The lovely Scarlett Archer has once again volunteered her place for weekly write-ins. They'll be held on Sundays from 1PM onwards at Scarlett's home, which is 37 Windsor Avenue, McKinnon. If you need directions or want to confirm that people are still writing, please contact Scarlett on 0415 088 052.
The first write-in will be the 1st of November, then the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th unless otherwise advised.
BYO food and drink, writing implements of choice, powerboards and extension cords (if you have boards and cords available).
N.B. Write-ins are primarily focused on writing. They can be a social time as well, but if a word war or quiet writing time is in progress, please respect that.
Also, Scarlett has cats, so anyone allergic to cat dander should take that into consideration.

I know, how good is it? It'll be good catch-up or pull-ahead times for those who can make it, and for those who can't make it there will of course be word wars running on IRC again.

I promiced myself that after coming to the drinks last year I was going to make an effort to get to as many write-ins as possible.
In fact, while cleaning my house up for a move, I made a point to keep my laptop cord out of the cardboard boxes.
Only to discover yesterday that I in fact kept the wrong cord out of the boxes and managed to deprive my self of the ability to power my beloved laptop until such time as I can get the boxes out of storage and find the damned thing.
I'm semi sure that most dell laptops use the same type of cord. Any chance that there will be someone there with a dell laptop whose cord I could borrow for a little while?

As with the drinks sessions, I'll make an effort to attend at least one of them. Will be awesome though.

Augh. I would go, but I know from experience that there's no buses on a Sunday from McKinnon Station, and it's too long a drive.

Can you not just drive to the station and train it from there?

Yah, station is down the road from me so trains are running all day.
It's on the Frankston line for anyone wanting to know.

I'm not sure entirely what you mean with that, but to get there I would have to catch the Flinders Street train from Sydenham line and then catch a Frankston. A trip I usually make, but the Metlink Journey Planner advises I would need to catch a bus... and there aren't any buses arriving there until 4.

Which stage of the journey is it telling you to get a bus at? Scarlett's place is walking distance from McKinnon station if that's it.

Is there a limit on the number of people who can fit in your house? Coz I'm definitely RSVPing yes.
Do you need people to bring sitting-on stuff? I don't actually own a bean bag but it would be the best excuse to buy one :)

If you check out my address on maps.google.com you'll see that there's no bus necessary. You just catch the Frankston train, get off at McKinnon Station and walk directly down McKinnon Rd.
Personally I've never used Metlink Journey Planner as it's never given me much good advice!

Rhynan:
Because I'm in a HOUSE this year as opposed to a small apartment at this point nope, no limit. I even have a back verandah porch thing if it get's sunny. Hazzah!
Beanbag would be good, although I'm sure I'll have enough seats. But that's up to you.

So... close... to home....
I really have no excuse if I DON'T turn up to at least one of the last three (can't make the first 2 because of exams... >_>)
It would be a good excuse to do something, as well as to meet new people (and associate faces with names). I just hope that I don't have any weird things that I do when I'm writing or thinking....

Considering the weirdness that happened last year, you'll either have nothing to worry about or fit right in.

I won't be dropping in today. Will probably turn up next week though. And I've recruited a friend, so she'll probably come to drinks on Wednesday, and potentially to the write-in next week.

EDIT - Confirmed, I'm coming along +1 (boyfriend).
I might not be able to bring a laptop though, depending on whethef my bf's mum is going to be home or not and/or wants to hog the Macbook and/or comes home early and rages that her Macbook isn't there, so is anyone coming with a spare?
----------I'll bring along a extension cord (possibly a spare whether I get my HDD near a powerboard) and my own powerboard too.

Ok so I'm anticipating a small growth in how many people are going to be turning up tomorrow.
So I'm letting everyone know prior to getting here:
1. Get here here fairly on time. Otherwise you might be stuck in a corner on the floor somewhere LOL. Unless you like sitting on the floor then it is all yours!
2. Please bring some coinage with you. For just a few dollars each we can create a kitty and then I'll go out and get stocks (as an unemployed novelist bum I'm limited to how much I can buy). I figure if you cook something and bring it then you're exempt from this but I'm thinking mainly of drinks so we can have a nice range of liquids for everyones liking. It won't cost that much really.
3. For those who were there last time I'm thinking of bringing in another dining table so we have two tables and the lounge going. How this is works I don't know, but it will certainly be interesting.

Danny and I will be sitting this one out for personal reasons, so if anyone else can help out with spare powerboards that would probably be useful.

I can't make the writein this coming Sunday, but with any luck, I can make the next one. That is, if I haven't gotten ahead of myself and finished (unlikely).
So I'll end up stopping writing on Wednesday, and come back for the final push on the Sunday write-in.

Ok, for starters: I have borrowed a laptop, so no more pen and paper.
Second: I can bring pizza. At the moment my plan is to just grab 3 (from work, Pizza Hut, so on the cheap) and will bring them in at the 1pm time, so lunch/late lunch. (One veg, couple of mixed ones, if you would like more let me know before....11:30 am)
Third: Still have spare bowerboard so 3 extra slots
Think that covers my plan for Sunday.
