not just little ditties here and there, but i'm toying with a pseudo political satire / philosophical sort of t hing (think blend between Orwell's "1984", Bradbury's "Fahrenheit 451", plus Tone Onnepalu's "Border State", Bohumil Hrabal's "Too Loud A Solitude", and Miroslav Krleza's "The Edge of Reason". (all amazing books which i would totally recommend by the way :D )

quite honestly, for my own eyes and for anyone who speaks the language i study, it wouldn't be a problem, but has anyone had actually written consistently in two languages? like, i want the majority of description / dialogue / interactions to be in english, but when it comes to the main character's thoughts and some description that'll act as background, i want to write it in another language (namely, the language of my main character / my focus of study, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language).

but i've just never really done that, minus the codeswitching i do on a daily basis between BCS and Turkish and English, and i'm just wondering if anyone's done it / any comments / thoughts / whichever / misc. :D

With my series, there are words I'm using from two different languages other than english; Latin and Irish Gaelic. It's an important difference between the groups and it's something the characters naturally do and I learned not to judge them based on that. Although I know it'll be the downfall when I try to get things published >.<

I'm doing something similar, but on a smaller scale. I have two minor characters that only speak in their own language, I'm doing their dialogue in their language. One will speak french and the other english (I'm brazilian, so the novel is in portuguese).

If you have your mind set on doing it so, I guess you just have to do it... if you aim to get it published you can deal with that later ;)
