Hey all! Just a corner to say a bit about yourself.

I'm Jinie (not my real name... but meh) I'm from Union Lake, Mi. I currently work as a temp at Quicken, an assignment I'd like to continue :)

I've been doing NaNoWriMo since 2003 and have won consistently since 2005, I'm looking forward to writing my fifth novel! I'm a big NaNoWriMo fan and i'm super excited.

I'm writing fantasy. This year my concept is about four people in different parts of my fantasy world who each have a stone, they must unite the stones and destroy them (or something) to save the world from the evil people or something like that.. the plot isn't really hammered out, just the people. But what is plot but the movement of characters over time!

I'm Tom from Harrison Township. Second attempt at Nanowrimo, 31000 last year. Hopefully I will win this year.

My novel this year is Playing God about what God does when he gets bored. He starts armageddon early, using pawns rather than the horsemen. I don't have much of it outlined yet but I set myself a goal to be ready to go by the 31st.

Plot happens.

Howdy! Tiffany from Pontiac here. This is my 6th year and hopefully 6th win (we'll see how that goes).

I'm back to cheesy detective book this year. I'm not quite sure what the mystery is (someone dies) but I know there is at least one scene where my detective is drinking at Satan's Bar & Grill; Where the Wings are warm and the Beers are cold.

excited to start writing and getting into some write-ins

cheers

Hello! I'm Grace (my pen name) from Royal Oak. This is my third year doing NaNo. I won in 2001 and 2008 (yes, there's a huge gap in between the two because I was wrestling with work issues during that time). I'm so excited to be doing NaNo again. I've even talked two friends into joining the fun!

I write romance/women's fiction. This year's novel will feature two chefs. Sort of like Top Chef with romance and a few naughty bits thrown in.

Hi everyone! My name is Lisa, and I live in Farmington Hills. This will be my third year doing NaNo, and hopefully not my third loss. ^^; I've never even broken 20,000 words, but my schedule is infinitely easier that it was the past few years so the only thing that's really in my way this year is motivation. XD

I generally write romance/adventure/fantasy, and I'm waffling between two ideas right now. So far my fanfic idea is winning, since I have a more stable grasp on that one (writing by the seat of my pants just doesn't seem to work for me, I have to have a plan), but I would feel better if I did something original, since this is the only time of year I really do anything original that isn't for school. We'll have to see, maybe my original idea will develop itself more in my head.

The last few years I didn't have my license or a car, but this year I do so I'll definitely be going to more write ins than I have previously. It's going to be a blast, I just know it. 8D

Hello! I'm Owen, and one half of your Friendly ML Odd Couple this year! I live in Detroit. More specifically, Wayne State's Campus. I'm studying music (for now, that may change...), working at the campus gym/rec center, and generally having a good time.

I've won twice, but not twice in a row. Here's hoping for number three!

I love writing sci-fi, and in the past I've dabbled in it. This year, I want to go full out. Space ships, aliens, the whole science fiction nine yards. I have no real plans except that... and the vague idea of working in some steampunk elements. We'll see. I often do best with very little planning.

By the way, I've been around but this is a new username. If you knew hobbitgwen, that was me.

Hi everyone! I'm Bee [please call me Hadha] and I live in the Farmington Hills/ West Bloomfield area! :) This is my first year doing NaNo and I'm very excited even though I know it'll take some serious dedication to get through this the first time. My schedule this year is also merciless but I plan on trying anyway. I can't wait to get to know all of you! :)

I found that I always ended up hating romance novels... because the subplots were always lacking for me. So I decided to write a romance that I would like. I hope to create the most kick-butt subplot ever! :) Still pulling stuff together but I'm so ready!

Hi, I'm Trombass08 but my friends call me Trom for short. I live in the Hockey section of Yahoo Answers yelling at Homers and Trolls that come into my yard.

In all seriousness, my name is Jeff. I live in Dearborn. I am a student at Wayne State but I'm taking a break from it for a while (non-nano related; rather not get into it).

