Hey, anybody else out there from the Southeast corner of the state? Pittsburg, Girard, Frontenac, Galena, Columbus, and so forth? How about some PSU students? Let's speak up and give each other some support!

I've lived in Pittsburg the last six years (lived in Southwest Missouri prior to that) and this is my second year in Nano. I tried a mystery last year, but am planning a horror novel this year.

There are a couple of us from Pittsburg planning a writing event in November, so stay tuned to this thread for more information.

Hi, Eleanor,
Where in SE Kansas are you? : )

As you know, PJ and I are from Pittsburg, we hope you are close enough to come to our Nov. 14th event, called the "Write and Rap". Right now it's still nebulous, but we plan on writing periods with talking (prompts, plots problems, etc.) periods with caffiend (yes, you heard me right!) and goodies.

Glad to find you, tell your friends about us!

Hello everyone!

I'm in Pittsburg. I go to PSU and I am majoring in English Lit. This is my first year doing NaNoWriMo and I am very eager for November to begin.

I look forward to hearing about the Pittsburg writing events and hope to get involved! :)

Hi,
welcome to the SE Kansas thread of NaNoWriMo! good to know you're here and wanting to get involved with the writing events. So far the only thing we have planned is on Nov. 14th, from 7 to 11 pm at the Little Room on 5th St. But we hope to make it a fun event for everyone!

There may be a camp theme involved, as PJ and I both are getting the "Camp WriMo" t-shirts. : )

Hope to meet you soon!

Hi,
our "Write and Rap" will be held on Sat. Nov. 14th from 7 to 11 p.m. at the Little Room in Pittsburg, KS. I'll have to get back to you with the exact address, but it's right off Broadway on 5th St.

We'll be doing more advertising of it closer to the event, thanks for putting us on the calendar. I'm getting very excited about this year; I got a good taste of what it feels like to win last year.

Thanks again,
Lorraine

Welcome aboard, Diane and everyone else that's posted! I knew this area had plenty of crazy and creative folks. ;)

We're putting up some posters this weekend, so hopefully we'll see a few additions to the thread.

Welcome, Cara!

You're going to love what WriMo does for you! It's such a confidence builder.

I, too, love Richard Bach.

Sorry this is so short, between clients and checking the forums.

Hope to meet you sometime,
Lorraine

Hello Lorraine! It's nice to know of at least one other local that doesn't ask Richard who??

I am ready for this challenge, that is what my writing has really needed a real dead line challenge. I have some of my story mapped out and have been obsessing over November when I get to see what I'm made of.

Hey!
I live between Pittsburg and Joplin. But lived in Pittsburg for 7 years. I did Nanowrimo last year but only got 9,055 words,... *Sheepish grin* So! This year I plan to finish my story from last November, only, adding 50,000 words to the 9,055.
Yeah, Anyways! I'd love to meet up with you all if I can. We'll see! :D

Hey, don't feel bad – I only officially got 11,000 or so last year (actually got closer to 19,000, but didn't have a chance to upload it). The thing is, before NaNo, I was writing 0 for myself. :)

Well 11,000 is better than 9,000!! lol! But I hope this year will be different! For both of us! I've gotten my plot line all down and from there I think I'll wing it! Just adding filler in between! :P We'll see how it goes I guess! November in only a few days away! I can't believe it! :S :P :D

Jenny we must be neighbors! LOL I live between Joplin and Pittsburg also, though its a bit closer to Pittsburg. There is no town for where I am, when asked where my house is my reply is usually "in the bull pasture."

It will be a write in, but since I'd never put one on before, I just gave it that name. I figured there are going to be some newbies who will want to "rap" (talk) about WriMo as well as write.

I'm thinking we'll start with a short meet and greet period. Then we'll write for a hour, then take a short break where we can ask for help or ideas or throw out a dare or challenge. Repeat as the writing, etc.

There might even be some door prizes. . . . : ) (most words in the evening, took a dare, etc.)

Hope that sounds like fun! I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone!

heyhey...erm, well I've just found out about this whole thing just recently from a friend of mine and...I have to say, I'm excited all over--

Especially now that I find a rather sizable group of people from the same area~
I too live in Pittsburg. I've only lived here a year and a half, but I've come here very often during the course of the last many years. And on that same note, I'm also attending PSU, in my second year (Psych major, Creative Writing minor).

That's, well, all I have to say for now...being as shy as I am. But yay, can't wait for more~

I am also hoping to make it to the write in, it sounds like so much fun. But life has it's way of not letting me plan anything, so we will see.

Todd I was excited about finding so many from the area too. It's nice to know that you are not alone.

Hi, Todd,
Hadn't checked the forums lately, been clicking away on the keyboard. . .and still behind a bit. : ) How's it going for you?

Welcome to the group, and please plan on attending the write in here in Pittsburg on Saturday Nov. 14. It's at The LIttle Room, 108 W. 5th, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Or just stop by for awhile. Looking forward to meeting all the local WriMo folks.

Off to the laptop,
Lorraine

Welcome,
those of us in Pittsburg are aware of Weir! I have some friends who live in that area.

think you'll be able to come to the write in on the 14th? At the Little Room, 108 W. 5th in Pittsburg, from 7p.m. to 11 p.m.
PJ and I are hosting it; mostly writing, a little talk, coffee, tea, cocoa, cookies (if PJ's making some, they're AWESOME) and, rumor has it, DOORPRIZES! ("Yes, you too can win a door!" sorry, been up too late reading and writing and may have lost touch with sanity there for a moment!! LOL)
