So I really doubt this thread will get nearly as many replies as the drinking thread, but I thought I'd post anyway! :D

For those who don't drink... let's share the drinks that keep us going through November. Does anyone have anything interesting? There's the coffees and teas to be sure, but what about those other drinks out there?

My favourite is a drink I can only get in England called J20 - orange & passionfruit. YUM! But whilst I'm here in Australia I settle for pashiona with lots of ice and a mix of lime :) Simply beautiful and keeps me writing through those hot days.

What about everyone else? Let's see if we can get a little 'cook book' going :D

Hi! I don't drink.
I like pepsi max, water, hot chocolate (quik mainly), and old english breakfast tea.

I don't really drink... I can, but don't.

Dr. Pepper is the ambrosia I use to help me NaNo. Hot Chocolate and Apple Cider are also good drinks, especially when the temps drop, or you're in the midst of a winter scene.

Not a drinker either. Fruit juice is what keeps me going - either orange or mandarin. I'm also partial to chocolate milk when I can be bothered picking up a bottle of it while I'm out at the shops.

Diet Pepsi. Cans and cans and cans of it. As for interesting...well...this could gross some people out, but I drink my own blood. It's remarkably invigorating, human blood, not to mention rich and tasty. When I need a little extra pick-me-upper, I peel a scab and lick up a dribble or two. Yup. I'm a sicko.

Another good drink is raspberry Fruit 2O mixed with lemon Fruit 2O. Or raspberry fruit2O mixed with Diet Pepsi. It's like raspberry Pepsi from a soda fountain, without the calories.

I go for herbal teas a lot during NaNo. This year will probably also feature hot blackcurrant and hot chocolate on a large scale.

If it decides to get warm enough to make me think it's Summer I'll fill up my water bottle as well as drinking (not hot) blackcurrant or some form of juice. Maybe a feijoa smoothie or three. Those are delicious.

Let's see: Coffee is my mainstay, really. Preferably of the mocha variety.

If I can't get my hands on coffee, rootbeer will do, or maybe cold green tea.

Me neither.

I tend to drink mostly water, but I do have a soft spot for Cherry Coke.

I'm also excited because I really enjoy hot chocolate in coffee shops (don't drink coffee either) but it's way overpriced, and last month at Bed, Bath, and Beyond they had this hot chocolate maker on clearance. Last one in the store, an additional 50% off all clearance, and since it was a display model, an additional 10% off. It's a microwaveable pot and comes with a little milk frother that fits in the top, so I can't wait to try me some good hot chocolate. Looks more or less like this. It was $4 for me. :)

So yes, some hot chocolate is sure to be on the list once it gets chilly.

LIve with an alcoholic, so I don't drink, either. I like lemon-lime sodas, like Sprite, 7-UP, or Sierra Mist, though my favorite beverage-like substance right now is a strawberry banana mango smoothie. I also won't say no to a good Chai.

Well one beer and I'm good for the next month without drinking... I think I can say I don't drink much

I consume mostly coffee and hot chocolate (and tons of sugary goods that I shouldn't eat as much as I do XD). Sometimes I mix them to make kind of a mochaccino, but that's pretty basic.

I don't 'get' drinking...

My main staple is water - I've always got a big cup or a bottle of it on hand - but if I get sick of it, I'll get out the chocolate milk (with summer coming, this is great blended with ice-cream and ice) or if I can convince someone to buy it, Vanilla Coke or Creaming Soda. I really love Cranberry juice, too.

I usually make my own drinks. They tend to be variations of hot and cold chocolate drinks, like chocolate toti, white chocolate drink, true c, layer cocoa, cinnamon cocoa, marshmallow cocoa mix, chocolate zabaglione, coffee cocoa, hot chili choco drink, hot chocolate with ice cream, hot chocolate with whipped cream... :DD If anyone's interested, I can share recipes (such goodies must be tried!)

When I'm lazy, I drink tea (I have a selection of 30+ different tea types :D).

