Lapetus suggested we get an introductions thread going, so I'll go ahead and start.

Name: Tamas McCoy
Age: 24
Location: Tukwila
Years done NaNo: This will be my second year and my second victory!
Novel Info: I have a very basic idea of what it's going to be, but it's going to be a dungeon punk sci-fi/fantasy. I know some of the major plot elements but I still need to work out characters and a title.
Other goals: I hope to finish early so I can use the rest of the November write-in time to get started on the second draft of my last novel, Chains of ares.

Years done NaNo: This will be my second year and most likely my second failed attempt, as my job normally ramps up around November.
Novel info: Highish fantasy with a scientific bent. No elves. Female lead who will under no circumstances have any romantic thoughts throughout the book because this will not be that kind of fantasy novel thank-you-very-much.
Other goals: Get closer than I got last year!

Years done NaNo: This will be my second year and my first victory!
Novel Info: I have absolutely no idea, no plan, this was my problem last year this year I am sticking to my guns, I am going to win, but as far as anything past a theme and a possible title that I seem to hover around I really have nothing.
Other goals: Last year I wasn't as involved in the Nano community as I would have liked. I want to fix that this time around. I would really like to actually win this year....

Hi, all!

Name: Michael Knowles
Age: 35
Location: Capitol Hill

This is my first attempt - I wanted to try last year but parts of my life started falling apart in September so I bailed before I even began. This year I have a much more solid support structure around me and have had more time to rework my plot ideas in the meantime - a sort of suspense/supernatural drama.

Years Done Nano: This is my first attempt. One of my son's will be attempting the young writer's Nano along with me.

Novel Info: I have another project I need to complete down to a complete rough draft, polished first chapter, and synopsis by Nov. 2. At present, I have only a couple characters and a rough idea for that... I am saving any and all plot bunnies that appear in the process of that project for NaNoWriMo. But mostly, I plan to just start writing on Nov 1 and see where it goes.

Years done NaNo: Technically my second, though I ended up stopping last year.
Novel Info: I have ideas...and I have other ideas...we'll see which idea comes to fruition...and knowing me, I'll get even more ideas before this month is up and NaNo starts. So, in the end, it will be a surprise even to me.
Other goals: Schedule my time well (first year of college...hoo boy) and allow for personal time in order to get this done. Get something of a novel out! Woo!

Age: 25

Years done Nano: This is my first! I'm super excited and hoping for a win.
Novel Info: I've been thinking about this for a few months now and my novel will be about a teen who is diagnosed with cancer. I was a year and a half ago, and I've been trying to figure out how to write my memoirs, but can't, there's some kind of block. The solution: fictionalize it! This seems the way to go and I have loads of ideas and characters floating around my brain.
Other goals: to finally be at peace with surviving Non-Hodgekins Lymphoma so early in life. I believe writing this novel will settle my mind, as writing usually does.

Years done NaNo: This would be year #4. Last year was my first completed 50k work. Note I did not say "novel" or "winner" or anything like that because last year I was a NaNoRebel.
Novel Info: I'm back on the fiction-line and I'm thinking it has something to do with Death. As in a large corporation of people who help other people cross over to the other side and a handful of employees getting jaded and deciding that they don't really like humankind and they become vicious Death-types, much to the chagrin of the non-vicious Death-types who rally to fight them and it becomes this epic battle of angry employees fighting over the way people cross over. It sounds morbid but in my head it totally isn't that bad. (I could also come up with something completely different by November 1st so I'm not married to this plot.)
Other goals: Go to a write-in and avoid the giant sea turtles (which show up on stories of mine where I run out of energy and steam and just need something to write). Oh, and maybe get a vacation in...that'd be nice.

Years done Nano: This is my first. I'm...weary, but I hope this will be the kick in the pants I need.
Novel Info: The marketing pitch--teenage zombies with powers! A YA novel (first in a potential series) that explores a near future where no one dies, society and government is turned on its head two young teens uncover a sinister conspiracy that could spell disaster for the already messed up world they live in. These two unlikely heroes will face difficult choices, but the toughest of all is where they stand in the fight for right to life after death. Is death worth living for?
Other goals: Beyond getting it done...nope!

Novel Info: A prequel to another story I have been working on for years. The main story is about one man's plan to avenge his love, so this novel will be about what happened that led him to that situation. Sci-fi/fantasy setting, uses a lot of imagery from Irish mythology and traditional Catholicism, mostly just in names and stuff.

Novel Info: Jake has spent his life trying to live up to the status quo, but after his wife leaves him he moves in with his gay brother. Through the eclectic people who share his brother’s house Jake experiences what love, friendship, and living life should be through new relationships.
Other goals: Oh well, to finish again. To meet new people. To have fun.

Years Done Nano: Last year. Kinda. Sorta. Only made it to 13k.

Novel Info: About a soldier's struggle with returning home from his deployment. I'm going to be fleshing out characters and plot here pretty soon.

Goals: To make it to 50k without imploding like I did last year. To survive work (and praying for no overnight shiftsdays before Thanksgiving). To survive Thanksgiving. To get my pup through his class with flying colors.

Whee!

Novel info: A modern day monarchy that does not have a normal royal family. With plenty of secrets in the closet, it's no surprise when some of them come out.

Goal: I really want to finish early, and finish with over 100k. Oh, and figure out a proper title for my story. I really don't like the current one I have.

