Halloween is a great holiday all on its own, but what makes it even better is that at midnight it turns into NaNoWriMo, the best holiday of the year! On October 31, you're invited to a Halloween potluck that will become a write-in the moment that November 1 begins.
Steph (skneal) has generously invited all South Bay NaNos to attend a Halloween party at her beautiful South San Jose home. Come in costume, bring some food to share, party, and then break out the laptops and notepads at midnight and start your novel!
RSVP TO RECEIVE THE ADDRESS by replying to this post or sending me NaNoMail. Please RSVP even if you know Steph's address so that she knows how many guests to plan for. Feel free to use this thread to talk about what food you're planning to bring, discuss your costume, or arrange carpools.

I'll be making deviled eggs (big surprise!), a jello brain, a jello heart, and have tons of Halloween candy on hand, plus beverages.

I'll be there! I'll probably stop by my local grocery store and pick up some pasta salads on my way out, since I'll be coming directly from work. Dunno what I'll do for a costume, but maybe I'll figure something out! Steph, I hope you won't mind if I use your bathroom to get INTO my costume, and well, probably out of it too? *bats her eyelashes* And...might need some...assistance lacing myself up. Lets just say the costume involves a corset and leave it at that. It's difficult to drive while wearing one.
So...if someone can let me know how many folks are going to be there, I'll know how much to bring. :D

Yes you can have access to a bathroom! And I can hand over door duty to the hubster and help you get laced up!
:-)
Not sure how many will be coming, but I'd bring food for about 15 or so.

I'm closing in Mt. View that night, BUT if I'm good, I might be able to show up just as the pumpkins turn to turkeys. I'm willing to bring my ehm... symbolic bean dip, but people will be writing furiously by the time I get there. Perhaps I'll save it for the halfway party.

I'll probably be able to come. I might not dress up as anything but a tired and unemployed college student. Is this bad?
Anyway, I can bring some chips or something. There's only so much that I can bring without breaking one budget or another. Either way, I'll be coming to this thing around 10 or something.

I am definitely planning to be there! I don't believe I know anyone, so I look forward to meeting you all (though I guess the meet-and-greet is a few days earlier).
So are we expected to bring snack-type foods, meal-type foods, or either? If the former, I could make some pumpkin or zucchini bread, or something along those lines. If the latter, maybe a soup?
Hmm, for costume, I'm tempted to put my small collection of semi-English clothes together and go as someone vaguely steampunkish. Not exactly a well-defined costume, though.

I'm planning to come! Don't count on me being in costume, but I'll bring a fabulous dish to share (read: chocolate peanut butter graham cracker goodness). :) My fiance will probably come as moral support and get out of our warpath when the writing begins!

Hi, everyone!
I will probably be attending the Halloween Party/Write-In. I'm not a terribly social person, so I think I'll go to the Meet-n-Greet and see how that goes first. As this is my first NaNo, I am really looking forward to getting started and the write-ins sound like fun. Also, I love a good Halloween party, so that's a bonus. :) I'm not sure what food I'll bring. I'll check back here closer to the party and try to bring something to balance out what everyone else is bringing, I guess.
I'm an MtF trans person who hasn't started transitioning yet (and I'm not sure anymore whether I actually will). In recent years, I've put together a sorceress costume I wear for Halloween. I don't feel like getting too much into the femme/makeup thing this year, so I'll probably be going as a mage of ambiguous gender. :)

At this point, I'm planning to be there. I will probably come late, 11-ish, because I'm trying to fit in some family fun too.
Don't know what I'll bring for food. Probably some Halloween cookies, or the like.

It's my first NaNo, so I think I would really like to come. (If it's okay with y'all having a noob like me with you.) It depends on the location, but I too am in South San Jose, so I should most likely be able to make it. I'll probably bring brownies since they're the only thing I know how to make... I'd really really love to come to this, but I would almost certainly need to carpool. I -might- be able to get a ride there, but I certainly wouldn't have a ride back... So if anyone is planning on carpooling, or if anyone has to swing near Cupertino for anything, It'd be awesome. I can pay a little for gas money if necessary, or I can meet at a landmark of some sort (DeAnza college, a starbucks, the mall, etc). If not I'll have to pass this meeting up :c
