Hey all.

Last year someone mentioned the idea of a NaNo Sleep over, we have now made that a reality. On the 31st of October to the 1st of November there will be a Write-Over, so those wanting to start at Midnight on the dot, you will be able to do so with other nanoers around you.

We have room for 12 people (myself and Sue are not included in this count. And neither is Sam since she's already
said she'll come :) ). All you need to bring is your laptop/paper and pens and money for your tea/coffee. The only other thing we ask is that if you want feeding (as many do) bring some sarnies or chocolate or anything else edible really, to share or for yourself, up to you guys (Though sharing would be very nice. And add to a sense of community. :) ) . Coffee will cost £2.75 for each cup you want.

This will be starting at 9pm and going right through until 9am on November the first. If you are coming to the Kick-off during the day then you are welcome to stay on and hang out with Sue and myself (we can't go home 'cause we live too far away so once coffee lounge shuts we'll probably go sit in a pub until the room is available). The same goes for if you're coming to the Write- in the next day. If you don't come to the Kick off in the afternoon then we'll meet you outside the hotel at 9. If you could get there promptly then that would be a great help (because MLs get cold too :(). If you want to NaNoMail me
and exchange mobile numbers so that you have a lifeline if you get lost then that would be fine. :)

Myself and sue will be having breakfast in the Victorian Restaurant, you are welcome to tag along. A full English Breakfast (with juice, toast and coffee!) will cost £5.50 per person (there is of course a veggie option for the same price). After that we'll probably head over to the coffee lounge early, so this will be great for your wordcounts.

We need responses ASAP as we need to get this all booked. As there are limited places we have to ask you to reply to this post with a definite answer and I'm afraid that turning up on the day will probably not be an option. (It pains us to have to say this and if there are spaces available once we have booked then we will post a message saying so.)

Unfortunately we will have to make this over 18s only as we would be held responsible if something were to go wrong. I'm sorry to have to have this limit, as I know you youngsters have a lot to offer the group. But I'm afraid it's going to have to be that way.

Hope to see you there.

Lily and Sue

IMPORTANT: I need to know numbers before the 17th of October so that I can book the room. If you want to come, but are not ready to put yourself down as a certain then please put yourself down as a maybe so that I can at least know numbers.

I really really don't want to nag about this, but I need to know how many people are coming ASAP so that we can book it. I will discuss with Sue when we need to make the deadline for sign ups and get back to you.

But I just want to make a small request. Could you all just reply to this post saying whether you can't come or whether you're taking some time to check that you can come/ decide whether to come or not?

As I said I don't want to nag about this but I will be needing to ring the hotel ahead of time in order to book the room, so I need to have at least a basic idea of the numbers. If I need to then I can ring up with a list of Maybes. I appreciate that people have commitments and if you can't make it then that's fine and just drop a quick reply saying that you can't.

Thankyou in advance.

Lily

I won't be able to come to this, I'm afraid. If all goes to plan, I'll be up in Huddersfield from Thursday to Sunday (writing time on the train if I take my Eee PC) so will miss it.

Sounds fun though :P I envy you lot.

I can't I'm afraid (in both the sense of sad and of being fearful of spending a whole night writing).

I should be at the kick-off earlier in the day, but don't think I can make the write-over :( Enjoy it though!

Urgh, poor you - it's meant to rain all weekend up here in Hudds, and the weather tomorrow and friday isn't going to be much better, apparently. And quite ironic really, that the dates you're coming up to Huddersfield are the details I'm coming -from- Huddersfield to Birmingham. lol.

Well my friend is teaching me pumpkin carving (18 and never carved a pumpkin before) and she's doing a sort of craft fayre thing on the Saturday, with a Halloween party on the night... so I'll be indoors for most of it, or under a balcony, with knives and large orange fruits. :D

And we may see each other on the train passing in opposite directions :P

Someone else has an Eee PC?! and My girlfriend went to uni in Huddersfield!! These coincidences are wild.

On the subject of the midnight write-over: I am afraid I must declare my intention to be absent on this occasion. Money worries just make this one a no-go, and for that I apologise.

I like the idea, but I don't think I can make it...