Green tea always helps (somewhat) to get the day going :)
Well, water and orange juice can always help and I'm thinking of trying hot chocolate during Nano... it will be cold enough for that, that's for sure xD

I don't drink alcohol, so I resort to coffee - plain black when I'm really tired, and very strong, or with sugar and milk when I'm just on the edge of falling asleep. I generally hoard boxes of oranges so I can make fresh orange juice too, which is great. That or home-made lemon cordial. Dangerously addictive.

For caffeinated drinks: coffee or earl grey tea are my choices. for non-caffeinated, I use various squashes for drinks. Lemon and pinapple squash tastes good.

I love J2Os, but only the yellow and green ones. They're a bit too sugarry and expensive to keep drinking for a whole month though. I'll mostly be drinking coke while I'm writing at lunchtimes, maybe sometimes orange juice or ribena but they are more expensive in the canteen at work. At home I'll mostly be drinking robinsons apple & blackcurrant, which is my usual drink of choice.

I've never really "got" drinking alcohol either. For a start I think it tastes foul.

I don't drink anything alcoholic... not sure why really... I guess I'm just a control freak and hate the thought of my brain being beyond the boundaries of reason!

I drink LOTS of tea. I have special maple tea from Canada that I will be drinking during NaNo, and occasionally, for extra kick, I like to add curry powder to ordinary tea. :D ...Ok, I only did that once, and it's never happening again.

DuraKaN, you took the words right out of my brain. I'm so glad I found this thread - you guys are all awesome. I'm a college student who doesn't plan to drink alcohol - ever - and most people don't get that.

As for what I do drink while I'm writing, water's good. I also have hot chocolate, and lemonade mix. If I'm feeling really indulgent, I'll get my very favorite drink: fruit smoothies. Odwalla's "Strawberry C Monster" is delicious, but expensive.

I don't drink coffee, or alcohol, as both give me projectile diarrhoea. ( sorry for the mental image)

I am addicted to all kinds of fruit juice. Apple, orange, grape, mango, multi fruit, banana-berry, berry-grape,apple-berry-pear,...
I also like to drink accidental ice tea. ( where you forgot that you made tea, and its sits in the cup until its cold)

I only drink water (except the rare smoothie or milkshake) so that will be what keeps me going. That and chocolate. :D

I don't drink for quite a few reasons (which I won't bore you all with) but the main one is that I don't like how it tastes.

I suppose I should also have mentioned I don't like tea or coffee either. Don't know why. It's not the caffeine because I drink coke and it's not the hotness as I drink hot chocolate. Actually I don't have chocolate as much any mire, but I dis last winter before it got too warm. And now the canteen at work has switched to a make your own drink model and the chocolate is now just powder and water. But if they went back to the old milky model I'd go back to it. Also I don't like milk on it's own. Especially hit milk which is really mank and just the smell makes me want to retch.

I'm not a big drinker either. It's more because alcohol is expensive and you have to mix it up with other things to make it taste good. There's just not time to do that in November. Also, alcohol's expensive.

In November I'm a hot chocolate or tea person. No coffee unless it doesn't really taste like coffee. Water is also good because hydration is always good.

Not a drinker - I charge up on Smoothies from Jamba Juice most days, and Starbucks hot chocolate on others. I also recently discovered that I LOVE the SoBe beverages - the water and the juices.

I really enjoy making fruit smoothies. Like, a *lot*. I'll buy frozen fruit from the store and blend it up with some ice and juice or milk. Strawberries, oranges, peaches, mangoes, plums - lots of good, aromatic fruits really go a long way toward deliciousness. I've never had an apple in my smoothie that tasted good while it was there, sorry to say.

Occasionally I'll try to recreate an Orange Julius recipe - usually the traditional. I've had great success with 1 can frozen OJ, then 1 can of water, 1 can of milk or half-and-half (depending on how you want to roll), a bit of Vanilla flavoring, and then powdered sugar to taste (it adds a fluffy-lightness to things). Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. In my opinion, it's even better than the Orange Julius, because there's a lot more flavor there.