This is my second time doing Nanowrimo. So far, I'm one for one. The book I wrote last year was a comedy that I had been trying to get on paper for a few years but never quite did.

My book this year will be something like The Muppets meets The Canterbury Tales, but without the Middle English and poetry....okay, maybe some poetry. Basically, a kid fusses in an airplane and the other passengers try to keep her entertained with different stories, each one trying to one up the other.

Hi, this is Wes from Royal Oak, the other half of your Friendly ML Odd Couple. This is my sixth year doing NaNoWriMo, and I hope it's my third win. In real life I'm a software engineer with a few vacation days saved up for November.

My handle is Bricoleur. A bricolage is something cobbled together from odds and ends, so you might guess my approach to writing a NaNo novel. Each year I've tried something different. This year's novel is about a loser who owes money to the mob. An enforcer comes to scare the living daylights out of him, but instead, at the crucial moment, keels over dead of a heart attack. The loser believes he has to take on the mob guy's identity, even though he's fleeing the city, except he's not very good at it. Call it a cross-country comedy of errors.

This started out as a crazy stunt, something completely different to do in November, and now, five years later, once again I can hardly wait to start writing!

Hi, I'm Rachel, from Detroit. This is my first time doing Nano, and I hope I win. *crosses fingers*

I like all things fantasy. The novel I'm planning out is about a teenager intent on finding an ancient book to hopefully end the war between his country and the invading one. It's book one of a planned series.
That pretty much sums it up. ^_^

Hello! My name is Heather and this will be my second year doing NaNoWriMo. I won last year, but my schedule really didn't get in my way. Not so sure I'll have the same luck this year.

I have a couple of ideas I'm toying with for this year, not sure which way it's going to end up. Even though it's totally cheesy (or maybe BECAUSE it's totally cheesy), I'm going to write a romance - but a realistic romance, where nobody's perfect and everyone makes mistakes, with some screwball comedy antics (that are hopefully actually funny) thrown in for good measure. Boy, that sounds just AWFUL! LOL Hopefully I'll have it all figured out before Nov. 1!

Good luck everyone!

Hi, I'm Stacey. I wasn't planning on participating this year but then started receiving all the intros and find you all very inspiring. So I'm in.

My genre is Women's SciFi (is there such a thing? I guess there is now. And I guess I'll just see how it goes.)

Look forward to hearing more from all of you. Thanks again for the inspiration!

I'm Alex, from Wixom. This will be my second year doing NaNo, and I'm determined to win this year. I'm writing what I guess is a supernatural/spiritual story, about a ghost who wants to contact her family before she goes on to the afterlife, and her family hires a paranormal investigation team to 'deal with' the haunting.

Juliaaaaahahahaha, Julia Eff from Ferndale, hi there. Although I do spend quite a bit of time in Royal Oak, too.

This is my first year doing NaNo, I'm unemployed (hands up everbody else who is!), I got out of high school in June, not going to college yet, etcetera.

I'm writing about a couple kids who take off on a cross-country adventure. There is much pining. It runs from 1/1/1968 to 12/31/1968 because I'm fascinated with that year. Shower me with wisdom and cakes, fellow Metro Detroiters.

Hey all. The name's Imelda, Imma for short. (And before anyone can ask, I only own four pairs of shoes!) I live in the Troy area, and I'm a student at a local university, where I have been a student forever. Due to a big snafoo at the beginning of the semester, instead of taking 20 credits I am now taking 12, so I'll have uber amounts of time to write.

I've done NaNo every year since 05, and I'm 2 for 4. I haven't decided what I'm going to write this year (which is odd, because usually I start planning in August.) I have upwards of a dozen ideas floating around my head at the moment, but I'm not sure if any of them will work out. These ideas span every genre from literary fiction to sci fi fantasy to historical and vaguely romantic fiction. . . We'll see.

Good luck all!

Hello! I've been around since 2004, winning since 2005. I hope to earn my 5th win this year. The free CreateSpace books take up far less space on the bookshelves than the binders of two hundred pages!