I am going to start writing at midnight though, and could pop into town for breakfast. I don't think the Victorian Restaurant is open on Sunday mornings, but the Briar Rose does a good breakfast.

I'm interested, so I'll say Yes, even though I'm not a cert.

Don't expect me to be staying up until stupid o'clock though; I don't think my body's programmed to do all-nighters any more!!

Gosh; we only have three certs and one maybe (Rob). Is the hotel really gonna let us have the room for three and a maybe?

I think as long as we still pay for the room there won't be a problem. I think Lindsey's a maybe as well though. And we've still got to ask Martin and Lloyd. There's still time. Then if needs be, we can book the room and see if anyone wants to come last minute.

This isn't definite. But we could /possibly/ open it up to over 16s if you get written permission from your parents saying that they're happy for you to be there and won't hold us responsible if you get injured.

Sue and I are discussing this at the moment. It may be that we decide it's not worth the risk, but if you could reply saying whether you would be able to do this then that would be helpful.

Where is it by the way?

Like I said, Sue and I will talk about this and get back to you. We'd love everyone to come! But there is the matter of health and safety and whether we feel comfortable with younger people there.

Did I not say where it was? Whoops! It's in the Thistle Hotel, which is sort of opposite Snow Hill station. If anyone needs directions just PM me or Sue. :)

Having just spoken to Sue, I can now announce the following:

Under 18s are now welcome at the Write-Over, however, we are going to have to insist on the following guidelines:

The young person must be over 16.
Parents must sign a consent form stating that they are happy having their young person at the write-over.
Parents must speak to an ML prior to the Write- Over. (Sue will be in Coffee Lounge on the 24th of October, if that isn't possible then PM either me or Sue and we'll try and arrange a time which is suitable).

I don't think I can make the write-in, but I work in a college, so I've been CRB checked. Is that useful for future events?

Cheers,

David.

Please do so soon, so I know to save a little money to head down there.

IMPORTANT:

I need numbers before the 17th (that's this Saturday.) If you want to come, but need to check that you're available ect. so are not ready to put your name down, then say you're a maybe so that I can add you to the list.

Please, please, please do this as soon as possible, as I don't want to exclude anyone.

I might be in Paris that week but if my replacement passport doesn't show up soon I won't be. Not very helpful but it's another maybe to add to the pile.

Hi All,

Sounds like fun. Could I ask if there'll be any cost involved? Might be a silly question, but I'm on a bit of a budget and would just like to know whether its something I can afford to take part in before I say yes.

Ginger :-)

Just £2.75 for each cup of coffee you want. It's £10 for wireless and I'm not absolutely sure that it's not per person (though that could just be me being paranoid).

But that's all really. And if you don't need coffee or wireless (which if you want it then I'd suggest just bringing a tenner just in case.) then you don't need to spend a penny. :) (except travel fees...)

Hi Cireia,

Sounds fab, sign me up :-D

I've informed the boyfriend that he's being abandoned for the night and am gonna pop to the stationers before then for some essentials. I only live a couple of miles down the road, so should be able to get there with minimum fuss.

See ya there,
Ginger

Wonderful! May I ask if you're meeting us at the hotel or coming with us from the coffee lounge?

In fact could everyone that's meeting us at the hotel just post saying so, just so we know who we're waiting for so we don't have to wait outside for too long in the cold?

I was going to pop along to the Coffee Lounge for the lunchtime meeting, but pop back to my house in the evening to ensure that the boyf and the cat don't feel too lonely, lol. Also, to ensure that I don't feel too tempted to head to the pub and spoil my chances at staying up all night :-)

I'll be back in town to meet at the hotel by 9.

Oh alright then, i'll come ;-)

Do they mind if we bring snacks? I have a tendency to over-prepare and don't want to get told off if I bring too many lollipops...

Hi G.V,

I'm a bit of an over-preparer myself, glad to hear that I'm not the only one, lol. I was thinking about bringing a big tin of biscuits for everyone to munch on in case people want something to dunk in their teas/coffees (I'm not a coffee-drinker anymore, so I don't know if dunking bic's in coffee is the done thing) I'm sure they won't stop us, but if they try, I have a really comfy but baggy jumper that I can hide things in. Nothing come between me and my sugar rush....
