A rest stop and meeting place for Endurance Writers and anyone else interested in joining in the daily (and nightly) timed sprints. Hosted by various EWs as called upon. Sprints may be for as little as 35 minutes or last as song as an hour, depending on the gathering. The purpose is to focus on free writing and kill the internal editor lurking in your head.
Welcome

Hi, June! Gosh, is it really that time again? How the months rushed by. Thanks for setting up the rest stop. We'll need a place to kick back at the end of the day or whenever.

Looking forward to meeting past EW members and new ones. We had a blast last year and proved we had stamina enough
to finish, or try, 50,000 words in thirty days.

Next stop? The plotting board.

See you all in November.

I've been wandering a long, lostly time. So glad I chanced upon familiar territory, and writers I love to boot! I haven't brought anything but a canteen with some water and copious muses (yikes...some are scantily clothed, some elaborately costumed, so watch it!) who are wandering amuck beyond the trees...but I'm good at finding supplies. I'm thinking I could easily find some coffee beans...anyone interested in caffeine?

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for setting up this page, June. I'm looking forward to doing the Nano sprint this year, and it's great to have a place to rest and chat with everyone from the Endurance Writers. It's nice to have a little place of our own here.

Welcome Cheri!
So glad your little grouchy buns found their way to the oasis. We'll have a good time and zoom through the 50k words in a blaze of glory. Limber up those fingers and corral the muses. Its time to line up at the starting gate. Grind those beans woman! We need caffeine...

Welcome dianewb!
So glad you're with us this year. We had a great time in 2007 and almost everyone made it through the finish line.
This is a good place to be able to measure your progress among serious writers...Well, maybe not so serious,, but productive writers.
Look for lots of encouragement and info on different sprints to join at different times of the day and night.
Make yourself at home.

Hi Carol!!!

It is indeed that time of year. The months and our fingers have been flying with daily writing. As we usually groan at the end of a sprint....Already???

Welcome back to the rest stop. I hope last years gang jumps in again and that a whole bunch of new sprinters decide to join us for the fun. At the end of the 30 days, Its such a shock to realize how productive one has been. Of course, one has to hide the body of the dead internal editor...but that's a small inconvenience.

I have several loose amorphous plots running through my head. Not sure what I will write, but for sure, I will write something. Last year, I came to the start line with character sketches and a fully articulated plot in hand...and ignored them all. At the stroke of midnight on November 1st, my Muse (he looks a lot like Matthew McConnaghey and never wears a shirt) took over and wrote something else...so, I'm giving him free rein this year. I will feed my body peanut butter sandwiches, but my Muse gets caviar and champagne.

Good luck with your plotting, Carol. I think I'm pantsing it this year just to see how much trouble I can get into. ;)
*hugs*

I found it! Hello sprinters.
Let's see if I'll be able to make my way here once November hits.
Hope to catch you all on Yahoo -- just love those sprints! Now, if someone would pass me the SuperGlue so that I can keep my butt in the chair...

I'm still hoping to finish Luke's story before November 1 and decide what to write for NaNo. At the moment, Simon's story is looking promising.

I have no idea what I'll write for NaNo at this writing. But . . . within the next two weeks I'll have to get it in gear and do so. Sometimes I'm a panster, other ms need more structure. Not that I stick to all the outline, but use it as a guide and keeps me on track. With only 30 days to master a first draft of 50,000 words, a map helps. So here's hoping the muse strikes soon!

Just wondered if anyone else had gotten their ducks in a row and settling into their plot.

Hey Tara!

So glad you found your way here. And so glad your characters are in charge. Just tie on your sprinting shoes and let them take you by the hand. Get ready!!!

Hi Carol!

Are you kidding? My ducks are just waddling around quacking up a storm. Some are swimming in the pond. I might as well try herding cats.

I could always try the NaNo outline I so carefully prepared last year and ignored. It is certainly in pristine condition.
Whatever we do and however we do it, I'm certain that we'll all get to break the tape at the finish line.

Hello Everyone!

I'm ready to rock and roll this year. I'm working on some plotting later today. I'm going to use a story idea I came up with a couple of years ago, but never got a chance to do anything with. Look forward to "hanging out" with you all and getting lots of writing done this year. It's 50K or BUST.

Hey everyone I remember (Tara, Carol, June and Cheri)!

I'm still finishing up my plotting and character sketches, hopefully I'll be all finished by the time NaNo starts. I'll be on this Weds for any sprinting. Good luck to everyone else getting organized and ready.

I'm not plotting yet, Carol, but I do have a plan. Does that make sense? LOL

Now, to get the new flash drive and I'll be all set!

Coffee please! Nice and fluffy with whipped cream/caramel and chocolate drizzle. :-D

Hello, neighbors:

Just checking in since it's been a while since I've "seen" anyone. It's good to be here!

My internal editor (I'm glancing sidelong at him now, and he looks a little like Al Pacino at the end of a long, hard workday) has made it clear that he is not interested in looking at every word that comes out of my pretty little head. When I finish something, he will put it into the "IN" drawer and get to it when he can. So generally, he doesn't interfere with me as I'm writing, which is good.

(The Muse is the same way. No matter what else I'm busy with, he will slap me on the back of the shoulder and say, "Hey. These two want you to write about them. What are you doing back here? All these people are waiting for you. Get moving. Chop-chop.")