I have a novel idea that's been in my head since last December, but I'd have to know how the book ends to know how to write it. It's a fabulous idea, but I'm not sure I can do that during NaNo since I LOVE the week that the characters take over and tell me what's going to happen in their lives. I'm not sure when that book will get done if not during NaNo since I'm only allowed get-out-of-doing-dishes passes in November. :)

So, I'm considering joining the ranks of the NaNo Rebels and spend my November revising 1/3 of a previous NaNo novel to 50k. Then ideally I'll revise the other 2/3 into nearly as much each and submitting the whole darn thing to the ABNA contest in February.

That's the plan. It could change...

Hey ya'll! I'm from Chesterfield Township and this will be my first year. *cheesy grinning*

My novel will be about :

Professional thief James Compton heads back to his hometown to avoid being caught by a demon. Astaroth wants the Shofar from the Smithsonian but James knows that if the demon gets his hands on the ancient piece of art, all hell will break loose. Literally. The Shofar can be used to call the Gods for peace or call the minions of hell for revenge.

Once in Mohrville, he runs into Cindy, an old high school friend and the one he loved from the safety of his dreams. Afraid to get too close because he knew he would never let her go. And that put her in danger.

However, this time around she takes the lead and forces his hand. James must make a choice- but would her love tie him down or free him like never before?

-- Yeah, I'm not a planner.... not sarcastic either. :)

Hello all! Hoping this posts, cause I keep getting an error message for the last week, so I cancelled my account and opened it up again with a new name! My name is Amanda, but my friends have called me Funky since highschool (I HAVE to ask them where that came from!) This will be my 4th year doing NaNo, hopefully this will be my first win! Yeah, sad I know, 4 years and no win. but I am determined this year!

This years idea is about two sister, twins actually. Neither knew the other exsisted, and when one sister is murdered, the other sees the murder in her dreams. Thinking that it is her own future she freaks, and hires a P.I to hunt down the place and man in her dreams. What she finds is her sisters killer, who is out for blood. Thats all ive got so far, but I am hoping I can push that to at least 10k

Hey, I'm Chelsea, I'm from SCS. I'm acutally a senior in high school, but I figured I might as well say hi cause this is all for a common cause. :D I'm currently venturing all around Michigan looking at schools, well, I've been accepted to Central already but I'm still checking out another. So far senior year has been pretty fun, busy already and November will be awful with musical tryouts and going back up to Central. Blah.

Anyways, I've done nano since 2006. My first two I failed but won last year and I successfully completed my novel in June. Right now I have a few copies out to family, friends and teacher then I'm re-editing it with the notes they made on it. I'm doing a sequel to the novel this year. I really have no idea what to classify my novel, I guess mainstream if you will, like horror/mystery/fiction/Young Adult-ish, if I cut out some of the swearing. Oops. Well, I'd better stop the teenage girl stereotype and stop talking now. :)

Hey everyone!
My name is Tierra and I live in Dearborn Michigan.
I turned 16 today, and I'm going to officially participate in Nano this year.
thegothicpixie is one of my best friends and I've managed to get her roped into this whole nano business.
I'd love writing buddies. any age, gender, race, planet is welcome.

My genre is most likely, Chick Lit/Romance/General.

My novel is called Of Sneakers and High Heels. The plot is really simple. Two girls happen to meet on a train and later ends up sharing an apartment complex. One is a complete girly girl and the other is a complete tomboy. These two have to deal with all the problems in the world but when they come home, they have each other to get them through it Thats a vague, vague, synopsis.

Hey peoples!

I'm James, from Madison Heights. Work at the U-Haul there.

I am doing a fantasy novel. The basic setting is current times, and in a Detroit suburb. Probably going to be Hazel Park, not sure yet.

Essentially, in the Middle Ages, dragons learned how to shape-shift in order to keep from being hunted to extinction. And they figured the best way to hide from the hunters was to hide among them.

So, here we are, hundreds of years later, and they've been living in the world pretty good. But, recently, a presence has been affecting some dragons, making them reveal themselves and cause lots of damage. Haven't got the plot fully formed yet, but I'll have it ready in time.

