Hey!! It's another year of WriMo Madness! Yay!

So this is just a little post to get to know each other.

I'm Lily I'm one of your MLs. The other is Duochan who'll post in a bit. I live in Malvern and get the train into Birmingham quite a bit. :P But if anyone wants some write-ins organized in Malvern, in addition to the weekly Birmingham ones then just drop me a PM and we can sort it out. :)

So a bit about me. I'm 18 years old and doing my third year of college. And this will be my 5th NaNo!

Just stopped by to say hello. I am Sallie one of the new wrimos & probably one of the older age group (51). I am based in Staffordshire and am just back from a lengthy period in the States so am re-adjusting to a completely different UK to the one I left. I have taken a year off to write this novel and am using Nano as my springboard. I am studying with CJ Emerson (Objects of Desire ). My genre is crime/thriller. I have actually donated $25 about a month ago although there's no sign of a halo so the West Midlands total should be higher.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys.

I'm David, a playwright really, but I've written first drafts of two novels taking a year over each. This is my first attempt at Everest.

Hi, I'm Stephen. Fell flat on my face last year but hoping to do better this time.

I've taken part six times before, writing Rolnikov, Mad Knight of Uttar Pradesh (fail - 15K), The Fear Man (win), His Nerves Extruded (win), The Doom that Came to Sea Base Delta (win), The Day the Moon Wept Blood (win), and We Slept Through the Apocalypse (fail - 25K).

I haven't thought seriously yet about what I'll be doing this year.

Hello fellow Midlanders!

My name is Gary, I'm 21 and currently live in the city of Coventry! Anyone else round here?

Technically my third attempt at nano, but my second serious attempt, and my first when I have no major distractions or issues to contend with and so I am determined to get my first win!

Providing my job hunting doesn't get in the way I hope to get to know people in person, but if not then I'll definitely be around the forums!

Good luck everyone! Lets have a good year for the midlands!

Hey everyone!

I'm Jenni, I'm 21 and I'm in Hall Green in Birmingham. This is my second NaNo - I failed catastrophically in 2007 but this year I'm determined to finish it! I graduated uni this summer (BA Politics from Sheffield - oooh!) so now I'm job hunting and reluctantly adding to the Government's unemployment statistics. So really there's no excuse to not win this time...

Hopefully see all of you at some of the write-ins and around on the forums!!!

Hiya guys; newbies and returning NaNoers :P I'm hopefully, fingers crossed, going to find the time to take part in NaNo this year. Unfortunately for Ms Cieria over there, I don't think I'm going to be able to challenge you to 200k as my work limit just skyrocketed with a completely mental Business Studies teacher... hmm...

Either way, I hope to break 50k with my idea then perhaps write some short stories if I get the time afterwards. I'm itching to write some of those, so they'll be nice little changes from my main arc if need be anyway!

Fingers crossed this year that I'll stay sane for the duration of November, unlike last year which required me to drop out (not long after a loss, and later recovery, of my work until that point) and feel sorry for myself until December.

Hats off to you all for signing up and the best of luck :P

----------

You know you're a bit mad when you write a novel called "Mouse and his pact with Lucy, also known as Stan, for the return of his opposable thumbs" which is sure to annoy both members of a variety of religions and cat lovers... hmm...

I'm Tom, I'm from Leamington. I've won NaNo the last 5 years :) But have no idea what if anything I'm going to write this year. Still, it would be a waste of a November not to write something, wouldn't it?

I'm also still editing my 2007 NaNo on the grounds that it's the only one I dared read after the event. That was two years ago! What have I been doing with my life?

I'm Sam/Zee/Zo/Oy/It (delete as appropriate), and I'm 22. I'm at the University of Birmingham, but I now live in West Yorkshire. However, as I love the Quillers so much, I'm staying attached to this region rather than moving to York and Leeds and attending their write-ins (don't wanna do that lol). I will be attempting to attend as many write-ins as humanely possible, but it's all dependant on my funds and my sanity. Funds because it costs money and sanity because I'm pulling 8am to 8pm days just to get to uni so we'll see how it flows.

