.

Every Tuesday at 7pm sound good for you all?
(Starting on the with NaNo meet up on the 28th of October.)

I will try to make it - I did NaNo in 2006 and want to do it again this year! Hope to meet everyone then.

Tuesdays sound good. I did not make meetings last year, but I will ramp up and try for it this session.

Awesome. I'm happy all of you are so interested in the meet ups. I plan on trying to get to the meet ups slightly early to get a table or two for us. I'm also going to make a "NaNoWriMo Meet Up" sign to stick next to me so people won't be squinting across the room wondering who's with nanowrimo.

You can actually print a tabletop tent if you want! That's exactly what they're there for...

Tents are pretty, but don't worry about finding us. Just look for the loud, obnoxious, over-caffeinated group with laptops :)

Yeah, I found the tents on the site like 10 minutes after I made that post. I'm going to be printing one out and bringing it along.

Thanks for adding it to the calendar, by the way, too.

I've just joined and since right now 50 000 words seems really overwhelming..a little encouragement would help from people who've done it before. Tuesday 7pm @ Borders...count me in

I know I can make the Oct 28, but with my schedule at work I probably won't be able to make a whole lot of them. It be fun to meet up with people though. Count me in for this ^^, no doubt I'll still be working on my outline and character sketches at that time. So wish I had my laptop still.

What time? I work nearby. I'm not absolutely sure about this year, but I'm inspired.

The time is 7pm to whenever everyone leaves. I expect people will hang around until 9 or so, but that's just my guess.

Here's the schedule:

I'll be there, as you already know.

I may be hanging out there on Mondays as well if anyone is interested. (Monday and Tuesday are my days off, so... Yeah!)

Also, I work nights and live nearby, so I have some flexibility on when I can be available to hang out there. If anyone prefers a different day/time feel free to say something and maybe we can work something out.

Peace,
Ricky D

I won't be able to make it until the middle of the month (11/18) but I'd definitely like to come.

I'll do my best to show up for one of these -- though I may have to write from the Kids' World section as I'll have my daughter with me. :-)

Look forward to seeing all of you Tuesday!

Hopefully this time I can actually get there early enough to get a good table, one close to power outlets, too.

To anyone on the fence about attending a meet-up/write-in, I’d highly suggest it. For instance, I met a good group of people yesterday at Borders. There was a general sense of encouragement, coupled with a “we’re in this together” feeling. And let’s not forget the budding craziness and heightened caffeine intakes that helped push things along. Plus, I’m pretty sure only one or two of them were actual axe murderers, so your chances of living through the night are pretty darn good, if you were to show up, say . . . next Tuesday. Anyway, on to my two complaints for the evening. . . .

The first is only minor, but the darn cappuccino machine—which sounds like a bunch of angry cats having a bar-fight in a blender—had a habit of breaking one’s concentration now and then. But what’s one to expect in such surroundings anyway, right? And now onto my second complaint, which can be summed up thusly: Hard wooden chair (no doubt stolen from a Soviet internment camp) measuring an 11.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness – Score 1 vs One uncomfortable fat guy (namely me) – Score 0. Indeed, my money will be on the chair again for round 2.

Anyway, it was a good time overall, and we even had a little, furry friend visit us. Thankfully, he or she was on the other side of the glass at the time and didn’t try ninja-spritzing me when I left.

Hope to see you there.

Chudz

P.S. I’ll admit I’m curious if it’s possible to get enough people with laptops to show up and trip one of the breakers in Borders, thereby plunging the store into darkness. Unless of course, YOU are from Borders and then I’m aghast at such a thought! How dare they!!

Indeed, I am one of those axe murderers referred to in this post.

Lizzy Borden sure set an example for the ladies. It's hard to live up to her standards. Anyway, I am not able to make next week, the 11th, as I am pulling a double shift and forgot. But I will be there on the following weeks.

Good luck writing and hope to see everyone at an event or two!

Anyone interested in meeting up on Monday and/or Tuesday, I will be at Borders from mostly open to close on both days being that they are my days off and I am not willing to pay for their Interwebernets. Thusly my productivity should increase umpteenthfold.

Anywho, just look for the guy in the crazy, bright orange, beret of awesomeness [no, really] and that will most likely be me.

*INSERT SMILEY FACE TO APPEAR WARM AND APPROACHABLE!*

That's all the time I have for today. Looking forward to seeing some of you on Tuesday, if not sooner. [Except that one guy who calls me "Borscht" for some reason. I look forward to that guy getting a paper cut under his fingernail.]

Peace,
Ricky D

OK. Today (Monday) I'll be there a little late, I expect with a few errands I need to run this morning, but I should be there near noon and hope to close the place down (11 PM ish). Same deal tomorrow except I should be there around opening (10 AM? Not sure, I'll find out today...)