...Have you ever heard of a manga (Japanese novel-length comics, if you don't know) called NANA by Ai Yazawa?

You just gave an almost exact synopsis of it. ^^; I'm sure it's not intentional, but I automatically thought of that series when I read your post. Maybe you should check it out? :3

Hi, I'm "Persephone" (pen name) and sometimes I deal with death, and sometimes I deal with taxes.

I'm a first-time NaNoer and hang my scythe in Beverly Hills (Michigan).

I'm sketching out a hard boiled PI mystery set in Metro Detroit and Northern Michigan that will involve, guess what, some death and some taxes! Yee ha!

Halloween is my favorite holiday so I'm planning on writing in costume some days. Why not?

Aloha, I'm Cerah from Lincoln Park. I'm currently attending school at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. This is my second attempt at NNWM, last year I just failed miserably. However, I am newly motivated this year and excited to start up again. Not sure where my novel is going to go this time...last year I had all sorts of things planned out and it got frustrating trying to work it out, so this year I'm winging it. I've got a few ideas but I haven't settled on anything yet.

Hey all! My name is Toni. I'm a graduate student at Oakland University but I live in Shelby Township. II work with my husband (Rashiko) at Jimmy John's in Auburn Hills. My husband and I are doing this together again! He started and won last year and I've been participating and winning since 2007. We're going to be on OU's campus from 2pm until 11:30pm most days so we won't be able to go to any write-ins this year unless they're in the Honor's College (where we work Monday, Wednesday and Thursday nights) or in the OC (where we are on Friday nights).

I have no idea what I'm going to write about this year. I'll probably stick with the animal stories I've been writing for two years. The first year was dragons and last year was killer whales. I'm not sure what animal I'm going to pick this year.

Anyway, I hope to be able to participate in something this year. If not then at least my husband and I will have each other to cheer each other on!

Greetings and Salutations!

I am Tracy and I will be your.. wait. wrong setting.

I am very excited to be back for my third year of craziness. I won in 2007, didn't even get close in 2008, and am getting ready to mad dash it in 2009. I'm from Harrison Township and LOVE seeing a few more from the area.

My NaNo is yet to be defined. I have a few rough ideas floating around. Some are under my traditional favorite fantasy genre, and some are under general lit/fiction amusement. Who knows what I will pin down in the next three-ish weeks.

Last year me and another set-up a Macomb County Write-In. Will probably do that again if there is interest.

Happy Planning Month!

Hey everybody,

I did my first NaNoWriMo back in '07. Last year, I was working and going to school full time. But this year I'm back! And this year I'll hopefully win.

I'm going with a ghost story/urban fantasy set here in Detroit. Emily goes to her boyfriend's old family home for a Halloween party. Before the night is over, her boyfriend disappears. Emily sets out to find him, and falls further and further into a dark and secret world. Emily and her friend will traverse the city to well-known spots that I'll be giving an occult/fantasy spin. The closer she gets to finding her boyfriend, the deeper she gets into this occult/fantasy world. That's all I have at the moment. I like finding the story as I write :-)

Some of it will be scary (hopefully), but it's mostly urban fantasy.

The closer she gets to finding her boyfriend, the deeper she gets into this occult/fantasy world. That's all I have at the moment. I like finding the story as I write :-)

Some of it will be scary (hopefully), but it's mostly urban fantasy.

I'm going to write about a world-wide calamity based on major earthquake activity. I'm thinking about writing it in an old fashioned "serials" format, and tie in each character based on where they are in the world as events unfold. This is my first shot at writing under this 50,000 words in a month format but I have a good feeling that this is going to be the beginning of a new career for me. I can see that my biggest problem will be turning off the inner critic. I may need help in getting that monkey off my back. He always freezes my writing with a million what-if's and what about this? That dudes has got to go if I'm going to write almost 1700 words a day. All help in turning him off and keeping him off will be appreciated. Looking forward to hearing from my fellow Detroiters.