Anyway, I'm working on my outline now, and trying to clear one last project before the end of this month so that I can hit the ground running. This year, I'm "racing the turkey" and trying to finish on or before the 25th, since I know I won't get anything done during the holiday. So I know I'll be seeing a lot of you very, very soon!

I miss you guys too! I've been spending too much time in the forums instead of getting the work done.

In addition, something about working steadily on one outline has brought all my other characters out of the woodwork, along with some new ones I haven't met yet. So I'm trying to keep up with them, too.

I'm going to try to catch you all soon so I can get all my ducks and bad boys and villains and hot cowboys and werewolves and the women who love them in a row before 11/1.

Whew!

Welcome back to the EWs who NaNoed last year and Welcome to the new sprinters. So glad you're here.

I'm stocking up on things at the grocery store that require little or no prep and freezing small batches of soups and casseroles. Who wants to cook when you can write. And the 15 pounds I've lost will probably come back to haunt me as I go into a snacking frenzy, but at the end the new NaNo book will be much more exciting than thin thighs...I hope.

See you all at the starting line.

Hi, all!

What a wonderful gift of community June has created for us once again! (Hugs and kisses flying south to the little town of Cleveland, TX)

I am all in for NaNo this year. Cleared the calendar except for a couple of mandatory meetings and plan to finish with a bang this time. With what, I have no clue, but finish I will!

Looking forward to sprinting with everyone again this year!

I'm SOOO looking forward to November 1st! I'm still trying to make my final decision on what project I'm working on.
I'm hoping to keep up with my school work so that I can work on my writing in the evening!

Just poppin' in to see how everyone is doing. We're on the final count down. What's everyone doing in prep for the mad dash?

I've done some cleaning, a little outline, and this week I'm meal prepping.

Kelly, you and I are doing about the same thing, except instead of the meal prep, I'm trying to finish one last story. Hopefully I can get to the store Friday night and pick up some things for the crock pot and a couple of boxes of microwaveable fudge. On Saturday morning, I'm starting on a 10k word weekend challenge.

I had never heard of microwaveable fudge until a couple of days ago. What a terrific invention!

Hey Lexi -- good to see you. Microwave fudge -- I make that, but I've never used a box mix. Sounds like you're stashing chocolate for NaNo. I'm in the same boat as you -- trying to finish the current ms so I can move on.

Double Chocolate Fudge recipe

1 can (14 oz) Sweetened condensed milk
2 cups (12 oz) semisweet (or milk) chocolate chips
1 oz unsweetened chocolate
1 tsp. vanilla
1 – 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts

Butter 8 x 8 x 2” baking pan.
Stir milk and chips in 2 qt. casserole. Add chocolate.
Microwave on high (100%) for 1 minute. ( With an 1100 watt microwave,
I usually use 80 or 90 percent)
Stir.
Microwave until chocolate is melted and mixture can be stirred smooth,
about 2 minutes longer
Stir in vanilla and nuts.
Spread mixture evenly in prepared pan.
Refrigerate until set.
Remove from pan; cut in squares.
Store in tin (best if refrigerated).

Enjoy!

Hope to catch you on the sprints. I'll need many of them!

Greetings to my fellow EW Nano Sprinters!

Since consistency is the key to winning the NaNo, Carol and I would like to offer daiy sprints from 12-4 EST and 11-3 CST. That's 4 hours of sprinting you can count on. If you want to join just IM one of us (junefaver@yahoo.com) and we will issue an invite. All you have to do is write 1,667 words a day and you've got it made. That's 416 words per sprint. Most of us can do that. I know that Tara and Trish will rush off like Olympic track stars...but the rest of us can plug along and still make it through the tape at the finish line.

We will do four 45-minute sprints starting on the hour and ending at a quarter til with 15 minute bio/stretch breaks.
I will probably be writing in the evenings too so the sprints may go on as long as anyone is interested.

NaNo is almost here so flex your fingers and lay in some E-Z prep meals. Show your kids where the jar of peanut butter is and teach them how to run their clothes through the washer. Tell your hubby/significant other that you love him/her and will see him/her in December. Give him/her a photo of you looking alert.

We will be meeting online to kick it off with a midnight sprint on November 1st. Meet you at the starting gate.
~June

Oh, Lexi! That 10k word challenge sounds awesome. Good luck to anyone who goes for it. I'm all for microwavable stuff and 100% behind anything chocolate.

Kelly, I stashed a couple of emergency meals in the freezer and hope that I can maintain the 15 pounds I've so painstakingly
carved off. I have a bunch of popcorn and other things to pop in my mouth when I need to gnaw something. Somehow the celery and baby carrots don't sound as appealing as the Ruffles and French onion dip.

I think I figured out what to write (finally) and have kinda been working on an outline. Mostly, I'm pantsing it this time, since I so overdid the planning last year. Planning I conveniently ignored when carried away by the rapture of some other story line.

Trying to finish a couple of revisions and mailing out submission packages this week. I know, me being submissive...go figure. But I figure that the month of November will pass by pretty fast, so waiting for replies won't be so miserable.

I'm glad to see so many familiar faces returning...and to welcome some new ones. I hope you're all as excited as I am to make this NaNo even better than the last one.

Are you ready to rumble??? Vroom--Vroom!!!
