Hi folks

it would be great to resurrect the Camel pub write-ins again. For those of you who aren't familiar with the venue, it's about 5 mins walk from Bethnal Green tube and in the past they were kind enough to reserve the big table at the end for us, and we could easily fit in 8-12 people with some availability to plug laptops in (limited though). Most importantly, the pies are great! We would normally write for a couple of hours from about 6:30 - 8:30, with some continuing afterwards while others concentrated on drinking and pie consumption. I'm thinking Monday as Sun/Tues/Thurs already have central London write-ins pencilled.

For the weekends, (Saturdays?) I think the Britannia beside Victoria Park might work well and I can have a chat with the owners to see if we could get some of the tables in the restaurant reserved; or perhaps use the upstairs room. It gets busy but the restaurant is slightly set back so should be a little quieter. It's a short walk from the village where the 425 and 277 buses stop; or on the 388 from Hackney Wick.

There's another pub I'm going to investigate which is slightly closer to Mile End tube too.

If you're interested in coming along to either of the write-ins mentioned above, please let me know so I've got an idea of numbers before I go ahead :-)

Best
Gail

I'm down for both of those, although I doubt I'd make it to both every week! Although my clueless little self would need more direction to the locations as I'm new to the country... although I'm familiar with Hackney Wick station as that's where I get off to go to a friend's. Just don't know the area aside from the short walk to my friend's flat :P

(PS. Adding in the RE: automatically made my subject too long! I found that amusing for some reason....)

Definitely interested! I live right by Mile End so Bethnal Green would be quite convenient. If you want any help with organizing, let me know; I'm more than willing to lend a hand where I can (even if it's just finding some extension cords and/or power strips to increase outlet availability).

Great, well we're all set for the Camel again, I will be there from 6:00pm on Mondays to make sure everything's ok with writing and we'll aim to kick off at 6:30, but people can show up as and when and join...

We won't be able to rely on using power so please bring charged laptops, folks :-)

Hi Gail

As a newbie to this I would appreciate a bit of moral support so would definitely be interested in coming along on a Monday.

Thanks

Amanda

Hi folks

we are definitely on for the Monday night write-ins at the Camel, which people have responded about but there seems to be less people up for Saturdays - any takers?

Hope to meet some of you at the kick-off party on Thursday :-)

Best

I am interested in saturdays, especially if i end up moving into the area (anyone know a flat that needs a girl and a cat???) I might alternate with the other saturday write in but in general find pubs preferable as a tipple is great inspiration -- and motivation!

So, any particular place in the Camel where we should be meeting? Or any tale-tell signs of other Nanowrimoers (aside from laptops and junk food?) Will it be the big table at the back? :)

I'm down for Mondays! I've lived in and around Bethnal Green/Hackney for years, but I'm not quite sure where The Camel is... (however, google and/or multimap will solve that for me, I'm sure :-P)

Is one going to be happening tonight? Or will they start next week?

Hi there East Londoners!

I'm planning on coming along tonight to The Camel. I did this two years ago (didn't get beyone 16,000 as I remember) and found the write in at The Camel useful and fun! Will be great to meet some people and get into the swing of things, am feeling rather determined this year.

However, wondering if anyone knows if I'd be able to plug in my computer at The Camel? It's old and crap and the battery doesn't hold any energy!! I'm planning on getting a new battery to help me through the month, but won't arrive in time for tonight!! Just, if there's no option to plug in, I'll bring notebook and pen :-)

Looking forward to meeting you all!

Jacky

Ah.... and I just read the initial email properly and realised you've already mentioned there's plug in options at The Camel, though limited!! Doh! I'll get there early, and bring notebook and pen just in case. And perhaps an extension cord?? ;-)

It was nice to meet those of you who came out tonight!! I've added most of you as a writing buddy on here, aside from Allistair and the girl who rode the tube home. I forgot your name already I'm so sorry, so you might be in the thread and I just haven't noticed!

The pie I had really was delicious. I'm so proud of how productive we all were!!

I'll try to go to the George tomorrow in Wanstead to see about the possibility to go there, even if it's just for this weekend.

Hopefully will see you all again :)

SATURDAY:

I booked in space for up to 10 (although I'm sure there'd be more room if some people showed up!) in WANSTEAD instead of near Victoria Park. Gonna make a thread but thought I'd post here too.

Hi all,

Just wanted to say hello; it was nice to meet you all at The Camel last night; I was the one writing by hand (total word count for the seesion a surprising 2,200!).

Hope those of you who ate enjoyed your pies. They smelled amazing.

Will hopefully see you at the one-after-next. :) Have tried to add you as buddies, but I think the site's about to fall over again.

Hope to see some of you tonight in the Camel :-)
