Is there anyone in the Norman area who would like to get together? I tend to haunt the Barnes and Noble on Ed Noble Parkway. This is my first year doing nano and I would love to make some new writing buddies. :D

Marci,
I live in Norman, one of my favorite haunts is B&N, and I would love to have get togethers and so forth there. I have attempted this several times, but family comes first and i have never been able to finish. This year I really want to do it.

Well, I have pretty good availability. I am available to meet Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday...lol...I work all weekend, so I can't meet then. I'm more of an afternoon or night person, so I usually wander into B&N around 1 or 2pm, but any time would work for me.

How near is that to OU? I'm a freshman there this year. (I'm not a freshman to NaNo though--this will be my third year!)

It isn't that far from OU. I would say it's maybe five miles from campus. You take Lindsey St. to Ed Noble Parkway. It's next to Toys R Us.

Presently I work nights, 10 nights on, 4 nights off. My next night off is next Thursday, and Thursday afternoon or night is great for me.

Would anyone be up to getting together Monday, October 19th at Barnes and Noble? I can meet later in the week too if that works better...and the time really doesn't matter to me.

This particular Monday, 19th, is ok, if it's in the morning. I have to sleep in the afternoon and evening to work the night shift.

Thanks!

Did y'all know you have a Norman ML - navg8r? He's listed under the Oklahoma City Region and I'm sure he'd love to hear from all y'all. He's got the official NaNoWriMo swag to give out, too.

Thanks for the intro, Sena. I've had to update everything, and saved the intro until I got off work tonight.

Hallo, Norman NaNos!

I'm glad to see people coming in and planning meet-ups, and I'll be at Barnes and Noble at 10am, too. (Monday, 19th)

My name is Ilya, and I'm co-ML for the OKC Metro area, sharing duties with KamikazeCricket. She will ML the Northern part of the Metro, and me the Southern. We don't have enough writers (yet) for Norman to have its own region, but the Powers That Be allowed a co-ML for the Metro so we can get better coverage. I live and work in Norman, so much of what I'm planning will be Norman-based.

Even though Norman isn't part of OKC, I would highly recommend that each Norman writer (and anyone from the general area, such as Moore, Noble, Littleaxe, Lexington, Purcell, Newcastle, the general countryside, etc), go into your profile and add OKC as one of your regions. You can have more than one. If you add OKC as a region, you will have access to our meet-up and event calendar, and be able to receive e-mails from your MLs. These will be informational, with the odd writing 'pep talk'.

I will have the Monday meet-up added to the OKC calendar, and will be planning more this weekend. I work Wed through Sat (a 'compressed' week), so much of my ML duties will be handled on my days off. With that in mind, watch this space, and enjoy your plotting and planning, as we have just two weeks and 4 1/2 hours to go!

Cheers,
Ilya (ILYA, to translate this horrible font which makes me look like LLYA) :-)

Today at the meeting, we talked about this link someone gave me. You enter the date and it provides all kinds of facts like major news events and popular songs. Here it is: http://dmarie.com/timecap/step1.asp

Thanks, Marci. That will be such a help (not to mention a year-round time waster, lol!)

Very useful!

Cheers, Ilya