This will be my 4th NaNo..........I think.........or is it my third? Well anyhoo, I've done a few of them but last year was the first one that I actually got to 50k. This year we're aiming for much of the same, but it's the dreaded dissertation year. Eeeps.

Sue/Lily - I received your email by and by - sorry for not replying to it; I've only just got back from filming. I have the feeling it might clash with some family party thingygumma so I'm waiting on the parents to get back to me on that, but put me down for a provisional yay if that is possible.

Hi I'm Alex and I'm 18 (well 19 by November) this is going to be my second attempt after my spectacular failure last year. Hopefully I should be making every write in, except the October 31st one, so I may actually finish the novel!

Hi

I'm Jim. I love in Coventry and work in central Brum. This will be my third nano. In 2007 I got about halfway before becoming employed and stopping writing. Last year I won with a couple of days to spare.

I'm Andrew from Shrewsbury. Just turned 26 and am a recent graduate of Wolverhampton University where I studied Creative Writing & Film Studies. This is my second attempt at NaNo. Tried in 2005 but failed before even a week had passed. Trying to get a few mates (and my girlfriend) involved this year.

Hopefully try and make some of the meets but as I work weekends usually it might not be possible.

I work part-time at GAME, but am looking for full-time work while trying to establish myself as a game critic/reviewer. Also working on some side projects as well as contributing to Wolverhampton's youth magazine Krash.

There, that's brought you all up to speed :)

My name is Roisi, I'm originally from Scotland but now living in Birmingham and I'm 22. This is my first ever NaNoWriMo and I'm very nervous! Looking forward to meeting some of you at the write-ins, I have some ideas and I hope I can put them together into something that makes sense! Why oh why did I choose Sci-fi.

Hi

I am Stephen and I am based in Stafford. I did NANO in 2004, 2005 and 2006 and then took a couple of years out (though I did do Script Frenzy) and have decided to come back for 2009. Well, I have only just decided (a few hours ago) so I am now letting some ideas brew for a while.

Good writing everybody

Regards

Stephen

Hi All,

My name's Jen, I'm 27 (will be 28 before November) and this is my first ever attempt at the 50k.

I'm a little nervous about doing this as I work full time at a University, am studying for a Literature degree in my spare time (with the OU) and run a household. I'm gonna try and get a few words here and there when I can get time on the one PC we have in our house. I think as this is my first attempt, I'm aiming for 20,000 words and anything I achieve above that will be a real bonus.

I live in Smethwick in the West Midlands, although I'm originally from Essex. I moved up here roughly 18 months ago.
In the past I've mainly written horror, sci-fi or erotic fiction, although I'm happy to try my hand at any genre. I'm really looking forward to challenging myself to see exactly how I do.

All the best,
Jen a.k.a Ginger

Heey. I'm Emma!
I'm 19 years old and at the University of Worcester studying Primary Education. This will be my second year, managed to only just complete it last year! Will probably struggle more this year because of placement and loads of uni essays...
Not sure if I'll be able to make meet ups in Birmingham. But if anyone is willing to meet up in Worcester, let me know :]

Hi all,

I'm Laebrye aka Dave. Last year was my first NaNo and my first win. This year, I have a better idea of what I'm going do than I did at this point last year.

On last year's success, a spy thriller I called Shut Down: I'm still editing it, and I haven't got far at all. The end of chapter 3 is beckoning but I'm struggling.

I'm based in Worcester. Write ins are currently a grey area for me, as I am currently in a financial stranglehold. That might change come November though, so I do hope to make it to at least one. In the meantime if anyone wants a write in or meet up in Worcester/Malvern I think my budget will stretch to that.

Looking forward to November!
Dave

Hello!

I'm Rollasoc (or Chris, I answer to either).

Still unsure if I will take part this year.

