So, I'm still in college after (2) years of doing this, and I'm hoping for a better turn out than last year. Shame on you, all you college students who were too busy with classes and work to write. ;)
A short intro, I'm Andrei. Technically a nice geeky CS major, but I'm branching out into other topics for my last year of college. I like creative writing (really!), running around shooting people with nerf guns, and dressing up in weird costumes. I'm juggling board positions in clubs, learning Japanese, three other classes, and graduation this semester, but I'm psyched to compete. And hey, if I can do it with all that on my plate, so can you!
Go ahead and leave introductions - I'll try to organize things to the best of my ability, if there's more than two of you this year! ;)

I AM IN COLLEGE PARK TOO!!!! (sorry, I know all caps is so horrible...but I'm so excited!) I didn't see this thread earlier. I'm a 7th grade reading teacher and this will be my second year WINNING (yes, I plan to win) NaNoWriMo. :-)
I'm hosting a 7th grade book club on Mondays from 4-5/6, and I'm supposed to be tutoring on Weds/Thurs until 6pm, but...I'm open after that or on Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays...and LOVE write-ins. They helped me so much last year when I was living in Glen Burnie.
Wanna set a date for the kick-off write-in?!

Hey, MissWoodyard! We over in the DC/Metro Area thread are discussing a Tuesday night write-in somewhere in College Park. Do you have any ideas for location? Right now, we've got McKeldin Library on campus, the Starbucks on Rte. 1, and IKEA up in the air for locations - nothing finalized yet, so keep looking! :)

Hi everyone!
I too am still in college after 2 years of doing this. However I still got time before the real world so I'm enjoying it while it lasts.
I'm Amit. I actually work with Andrei (small world). I am also a CS major but I enjoy literature. I take English classes when my schedule permits it, I am part of a satirical newspaper, and I just like to have fun. I absolutely refuse to do NaNo without music...my production level drops drastically (worse than when I do not have access to caffeine!).

Okay, let's stop dancing about the bush and get some write-ins scheduled. How does Tuesdays, 7PM, in the Starbucks on Rte. 1 sound?

Tuesday the 20th...Starbucks down by the campus, in downtown College Park? I'm in (just gotta find the location)! :-D
Shall we bring our laptops-slash-physical-notebooks and try to jot down some ideas/outlines for our first few chapters?
I'm soooooooo eager to get started!

Haha, my b ... there's no Starbucks on 1 near the campus ><;; There's one in the College Park Shopping Center (according to Google ... I live in North Campus) which I guess is by the 1 ... it's in the corner between Knox and Baltimore Ave (Rte 1) (again, according to Google). There appears to be a Cold Stone Creamery, a Chipotle's, a Radio Shack ... can I have some backup? Does this apocryphal store indeed exist?

There is a Starbucks in the shopping center very near the College Park campus. It is at 7338 Baltimore Ave, College Park, MD - (301) 277-0106. It's a good place for write-ins...

Howdy y'all. Name's Diana. Senior Linguistics and Japanese double major.
There's a Starbucks near campus? Which Starbucks? My geography is so fuzzy.

Hi guys -- my name's Rich; I'm a sophomore journalism major. Haven't done this before, but I'm really pumped to give it the ol' college try.
For those of you unsure of where the Starbucks is, it's pretty much on Route 1. If you walk to Route 1 from pretty much anywhere on campus and turn right, you'll get to it. You'll walk past the Thirsty Turtle and Potbelly and all of that, and then there's a shopping center on your right with a CVS and Chipoltle and such, and right in the middle is the Starbucks.
I'm definitely down to start plotting this Tuesday at 7 -- anybody else in?

*biggest facepalm in the world*
Why do I keep forgetting there's a Starbucks there? I go past it all the time. And people look at me strange when I bring up the Wawa's that used to be in the shopping center...
Na ja, we doing this Tues @ 7? I'm just getting out of koto then, so I'll see if I can make it (even though I hate paying for the meters there). Someone should bring a NaNo flier to plop on the table so we can identify each other (and so I don't look like an idiot staring around blankly. =P)
Also,
The Cow Nipple, perchance? My group (GSO) shared an office with them last year, maybe this year too (haven't been there yet). ----------

I'll try to be there. If anyone wishes to get there from on campus, the Green, Blue, Orange, and Purple lines all go past that shopping center.

I'm a UMCP grad student living in Greenbelt. I work full-time up near Baltimore, and things are really busy at the moment, but I hope I can make a write-in or two.

Another college student signing in - and fool enough to do this in grad school! What am I thinking? :P
I might be able to make a write-in or two on a Tuesday in that Starbucks - 7 is late for me, though, since I have to go back home to Silver Spring and I don't have a car.

Howdy folks. My name is Jeremy, and I'm a senior English major at Maryland. My schedule is too crazy for me to make any of these suggested meet up times, but I figured I'd let everyone know of my existence. This is my second year doing NaNo, and I hope to win this year. Good luck to everyone else!

We were thinking of trying the second floor of Stamp next time, since there's more outlets and it doesn't close at 9.
Has anybody scoped it out yet?
