It sems like its that time of the year again. It's so nice to see old faces well old usernames. Come say hello in this topic and tell everyone a little about you.
We want to know about your username, where are you in Kansas, how long you have been on nanowrimo, and what interest you in writing. Also we want to know a little about what you want to write this nanowrimo even if it's a genre.
I personally can't wait to meet you all.
I might as well post a bit about myself. My name is Kendra and I live in Emporia, Kansas full time now that I just married this last July. I am twenty-two years old and I have been writing since I was very little. I still have little stories that I made when i was just learning to write. I have been doing Nanowrimo for five years, which means that i started in Olathe, Kansas at high school. When I came down to my college here in Emporia I found out that not many people heard about Nanowrimo and started to spread the word. I am in my third year of being an ML and I am often found all over the forums doing what ever I can to help. I am now minoring in creative writing and so spreading the word through my classes. I can't wait to meet all of you and I hope everyone will have fun.
A little on my writing. I usually work in the romance and now I am touching in science fiction. I am known for having huge goals on the site but this year I am thinking of just staying in 50K because I am also having to write a whole novel for a class that I started in August. So I'll be pretty busy.

High I am Stephen Bartholomew, also known as Stealth Blue, sort of. Actually Stealth Blue is my Alter Ego. Say Hi Stealth.
Good day to you all.
He likes to speak very formally. thediarywithin, aka Kendra, introduced me to Nano three years ago (Gosh it has been a long time.) I had to take a two year hiatus because I was preoccupied by a mission for my church. I am so very much looking forward to Nano this year. I have a great idea that has been incubating in my noggin for almost the last two years. (actually it might just be reaching two years now. I remember going through nano withdrawal when I came up with this idea.) I don't think there is a definite genera that I write, I like to put a lot of analytical satire into situations of fantasy and science fiction. That halfway describes my writing style.
Kendra and I grew up across the street from one another in Olathe KS. I have been writing since early on in junior high. My first few attempts were... well lets just say they are firmly locked away where they won't see the light of day again. Luckily, I succeeded in my first attempt at Nanowrimo and I am proud of the novel that came out of that adventure. I am editing it slowly but surely and I hope to get it (somewhat) published via Lulu.com by the end of the year.
Well, If I think up anything else that is relevant, I'll spill my guts here. Hasta luego amigos.

Hi! I'm Darah. Sarah in reality. :)
I live in Wyandotte, and this will be my first year doing NaNoWriMo. I'm really excited for this because I've never written one story at such length before. I've been writing on and off since I was young, journals mostly and the occasional story. Even started one with my sister once. Anyways, most of the stories I started then went untouched for years due lack of an attention span. Lol. Now I just write whatever random idea pops into my head, whatever genre. But mostly short stories, childrens, other random fiction. Anyways, good to meet you guys!

Hi! I'm Maddie. I'm in Atchison Kansas. This'll be my fourth year doing NaNo. I'm pretty excited to get started writing, even though I have no idea what I want to write about or even what genre. I'll probably end up defaulting to satire because it's the most fun. Oh, also, I'm 18 and a freshman at Benedictine College. I come from Wichita, though. I actually made a new account this year, so some of you may remember me as Kairi.

Hi everyone! I'm Jess. I started NaNo in 2006 thanks to Kendra and took last year off due to lack of proper internet and computer access. (Sometimes living at home isn't always perfect! lol) But, I'm super excited to be back into this! I grew up in Derby and just moved back to Emporia after getting married this summer. I work as a substitute teacher in our district and am hoping that this will get my foot in the door for a more permanent job. :)
This year's novel is going to be a Christmas story which unlike The Christmas Blanket, my 2007 disaster, will actually get completed! :) I'm really looking forward to getting started as I have absolutely no plot, just a title and handful of characters. Fun times, right?

Hi, I'm Lorraine and I'm down in the SE corner of Kansas in Pittsburg. I won my first WriMo last year with an untitled piece. I don't have any plans for it, but I might cannibalize some of the best parts for another book I'm planning. : ) It was the most amazing feeling to finish, and I'm anticipating another exciting adventure this year. It's better than Christmas!
At least this year I won't have to throw a 50th birthday party in the middle of everything, causing me to pull a 6,000 word night to stay caught up!
This year I plan on working on the first of what I hope will be a series of cozy mysteries based at a small spa. So far, I have some characters and a floor plan of the spa/resort, but no crime, no motive, and therefore no plot. What fun! : ) I'm hoping things resolve themselves soon. . . maybe I just need more time in the hammock.
One of my WriMo buddies and I are planning an event for SE Kansas, so keep your eyes peeled for our announcement. We're still hammering out details, though we're fairly certain it will be on November 14th in Pittsburg from 7-11 p.m.
I've got to get to bed, I had 2 nights this week staying up all night with a sick friend at the hospital and am running on fumes. Looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

My username is my real name, so there's nothing really to explain there! I live in Pittsburg, Kansas (and am the friend of BellaMishka helping to plan an event here in November), and this is my second year doing NaNo. Last year I got incredibly stuck doing a mystery. But my horror novel this year already has more of a plot, so I'm feeling confident. My horror novel is really a haunted house next door story, with an obsessive compulsive woman as the MC. I've posted more about it on my profile. However, I feel like I'd write in any genre that pops a story into my head.
My biggest challenge -- other than writing 50,000 words -- is keeping my schedule clear enough to have time to write and keeping my pets happy in the process. My elderly cat loves NaNo because it keeps me still for long periods of time so I'm a great lap to curl up in. :)
Nothing much else to say, except it's great to be back!

