Sounds like we have more Longmonters this year interested in write-ins and meet and greets!

I will be back in town on the 28th, so any time after that, I'd love to participate in a meet & greet. Please feel free to arrange an earlier meet if you are getting antsy. Just post it to this thread.

I've heard people mention the follow Longmont locales, which are all good:

The Human Bean -- I haven't been there yet, but I believe Alex when he says its conducive to writing. Alex, let us know what feedback you get about have a bunch of writers there. I am guessing that they would love to have us. If you could post their hours here, that would be good.

Borders at Hover Road -- I've been here. It is open until 9:00pm, I believe -- if someone knows the exact hours pleas post them here. I bet they wouldn't mind us meeting there for writing or meet & greets. Faewing, could you check the hours and propose times for write-ins here and a meet & greet time on the meet & greet thread (which I will start in a moment if it isn't started yet.)

Longmont Library -- this is a good spot. I believe it is open to 9pm as well. Would the person who posted that they write at the library suggest possible meet & greet time?

Vic's Espresso -- hours are 6am to 6pm, so it is good for weekdays and weekends. I suggest we try a meet and greet there on Saturday, 10/31 from 2pm tp 4pm. I'll happily host that.

Please add more places to the list, if you like.

Hey, funkylama! I was talking about the Vic's Espresso in Longmont on Airport Rd at the corner of Nelson and Airport. (Sorry if I did not make that clear. I was typing fast.) But, that does not mean that another happenin' can be happenin' at one of the Boulder Vic's. Let us know if that is of interest to you and we'll see if a Boulder contingent is up for it!

I'm a fan of Folsom(open to 12) and The Laughing Goat on campus(I think open till 2?), not that I'd turn down Vics at all, but they are only open till 6.

I've got my kids on the 31st so I can't do a meet and greet that day. : ( I talked to my friend Chris at Borders here in Longmont and he's double checking with management to see if they would mind us gathering there. He said it should be fine Mon-Thrus day their 10-9, Fri and Sat they don't close until 10 so their a good place for late meeting if people can't meet earlier.

I'm out of town for Halloween and November 1st, but I'd definitely be up for meeting in Boulder any other time - especially at the Laughing Goat.

I'm putting my vote in for the Human bean - I might not make it to the halloween event either, but would like to attend some other write-ins.

Hey,
Just wondering if there is going to be a Meet and Greet in Boulder. I am a CU student and this is my first year writing here. I'd like to see who is involved!

I would love to meet-and-greet in Boulder. On Saturdays, the family tradition this summer has been to meet at Healing Tea for card games, internet games, geeking out, and/or writing. Healing Tea is at 33rd and Arapahoe; they serve ever so many kinds of tea and also really yummy Korean food. Would anyone be interested in a noon meet-up there?

Sounds like we're having trouble coming up with some consensus as to what works and where.

I'm going to suggest that, as far as Boulder is concerned, there should be something somewhere on Sat. Oct 31, and something somewhere on Sun. Nov 1. And that those somewheres be different somewheres.

What if - and I'm just pulling this out of my hat - we did this:

Saturday Halloween: Healing Tea (33rd/Arapahoe), Noon to Three.
Sunday NaNo Day 1: Laughing Goad (Pearl between 16th and 17th), maybe Two to Five?

(A little later on Sunday to allow those who attended the midnight kick-off to sleep in a titch more)

I have no idea if those times work for people, but it seemed like the Healing Tea suggestion got at least one Yea, and other Boulder contributions were "Laughing Goat anytime" or "downtown somewhere" along with "can't make the 31st." So... what do y'all think?

I leave Longmont to those of y'all who plan to be up there, along with our fearless leader Alienor who, if my calculations are correct, is juuust getting back into town now!

(Good darn thing this snow is going to clear up by the weekend, giving us a chilly but sunny kick-off!)

Vic's is only open until 6pm on the 31st. Can you come to a Meet & Greet on Sunday, the 1st from 2pm to 4pm, or 4pm to 6pm?

Erin, could you host a write-in at the Human Bean in Longmont? I would come. What time do you usually write there? If you can host, I'll put on the calendar so we can get more WriMos involved.

