If you're looking for local participants, we have a place for you! If you'll look under My NaNoWriMo, you'll find the regional forums, where you can find local Wrimos and arrange meetups on a closer scale.

Any local/regional group should be posted in its nearest regional lounge.

Could you direct me to where a regional group for new england might be (one to encompass ME,VT,NH,MA,RI,CT) ?
Or do I have to post in each state?
Thanks.

Look under My NaNoWriMo => My Regions to find your nearest local group.

Hmmm that didn't answer my question, but thanks anyway.

I was looking for something more broad than just hyper-local.

There are usually "elsewhere" forums for each state. We don't go in larger regions that that, although you aren't restricted to one particular regional forum, you can subscribe to as many as you like.

I have a similar question. I live in a geographically coherent (as in it has a name) area that straddles a state border rather squarely. Would it be okay for me to create a thread in this forum for people in my area so that we don't have to keep track of two threads in two separate forums (I think it would be unfair to privilege one state over the other, forum-wise)?

Sorry to take so long; it's been hard to keep track of posts this year.;)

honestly, while it may not seem "fair" to choose one state over the other, that's kinda what you need to do. it's not showing preference, it's just accepting the fact that our software doesn't really support strange borders. :)

One thing you COULD do is ask the MLs of each area if they mind you creating a thread and then cross-posting it across the two forums. That is possible; it's just something we don't use often, and both areas have to agree to it. Basically, it creates one thread that appears in both lounges.