Years done NaNo: Won in '08, aiming to win again!
Novel Info: I just had another idea today, so currently the foremost plot bunny is a rather open-ended science-fiction/adventure idea.... We'll shall see!

Years done NaNo: This will be my third year. I finished both previous years, early.
Novel Info: A group of friends reunite after 20ish years, and the death of someone 21 years earlier is discovered to have been a murder. The MC will likely be an unintentional, unlikely detective, as it was her best friend who died. There might be another murder, too, once it starts becoming apparent the original death was a murder.
Other goals: Write 70-75k words this year.

2007: Sleeping Around (salacious title for a non-salacious book...really, I need to rename it) (50k)
2008: Untitled (currently at ~70k)

Years done NaNo: Technically this is the 4th year since I registered, but in '06 I bailed before I began and in '07 I got half a chapter in. Won in '08, won doing a JulNoWriMo this year, and plan to win again!
Novel Info: Coming across a version of the fairy-tale "The 12 Dancing Princesses" in mid-August, I commented it couldn't possibly do for a NaNoWriMo story because of the sheer number of characters. Turns out my muse is perverse and likes challenges.
Other goals: Last year I was in the final throes of a soul-destroying job, and so didn't get involved with the community or frankly have much FUN writing my novel. The goal this year is to have some fun, go to some stuff, and write something I might conceivably let someone else some day see.

Name: Stephanie Gildart (Elizabeth is my middle name, so "Seliza")

Age: 25

Location: The corners of Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, and Auburn. (Not far from Highline Community College and the Woodmont Library.) I'd say I'm most affiliated with Federal Way, if I had to nail it down, though.

Years done NaNo: Since 2004, and all victories. (For some reason, I fail at JulNoWriMo every year I try it, since 2007, though.)

Novel Info: I'm going to be shooting for 200K and at least two novels this NaNoWriMo as I draw out my inner high school student and start a total rewrite of at least the start of the series I first started writing in ninth grade, "The Phoenix Girl Chronicles." Is fantasy.

Other Goals: 200K :) I made 150K last year with some effort. I think I can do it. Also, doing all the homework I possibly can in advance over the course of October. I'm calling October "PerHoWoMo: Personal Home Work Month." A lot of my assignments this quarter are neatly laid out in the syllabus, and there's no reason to procrastinate them. Yar!

I like to "Yar," by the way. I do use "yar" in daily conversation. Random fact about me ;)

Age: 21
Location: Lynnwood (technically "Unincorporated Snohomish County" but... yeah, it's Lynnwood)
Years done NaNo: This will be year four. Looking to tie up my win/loss record.
Novel Info: A vaguely steampunk fantasy about two people who meet when they get caught up on the guerrilla side of what amounts to a civil war. The story mostly focuses on the two characters and how the war affects how they relate to each other, as well as the qualities the war brings out in them - both good and bad.
(I also have another idea about a girl going through her last day of high school - how she interacts with people knowing she may not ever speak to them again, how she feels about closing that chapter of her life, etc. But I am determined to write the first one because it's been in my head for months, so I am forcefully shoving this one on the backburner.)
Other goals: I just really, really want to actually finish a story. I have yet to finish anything original other than short stories. I blame it on being something of a perfectionist, but NaNo is the time to throw that out the window, right? :D

Years Done NaNo: 2005-2008, so this is my fourth year, and hopefully my second victory.
Novel Info: Fantasy/religious novel about God and Satan's game to determine who is the better sibling. Basically humanity was created in the context of this game and they are competing for human souls. Angels make an appearance, demons are major characters, and the mortals are stuck somewhere in the middle. And where are God and Satan's parents in all this? Outline is almost done, but I still need a title.
Other Goals: Stay on top of word count so I can sleep the last week of November (at some point), attend a write-in, not let my grades slip while doing this.

Age: 42

Years done NaNo: 2007, 2008, won both.

Novel Info: I'll update this when we're closer. I have a couple ideas I'm working on. It's definitely going to be Adventurous with a SF bent. I doubt I'll continue the "30 Days" series this time.

Other Goals: I'm probably going to shoot for 100K this year. When I uhh..."left" my last job I decided to become a writer full-time, so this time...NaNoWriMo "counts"...whereas in the past I did it more for fun. I want whatever I write to be something I take to agents after some revisions.

Age: 49 (and turning 50 mid-November)

Location: Shoreline

Years done NaNo: Zero. Only heard about it early this year. Immediately took half of November off from work. Did Script Frenzy in April and won (and even though writing screenplays has never been a dream of mine, actually finishing something sort of longish was a wonderful feeling). I also did a couple of "minor" wrimos this summer, which were actually pretty major, because in July and half of August I finished my first novel (well, the first draft). So now I don't have the added pressure of trying to finish my first novel before I'm 50. But evidently the 50 and over group is the most prolific of the age ranges, as the Seattle group is the most prolific of the regions. So based on that, I have a lot to live up to.

Novel Info: Historical fantasy (14th century-ish) with a person from the present who blunders into another world. There will be sorcery, plague, romance, religious fanatics, tragedy, comedy, betrayal, and a cast of dozens.

Other Goals: Actually come up with a decent title for this and my first novel. (My screenplay was titled "Time and Space," to give you an idea of my poor title-creating skills...)

My novel this year is hard to discribe, its a lot more serious then I've writen in previous years and its sort of a character study on sexism in sociaty and schools. Its about a group of boys in a sort of femminist school. The idea behind it being that a lot of people take things like feminism to such an extreme that there opressing men. I'm realyl exited about this premis.