If anyone would like to suggest a place for a Meet & Greet on Sunday, Nov 1, in Longmont at a place other than Vic's, please post. I've heard that we have a lot of late-nighters. I don't happen to be one of those lately, but that doesn't mean I won't come out late to your favorite place to meet you!

I've heard:

Brewing Market is open until 9pm Sun-Thurs and until 11pm on Fri and Sat
The Human Bean is open until 10pm.

I think that's it for late night places. It's sounds like Borders is not completely open to a big meeting there, but I am sure they wouldn't mind a few WriMos showing up for writde-ins.

I am expanding the hours on Sunday to Vic's closing time: 6pm. So I will be there from 2pm to 6pm for the Meet and Greet. I hope more people can make it! If not, I'll just get some more noveling done! :-}

I will try to scope out Brewing Market in Longmont this afternoon for possible evening write-ins later in the month. I'll post back what I find out. I am also going to hit the library if possible.

John and I are at Healing Tea now. I'm brainstorming and idly worrying about Daylight Savings Time, and he's doing some combinatorial mathematics. I have not been very prepared with printing out table tents and fliers, but I have taken a NaNoWriMo postcard that just happened to be in my bookbag, and propped it up in a cleverly slit coffee cup. So between that and my brown 2007 NaNoWriMo T-shirt, and the stickers all over my laptop, you'll know it's us. Also we're practically the only ones in here, so that's helpful.

Remember, if you order the bibimbob, you have to specifically state that you want the kim-chi and spicy sauce. And you do. It's that good.

Yay! May there be many merry authors in attendance.

We had a lovely hour with Mongoose, Barbara (bamahler), Deb (deblkf), and [...aargh, short term memory failure! I'm sorry. Please remind me what your name was, if you get onto the forums sometime soon?]. We had a great time talking shop, specifically the bit that goes "How do we find the time to write this much in November?"

Barbara, by the way, will be having a book signing at the Boulder Bookstore on December 9th. She is the author of The Hole In The Sky, a young adult fantasy novel published by local Sea Turtle Publishing. This is something that should be widely known and widely attended!

Edit: We have also had a wonderful visit with Holly (LippyLu), and we talked about ideas and reality and stories and giving oneself permission to write a really rough draft. And now John and I are going to head out - it's still about 10 minutes until 3, but he needs food (and isn't a fan of the cuisine here, sadly).

Awesome Meet & Greet at Vic's in Longmont. We had Nancy, frozenfoxfire, choujiinator, lindseyk, and Cheryl, as well as myself and we had fun getting to know each other (excepting the folks that came together -- they'd met at the previous party & decided to hang out for the rest of the day.... and night!)

We got some ideas for Write-ins in Longmont. I'll post those in the Longmont Write-Ins thread!

Go Longmont and Boulder Region!!!

I don't know whether anyone is planning on going to the Laughing Goat for 2:00 today, but I may be a slight touch late. I'm at Foolish Craig's, just a block down, and will run on over as soon as I've wolfed down my "Foolish Huevos."

I'm wearing light blue jeans and a blue NaNoWriMo T-Shirt ("For Those About To Write"--what year was that?). Hair's up in a bun. Will have my NaNo Postcard Onna Cardboard Tube. If no one else is around when I get there, I'll try to get a table near the front where there's sunlight to enjoy!

I hope everyone's Day 1 is going well!

I am here with Sue and Shirely and we are talking novels. We are all interested in adding to our word count, so we are going to start an impromptu write-in until someone else shows up who want sto chat

Wow. I think "Gee, I didn't expect it to be this crowded" is going to be the thing I catch myself saying every single time we have a write-in.

John and I got to the Laughing Goat around 2:15 and found Steve (Awesomestiv) and Stephanie (Doal) already here. We're all hard at work towards the back of the cafe, clocking up the words (or, in John's case, getting started on his November programming project) - but don't be shy of introducing yourself if you're joining us for the first time!

What I should have said is that we are here at Vic's on Airport Rd in Longmont and we are writing away. Cheryl and Tricia have joined us as well. The write-in tent is up, and I am wearing my navy blue Camp NaNoWriMo t-shirt.
