Anyone else from Arlington on here? I'm close enough to Cambridge I can get there pretty easily but was wondering if anyone else local was doing NaNo!

Not Arlington, but Medford ... opposite side from Cambridge, I know, but I am in Arlington 3+ times a week!

I'm in Bedford but visit Jam 'N Java from time to time. We had a write-in there last year that worked pretty well.

I'm up for any suggestions. I just moved here over the summer so I don't know the area all that well yet! I work in Wilmington, so I'm probably not heading to the downtown write-ins mid-week!

While not from Arlington, I'm close. I'm on the Woburn/Winchester line.

I just went there for the first time too and immediately thought it would be the perfect place to have a write-in. I'm in for one!

How about a Tuesday or a Wednesday evening?

A Tuesday would be perfect, and any Wed. other than Nov 4th would also work. Does anyone want to try the first week in November, so Nov. 3rd in the evening? Maybe 6:30 or 7:00?

Sure, the 3rd at 6 or 7 (7 is better for me) would be great for me. Are you talking about meeting at Jam 'N Java?

That seems to be the place that everyone feels will work, so far anyway! Meeting at 7 is fine by me. Does that sound good to everyone?
Like I said, I haven't really been there before, but I'm guessing Jam N Java won't mind us setting up for a few hours? If we need to find out, I can ask.

When this is all set -- I have to read all the forum posts as part of my job, so it's easy for me to lose the thread of a conversation -- please e-mail me at letterslight -AT- gmail.com with the time/date that is set (and do this for future dates); I'd like to add it to the Google Calendar links. (An address for this place would be super as well!)
Cheers,

People meet at Jam 'N Java in fours and fives, even. It's a good-sized place. But if you want to call, no problem. So we are planning the 3rd at 7 p.m., if that works for everyone.

Great--It's at 594 Mass. Ave. Arlington, 02474. Tuesday, Nov. 3 (election day!), 7 p.m. on. Free wifi, great coffee, pastries and sandwiches, right off the bike path one mile from Alewife. (Mass. Ave. is also called Rte. 60.) 781-316-8400. My cell is 781-698-6205.

We may meet at the party this Sunday, but just so you know, I have a mac and will have the lid open with my Script Frenzy, Obama and wind power stickers on it (the last two are red, white and blue). I will get there early, and maybe sit in the more open area, to the left as you come in (but that depends of course.) Irene

I work in Boston, live in Lynn, and have never been to any kind of gathering (what can I say? I'm shy...) My son (who is also doing NaNoWriMo), however, lives in Arlington. I'm going to tell him about this.
One thing I noted in the directions: Route 60 is Pleasant Street, not Mass. Ave.

Oh, sorry, I made a mistake about Rte. 60, you are right it's Pleasant St. and Jam 'N Java is on the same block where it intersects with Mass Ave. There is a bank right on that corner, then Jam 'N Java, then the bike path comes out on the other side, across a small side street.

Bad news, guys - I'm pretty sure Jam'n Java closes at 7pm. I'll call to confirm, but I think that's what I saw on the door on my last visit. Any other venues that would be good?

yes, I just called to confirm - they close at 7pm. :-(
So, how do people feel about the Starbucks in Arligton Center?

Yes--Travis please change our write-in on Nov. 3 in Arlington at 7 to Starbucks, not Jam 'N Java. The address is 327 Broadway, according to their website, but it's right at where Broadway dead-ends at Mass. Ave., and is right near the corner of Mass. Ave. and Medford St., right in Arlington Center.

Good information on the new venue; I will make the appropriate changes to the events calendar.
That having been said:
•••You need to e-mail me at letterslight -AT- gmail.com to add/delete things from the calendar•••
I cannot stress this enough. I've made this request repeatedly -- in this forum, other forums, and both regional e-mails. E-mail is the easiest and most effective way to get scheduling information to me. Requests buried in forums that are updated hourly might well get lost in the shuffle. An e-mail will be acted on sooner and be less likely to create problems with errors and omissions on the events calendar.
Thanks,
----------Travis
