NaNoWriMo! What a massive endeavor--thousands upon thousands of people all getting the support they need to write their hearts out!

And who will pay for that support?

You and other wrimos.

Here are info and links for donating to NaNoWriMo. The Office of Letters and Light (OLL, the umbrella for NaNoWriMo, ScriptFrenzy, and the Young Writer’s Program) is a 501c(3) non-profit, so donations are tax deductible.

You can Donate online here. If you donate $10 or more, you’ll get a halo on your profile, with other giveaways for larger donations.

Short of cash in these down financial times? You can support the cause even when you're broke, including Goodsearch and Ebay Giving Works, and get sponsored by family or friends.

And if you want something tangible for your money and let others know about NaNoWriMo, you can buy shirts, mugs, merit badges, or posters-- items from the store to help fund OLL, too.

Where does the money go? To support NaNoWrimo's youth and adult novel-writing programs and operating expenses. If you want to see exactly how OLL spends money, take a look at the budget page.

It’s payment for an intense and insane creative-writing workshop. Help support the dreams of tens of thousands of writers–including yourself!

sometimes you just gotta do it yourself.

I send in a check.
Here's the webpage about it.
https://store.lettersandlight.org/how-do-i-donate-check

the address from it:
The Office of Letters and Light
2101 Telegraph Ave, Suite A
Oakland, CA 94612 USA

It takes a little longer to get that halo on your profile, but it works for me. If donating on-line is your deal, go for it. Make that halo shine.

I feel like it is important for me to help keep the Nano machine working. They keep the servers and forums running and arrange for all the things during the month that keep me writing.
surely that's worth 10 or 25 bucks.

I like to think this is a month-long writing camp that all these great people get together and write like crazy and support one another through good ideas and bad plots and way way way over-caffeinated moments. Those couple bucks are like the tuition for the course or camping fees or a couple cups of coffee to rent the space to type or write within.

I'm sending mine in tomorrow. I encourage you to do the same if finances allow.

I just bought a NaNoWriMo Tshirt, donated some moo-lah, and got the bedtime story book (awwww). I'm looking forward to getting my halo.

I also set my homepage to goodsearch. That way I can generate them some money all year long!

Thanks cdraven!
I see a few other halos out there (mine isn't there yet - heaven is still weighing my soul 17...18 grams...).
Why do some of the rest of you think it's important to donate?

I now have both laptop & desktop Firefox browsers set up to use Goodsearch!
(I'll just yahoo it for the next couple of months in lieu of my usual google-girly ways.)

Bought a cool camp nanowrimo t-shirt! I wear it and instantly feel guilty for not writing and head for the laptop.

No better time than today to chip in $10 or more and get your halo and keep NaNo alive and helping you kick out those words!

Go for it!

Does buying a t-shirt or something like that count towards the Donation Day total? But it doesn't get you the halo, am I right?

Right--I think this is about the outright charitable giving, the only way to get the halo.

We've had 3 people here in the KC metro donate so far today, and our region has donated $934 so far this year. Join in and see if we can break $1000 today.
