Hey, where are you guys? Here I am, transplanted in coastal CA for the second year, but ready to write with my Kootenay favorites again, and nobody has signed up yet! Come on, all, let's get off our duffs and get ready to write!

Who else is out there? Who's going to be ready to write like mad, to share on the annual post-NaNo cruise?

I'm here, well, not really, I'm still in Penticton, and about to move to Vancouver (Where I'm sure there's a whole lotta NaNo's). But here in Penticton, much like last year, I'm sure there's only me and a couple others (Lurkers, to be sure), so I'll be writing with ya'll, again. :o)

Hey, Patrick, good to see you here again! Boy, you certainly are on the move these days -- Penticton last year, Vancouver this year! I'm still in California for at least another year, though I took a summer trip back to the lake to reacquaint myself with house, neighbors, and the whole Kootenay experience.

I sent a note to Viv via her website. I hope she's able to join us again this year. She's publishing like mad these days, with tons of books on the go -- a real NaNo-ite success story!

Looks like you and I will have to join writing weekends via the Internet again this year. Here's to a great November!

I'm usually in Sweden, but this year I'm an exchange student in Castlegar, hoping I'll have time to do NaNo this year :D

Well, usually there's a good handful of people....don't know if it's early yet, or what, but....hopefully the group fills out again.

Hello people. I didn't think I would have time to compete this year, but since I received a lay-off notice yesterday, I will have the time!
I'm pretty much alone down here in the South Okanagan, and being a former Kootenay resident, this is where I hung out last year. I will put up some posters around here , to see if I can drum up some local interest.

motrhead, welcome back! I'm still in California, but hanging out here, as well, as this is where I started three NaNos ago when I lived at the lake, and this group feels more like home.

I think we're going to have to have virtual write-ins, as we're spread out so far, but we can make them fun! November, here we come!

Too funny, out of the four Kootenay people, one is in California and two are in the Okanagan. Hilarious. That's going to make write-in's difficult. :P

I'm still in Penticton, not moving to Van for a few months, so if you wanna meet at a coffee shop/library, or something, to write, let me know.

Tee hee! You remember that? You know last year they let us come up and see the 'main bridge' of the ferry like they said they would the first year. It was cool!

I'm sorry I missed that! In all the time I've gone back and forth on that ferry, I've never been on the bridge.

I'll be back and writing from my home base in the Kootenays in a couple of years, and won't have to join you all virtually!

I'm here!!!

And totally convinced I'm insane (and you all shake your heads and wonder why it took so long for me to notice)

My ***not sure if I should hide or swing from the chandeliers*** fifth story releases this coming Tuesday, just in time for me to say "What the hell happened two years ago and can I have another shot of that stuff? Damn, it's goooood."

I'll be attempting the 50K. Notice, NOT attempting a double this year. I can see edits coming on two stories and a set of galleys for my ***squeal** print book, which I have never done before, so the learning curve will be kicking into writing time. But it's ALL wonderful and I'm looking forward to coffee and virtual cookies on Sundays with those people who can't make it...

Woot, woot! Welcome back, Viv! I'm so happy you're going to be rejoining us this year!

As far as swinging from the chandeliers is concerned -- you go for it, girl! You deserve a really good swing! Looking forward to the Tuesday release, AND the upcoming print release.

Perhaps you can -- between heading for 50,000 -- send the rest of us an occasional encouraging buddy e-mail. You've proved it's possible (and worked d***ed hard at it, too)!

Hi everyone! I watched my friend have a near breakdown last year so I thought I would join in the fun this year!

I'm a "NaNo Virgin" and really looking forward to the challenge (also looking forward to the cruise I've heard so much about). I have a project that I'm very excited about.

Wow, great to see some of the old group forming and some new people joining, as well. I need a shot of whatever you had that couple years ago, Viv. Great job, can't believe you want more punishment :P

I'll be out here in Penticton, and maybe in Vancouver for a write in or two, so I'll be missing the old coffee shop in Castlegar/Nelson/Trail/Salmo, where ever you guys end up meeting.

Welcome, Darcie!

Hang onto the goal of the cruise at the end -- it's well worth the hellish writing days mid-November, just to keep writing!

Darcie,

I can deffinitely attest to it being worth it. Now if only I remembered WHO made those yummy squares that were so good she said she locked the recipe away except for really important events and holidays..... ;)

Oh, and my Nano idea.... I'm bursting with it. my sis helped me figure it out.

I'm new too!
Also new to Nelson, just moved in a few months ago.
I've been meaning to write this book for literally years - I did the research for it about ten years ago and have been talking about it and boring everyone with my ideas. Now it't time to poop or get off the pot, as they say.
Any more Nelsonites out there?

I talk to myself like that all the time. ;)

Hey stephen. I'm in Nelson. I'm a now published author who got my kickstart at nano two years ago. It's an awesome event, and a great way to stop talking and start writing.

Looking forward to meeting you!

So... I'm thinking we should throw down the gauntlet to another area in Elsewhere, and challenge them to meet or beat our wordcount for this sunday's get-together. It would encourage more people to come out of the woodwork and join in IRL or virtually for write-ins, but also a little friendly rivalry between us and say... Vernon? Or somewhere else that has some good active Nanoers participating would be pretty cool.

Thoughts? Comments? Packages of raw beef?

Warn them they will get their butts kicked.

Just saying.

I'm planning on a big word count weekend...;)

I am planning on a big word count weekend, too. I have to catch a plane at 6 Sunday morning, so I have to leave home at 4:30 a.m. to be there on time. No sense going to sleep, when NaNo has just started, so I'm going to write from midnight until it's time to head to the airport. On planes all day long, so there's more writing time! (I'll be joining the Sunday write-in virtually. If I'm flying, I won't be able to reach out by e-mail or IM, but know I'm writing right along with you, looking forward to posting a spectacular first-day word count.)

So I say, Throw down the gauntlet! We can kick anybody's butts!

Mmmm! Squares! I might have to figure out a way to finagle (shhh! did I say that?) a business trip back to the lake for the post-NaNo cruise....

Well I thought I would have lots of time for writing, with my job purportedly ending a couple weeks ago, but I am still working steady until the end of November. That will NOT stop me! My younger daughter is definitely participating, so we will be cheering each other on. I will try to get her on to this forum. The shock of my sudden layoff, and the whirlwind of activity since then, have left me a bit shell-shocked and kept NaNoWriMo on the back burner, but I have a good plot idea and I AM ready to write! This is pretty exciting!

Hey everyone! Hope you're all happily typing away on this beautiful, crispy November morning!

Brad asked me to hop on and let you know that he's experiencing some technical difficulties on the NaNo site (i.e. he forgot his password). He's waiting for the email from the NaNo Gods with his password re-set information and should be up and running with his word count soon.

Ta for now! Happy Day Three!

Hey Vivian,
I'm wondering if there are any nano events in Nelson (haven't yet figured out how to navigate the website to find them). I'm moving into town on the 8th and as a nano first timer, I'd like to hook up with others for moral support.

Cheers and good luck!

No writing today, and only a thousand words yesterday . I should be past 10,00 by now. I seem to have a *really* nasty cold or the flu. I just turned the computer on for internet radio, and now it's straight back to bed.
I'll have to catch up tomorrow or the next day. This sucks.
