Great for motivation: CreateSpace.com will once again offering a free proof copy to all our 2009 validated NaNo winners! More info can be found in the main thread: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3286025 but I wanted to make sure all the Edmowrimos knew about this offer.

I know a few of our wrimos got proof copies from LuLu a few years ago. Did anyone here take advantage of the CreateSpace offer last year?

I got one from LuLu. Very excited to finish now. Extra motivation for sure. ^__^

The horror of two half finished novels with enough typos to kill a dictionary sitting on my shelf. Very fun!

I got a little scared last year because of the letters pdf, but I'm going to try to get a free copy of this year's novel! I'm so happy CreateSpace is making that offer again. There's nothing like holding your novel in your hands :). Sure there may be typos, but I love my novel anyway!

I think yowiemommy and Kriggi got their copies. It looks good.

Even if CreateSpace took away their offer I'd still pay to get one. Having books I've written sitting on my book shelf is pretty darned awesome. Make sure you spend some time on cover design though, it really pays off.

Oh, and once you approve the proof they send you you can have your book sold on Amazon. The royalties they give you are utter crap but it's super exciting when you log in and see someone bought a copy of your book (and equally disappointing when you login and see that you haven't sold any..heh).

That's a very nice offer, I also love that it gives 6 months time to redeem it, so you can at least do some editing.

I ordered a free copy from Create Space last year, and was really happy with the book. They do a great job and their service is second to none (and you can't beat the price). I am going to make more effort this year in getting the cover designed a little better, and doing a better layout of the book before ordering. I had trouble figuring out some of the templates to get things to line up the way I wanted, but with a little help from family members, who are more computer savvy than I, we got it looking pretty good. I am writing a sequel to last year's book, so I really want to have both as real hard-copy books, therefore Create Space was one of the real motivations for me to do NaNoWriMo again. Thanks.