My user name came out of an attempt to nam an original character in a fanfic I'd been considering writing but ended up not writing it because my muses didn't like it. I don't remember why I used it here instead of sisko66002 which I use everywhere else.
I've been writing ever since I discovered fanfiction, specifically slash fanfiction, years ago. I have a few fics on the net, but most of my my fics are unfinished because my multitude of muses are hyperactive, have ADHD, and love arguing over what I should write and how I should write it.
I don't have an idea what this years NaNo will be or if even I win using it I'll be able to actually finish unlike unlike the results of NaNoWriMos I've done in the past. Mostly, I hope that my muses cooperate with me so I'll be able to concentrate on this years fic without them trying to get me to work on other fics.
Also, I plan on attending all write-ins here in Atchison and any others nearby I can get transportation to. which, sadly for me, can be very hard for me to get for things out of twon. That is if my job search and a job if I manage to find one, don't keep me from attending.

I'm normally not a forum person, but I figure I should do this right. None of that lurking business.
I'm Missy/Melissa/Mel/Lissa/whatev. I hang with the Lawrence group (KU student) during the year, so I'll be participating in their NaNo efforts. Still, I think it'd be silly not to take advantage of write-ins closer to home and lots of new NaNo friends. I see there are a few others here in the Olathe area, so maybe we can make something happen even closer than KC.
I have a billion and one writing projects going on between school and the paper (I'm a KU columnist, the '09 Science Fiction Scholar, working on my honors thesis, and taking all writing classes), but who can't squeeze in more? Between the Lawrence writing group and support from KU faculty, I've been working on making my writing goals more of a priority in life. NaNo just seems like a natural result of that.
I made one prior NaNo "attempt." I stumbled across it, wrote a few pages, decided I was way too busy. Now that I realize I will always be too busy, this year's efforts won't be half as lame. I'm in it to win it.

Hey all, I am Mauri my username is Balmaudaj a concoction of two of my favorite Final Fantasy characters and well my actual name. I am from Great Bend Kansas, which is practically smack dab in the middle of Kansas. Anyway, it's a small city/town and kind of quiet.
This year is my first year. I am usually on Gaia's Writers Forum and every year since 2005 I've seen a forum for nanowrimo, though I've had a different username for a while, and this year I decided to get up the courage and drive to try to do this. Well, this year I am planning on writing a dark fantasy most likely, but other than that I don't have too much of a clue as to what exaclty I'd be doing. Except maybe I'll put some Greek Mythology in it, I am a total Greek Mythology nerd.
Usually I am just a lurker, so this time seeing as it is my first I'll try to keep with the forums to make this experience better.

Hi. I'm Sarah. I've been writing since I could hold a crayon, more or less. I write a little bit of everything except horror, but there's generally a romance plot/subplot. What can I say? I find writing about people more interesting than anything else, and love tends to bring out all kinds of interesting psychological issues and odd situations. I'm considering trying my hand at fantasy this year since I wrote sci fi last year, but I haven't decided. I usually change my mind at least three times, then write something completely different at the last minute anyway. It's worked for four years; might as well not mess with a winning formula. My goal for this year is 104,000 words to beat my 2007 record of 103,000, but I'm not really rabid about meeting it as long as I beat my cousin's word count. She dragged me into the crazy world of nano, knowing full well I get weirdly competitive, so it's her own fault.

Hi everyone. My name is Icy. This is my second year doing Nano. Last year was my first. I did make the word count and continued to work on my untitled piece but it is currently unfinished. I didn't think I was going to be able to do Nano this year but I will after all and have a story idea I'm excited about. I want to start writing it today, but I'm going to wait lol. I'm married and I am a mother of a wonderful four year old who I'm homeschooling for the time being. Right now it's more of a trial basis to see if it is something we will want to continue to do. I'm excited to be back this year and hope to get to know you all a bit better. I'm terribly shy and sadly that applies to even writing in forums so while I read most of them I don't reply because I'm afraid I'll sound stupid. Lol chances are I might but this year I'm wanting to get to know others who love writing as I do, so I think that's it.. :)

Hey Icy,
My name is Nikki. This is my first time with Nano. I am not shy but I am not tech savy so I don't usually post either. Maybe we'll grow together. I am 30, married for 7 years and have three children...a six year old daughter, 20 month old son and a 6 month old son. I am currently a stay at home mom and I love to write as well. I am writing a childrens book for nano next month.
You mentioned you are homeschooling. I am an elementary teacher so if you ever have a teaching question, feel free to ask me...I looooooove teaching and miss having my own classroom. I am not sure if and when I'll return to it though.
----------Talk to you soon,
Nikki

Hello Icy! Welcome back, and don't feel too shy! I tend to be a little shy myself, but this year I've decided to really step out of my comfort zone and be more extroverted. This has led me to adopt four newbies and I'm still willing to adopt anyone else who needs a helping hand!
Hi Nikki! I'm a teacher too! Well, a substitute teacher right now. I'd like to have a full-time position, but right now nothing's available. But, I'll keep hoping for something!
Great to see more people! I keep hoping that I'll check my Derby thread and actually see other people on it. Right now I feel very alone. :( But, since I'm actually in Emporia, having people there makes up for it! :)

Well, it doesn't hurt to aim high. It doesn't cost any extra. Depends on whether my mom decides to do nano again this year since we share a computer. We finally talked her into it last year (unofficially) and it greatly lessened my writing time. Good thing we didn't introduce her to the forums, or I'd never get on.