At the moment, I'm living in Bridgnorth, but possibly moving to Shrewsbury in November, if I can find somewhere to live.

I'm a software engineer by day and a photographer most of the rest of the time, I'm also in a band. So busy busy busy.

Won nanowrimo in 2006 with my novel "Lies, Damn lies and sadistics". Was surprised I managed it, since I did move house that month too.

Missed 2007, since I was made redundant and thought job hunting was a better use of my time that month. In hindsight, I may have been able to have found the time to do it.

Have no idea how I managed to win last year, with my novel "The stealer of hearts", Started seeing my lady friend on the first of November, (still together), plus spent a week recording a new (still not released) EP, plus commuted to and from Brum for my job... Plus did some photo shoots. Yep, last November was a blur.

I know it was a sequel to the first one, but really have no clue what went on in it. I haven't looked at it again since I finished it. (Except last Friday, when I sent it off for printing totally unedited, I would rather read it as a bound book than on the computer).

So to 2009. I want to finish the trilogy, but have no clue what happened in the last one. Hopefully, I'll get my printed copy back in time for me to read it and think of a plot for the final installment. (Probably using quite a few of the dares from the fantasy dares thread)

Failing that, I may write my serial killer novel, I have been thinking about since the '80s.

Failing that I may skip 2009 and make 2010 the year I finish the trilogy. (Then I will start editing them).

I will probably have a go this year, even if I fail miserably. There is nothing like a challenge and the thought of an insane deadline to motivate you.

Hi!

I'm Miranda aka Wurdsmyth and this will be my third NaNo..

I live in Stourbridge and by day I'm a feature writer for a company who write reports for the food industry (so anything you want to know about the riveting subjects of Omega-3 or convenience foods, I'm your gal!)

I won NaNo in 2007 with my comedy-thriller 'The Mystical Wombat's Guide to Life' and in 2008 with my very British spy-thriller-comedy 'Travels With My Teapot (or Tea Ladies, Arise!)' which saw humble tea ladies revealed as a crack team of undercover agents working under the radar in governments, media and seats of power...

This year will be a bit different as my very first book is published by Avon (HarperCollins) right in the middle of NaNo'09 (Nov 12th) - It's been a bit of a crazy year with countless edits and getting my head around actually being published, but I always intended to do NaNo this year, so hopefully I'll use the month to write book 2 (which I have to deliver by December this year!)

I haven't managed to make any of the meets over the past two years as I used to work weekends, but I'm going to try my best to make some this year.

All the best everyone and hope to meet you soon!

Miranda xx

I am one of the older nanoers (45) and there are a few of us kicking about.

I am not sure how far I will get this year cos I have exams on December 1st (they have obviously never hears of nano) so I will have to see how my priorities are going....but I will definitely try

I will be at the kick off and look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones :)

Hi, I'm Lloyd.
This is my fourth year of nano, I've never won but I am hoping to buck my trend of year on year decreasing word counts (this year being made more difficult by more karate and the fact that I have recently learnt to knitting and have just started knitting a christmas present).

I'm Rob, so you don't have to be.

Mildly gobby, usually friendly, often late.

Played twice, won twice. Mild idea what I'm doing this year, though must admit I'm not too taken by it at the moment.

Am 23, am from down Longbridge direction, though should supposedly be living up in Scotland by now. Sigh.

Looking forward to seeing new faces, and familiar ones, too.

Hey there guys and gals.

I'm Jason, I'm 24 and live in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire (the smaller one that no one really knows about) I've been saying I'ma do NaNo for about the past 5 years but never actually got anywhere with it, so this year is going to be the year. Have an idea for a complete trilogy of books that I want to write, it's just a case of writing them so I figured that NaNo will give me something worthwhile to do with my time in between looking for a job. It'll hopefully help me kick this World of Warcraft addiction I seem to have picked up (again.)

So yes - hope to see many of you in the various meets in Birmingham. =]
