Check in here!

I'm in Ellicott City, and enjoyed the write-ins at Borders in Columbia last year. I write YA and MG.

Checking in! I recently moved to the Howard County part of Laurel, so I'm even closer for the write-ins than I was last year. This will be my fifth year at Nano, and hopefully my third win. Maryland seems to have a positive effect on my writing work ethic. My novel this year is a first for me...I'm contuing the adventures of the character from my last novel. She just had more to say, I guess! (Maybe I'll get incredibly lucky and turn it into a trilogy.)

Last year I was at the Border's write-ins in Columbia, and the Starbucks write-ins in Glen Burnie. This year I have put some serious thought into hosting some at the Panera Bread in Laurel. Tuesdays would be good. Would anybody be up for that?

Welcome to everyone new to the area, and hello to everyone I saw last year! We're going to have so much fun this year!

Leah,

I live in Laurel and may be able to make a Tuesday night write-in, but it would have to be after 7. Are you thinking of the Panera Bread at the Parkway and 197?

Obviously I'm here too!

I'll continue my write-ins on Thursday (they are already on the calendar, 7-10pm). I think a Tuesday one for Laurel sounds great. If that gets set up, post to the Write-In "sticky" thread so it gets added to the calendar.

Hope you are all doing well,

Lee

I miss Maryland! *sob* The Indiana forum is way too quiet. Anyway good luck everyone!!! I plan to pop back in this forum occasionally and will work the Maryland Dare into my novel because after 3 years of it, it's a hard habit to quit.

Yes! The Panera Bread at the Corridor Marketplace between 198 and 295. I'm just waiting on the okay from the manager. It will probably be from 6 to 9, since that's when they close, but anyone would be welcome to come whenever and leave whenever they need to.

Cross your fingers for me that he says yes!

Me, though I likely won't come to any write-ins (but still, power to the HoCo writers, yay.)

Coolchan, I'm sure you'll do great! :)

I'm right down from you in Highland. :) Considering doing a write in there at the cafe I just discovered the other day.

Oh goody! I thought they were going to be Wednesdays. Thursdays I can do. Probably not all of them and probably not till 10, but I should be able to make at least one or two this year.

I was also a big fan of the Borders write-ins, mostly because they were the only thing keeping me on track. Won my first NaNo last year, hope to do it again this year.

I'm in Elkridge, so I might try attending the Laurel meets, too.

Checking in, I live in Elkridge. Excited for my first year of NaNo. I mostly write short stories but I have attempted to write a novel, it turned out interesting.

I can do Tuesday night write-ins in Laurel! I'm moving very close to that Panera (in about a week! Oh, the packing!). I probably won't arrive until around 7:00, though. I look forward to meeting a new group of writers!

Yay for write-ins at Borders and the Panera in Laurel, as I also live in the Howard County part of Laurel. I didn't attend any write-ins last year, but I plan to this year. Looking forward to meeting you all!

I wrote an introduction in the welcome and introductions thread, but I thought I'd post here too since Howard County is where I'll be.

I represent the Calgary Wrimotaurs (from Alberta, Canada), but I'll be in Maryland for two weeks during NaNoWriMo so I thought I'd get acquainted with all of you :) I'm going to try and make it to one or two of the write-ins at Borders in Columbia while I'm there (and I'll be dragging my boyfriend along). I'll probably be able to make it to the one on the 5th, and quite possibly again on the 12th.

Not much else to say I guess :) I'm 24, write primarily sci-fi/fantasy, though I write poetry and do photography as well. This will be my 4th NaNo, and last year was my first win.

I'm looking forward to making some friends in Maryland!

Anyone from my beloved High School or current college?

Columbia checking in. I just signed up today. I won NANOWRIMO in 2004 and haven't been able to win it again since. But this year, I'm gonna win it. I know I am.

I likely won't be going to any write ins (too distracting an atmosphere to write) but thought I should check in anyway. Good luck everyone!

Hey all! Popping in to say hi just ahead of the kickoff -- I'm in the Columbia area, and hope to make some of the Laurel and Columbia Borders writeins. From the ideas I've jotted down, I'll hopefully end up with a novel that's mainstream fiction. Looking forward to the madness! :)

Amanda, my daughter goes to HCC, but I haven't been able to pull her onto the NaNo bandwagon yet.

Anybody up for afternoon write-ins? Borders, B&N, Panera in the mall?

Wow - great to see the turnout here!

Rei - We'd love to have out-of-town Wrimos join us! In fact, we've had visitors from other places, even for our Kick-Offs.

I'll probably be writing in the afternoons on Tues, Weds, and Thurs while the kidlets are all in school. If I can manage getting out, I'd join people somewhere (maybe in the 12-2ish time frame).

I officially host one write-in but I pop in at others when possible. In other words, when my wonderful husband can handle taking care of the kids while I Run Away LOL!

excellent, the Thursday write-ins are until 10? I'll head over there after my nighttime class (I get out around 9). It's late but I'm sure a dose of caffeine will perk up the writer-brain.

Kat here from Columbia; I've been noveling since '02 and I'm really excited to start again this year.

I plan to go to Panera at the Columbia for the first write-in on Monday. I haven't done one of these before. Is the purpose of the write-in to actually write or to toss ideas around or both? Do people bring laptops or paper?

Mary -

The write-ins are for writing, but if you need someone to toss ideas around with I'll be there! (Or we can talk before then if you want to.) Bring your laptop! (Some people do bring paper and then transcribe later.)

Tracy,

The write-ins I host are 7-10pm on Thursdays at Borders in Columbia, so you could do that! There will be afternoon ones at Panera in the mall on Monday and Wednesday.

Check the calendar - more are being added every day!