I also love putting grenadine in anything. Sometimes I'll put it in a smoothie, but I find that cuts into the natural, delicious flavors of the fruit. So I usually end up putting grenadine in juice - orange, apple, cranberry. Lemonade/Limeade. (I also adore Arnold Palmers, while we're on the subject of lemonade. <3) Sometimes I'll put grenadine in my soda, if I have it around, otherwise I'll just take the soda straight. My pop selections are usually 7-UP, Vault, or Mellow Yellow. I don't really drink colas anymore.

I enjoy my caffeine, so very occasionally I'll take an "energy drink". The name of my favorite energy drink is a bit silly, but I do enjoy a Bawls every now and again. I'll also sometimes down a Monster or a Rockstar, but only if I plan on being up for a while.

There was one day in my life when I was about 14 where I had way too much caffeine. I thought I was going to die. x.x I prefer not to relive that, so I take it easy on the energy drinks, but they're still fun sometimes. Oh, and I really like the SoBe drinks as well. Really good stuff there.

I'm not a huge fan of tea, but I like it iced. I like peppermint tea. Sometimes straight black. Always with honey and lemon. Never green tea. Never earl grey . Ugh. Yuck. My wife loves the stuff - I can't stand it.

I do, however, love coffee. I'll often make a strong coffee brew and mix it with instant cocoa mix for a mocha, since I don't yet have an espresso machine. I also keep about four different flavored syrups in my fridge for those occasions when "straight black" just doesn't cut it. Occasionally I'll hit up Starbucks for a caramel macchiato or some other delicious drink. Otherwise I brew it at home.

A good tip for great coffee is to make it with half the water in the reservoir and half in the pot. It brews a little strong, but it picks up more of the coffee's natural flavors and oils, and then the water in the pot will dilute the strength down to where it doesn't taste like it will take the paint off your walls. Kind of like an Americano, only without the espresso.

....I really need that espresso machine.

(Disclaimer: I do drink alcohol on occasion, but I am a fan of all kinds of beverages. I hope that doesn't exclude me outright from this thread. ;) )

While I do drink, I don't do it during Nano. What keeps me going in the long November nights is cheap restaurant coffee or, at home, Lapsang Souchang tea. It's like drinking a barbecue, which sounds like it should be awful but is amazing. Glad to see some fellow tea snobs--er connoisseurs!

I seldom drink alcohol, and I definitely won't drink during NaNo because it makes me tired and listless.

I do drink litres and litres of coca-cola, but only the real stuff. Not that Light or Vanilla crap. Also, my mum's soup and mint tea with a lot of sugar.

I'll be turning 21 on the cusp of WriMo, but I don't think that will change my I-don't-drink opinion.

Seeing as I hate tea, coffee and alcohol (the trio of usual writerly addictions), I've developed some.. stranger.. habits. For starters, I love a good beef broth in the morning. I'm perfectly content with using the spices from a packet of Ramen in hot water. This year, since I have my own kitchen now, I think I'm going to try to make a huge vat of the soup they serve at Japanese hibachi restaurants -- not the miso, the house soup (supposedly it's different everywhere, but it tastes remarkably similar in all of the restaurants around here).

I'm also not-so-secretly addicted to the peach-mango Fuze, though it's rather expensive for my budget. When I'm too money-conscious to get that, I usually settle for a peach-apple-white-grape based juice of some sort. Kills my stomach (I have fruit problems, apparently), but it tastes so delicious.

When I need caffeine, I pick up a couple of low-carb Monsters - those give me a nice little jolt, which is more than I can say for most other energy drinks. I also like Vitamin Water and v8 Fusion Light, and will drink hot chocolate or key lime rooibos tea when it's cold out. Unspiked egg nog is also a winner, but only if it's real egg. That soy nog stuff is horrible.
