Hi.
I'm not sure how this "challenge/word war" thing works in general but I have an idea for one for us.
This year, we get 30 days plus one hour for our novels, thanks to Daylight Savings Time ending in November. (This is still a new thing for Indiana.) Since it ends in the early hours of November 1, is anyone up for a "lost hour" challenge?
The challenge is: write as much as you can from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m. Then the clocks turn back from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. and we get to do that whole hour over again. Two hours of writing, only one hour of November. Then we'll compare results to see who "won" and gets to set the next challenge.
Any takers?

I might be up for that if I'm awake at that hour. Oh, I might be working.
Well, anyway, here's a short bit on word wars: Basically the way it works is you challenge another person or persons, then you all note your respective word counts, and then decide on a time limit of any length you choose. At the end of the time limit, you see who has written the most words. It's a really fun way to ramp up your word count if you're falling behind.

Yay! Count me in!
We have a chat room for Indy for November (links to things like this are coming soon), and I'll be in it at midnight. I was planning to write during the free hour anyway, so a challenge makes it even sweeter.

Sounds like an awesome kick start for nano... I'm in. I'm sure I can phone it in on my classes the next day.
Are we all just posting our word counts at 2:00 then, and will it be a new chat or on the official counter?

I was going to start writing at midnight. I honestly don't know if I'll still be awake when things roll over, but since it's a Saturday night/Sunday morning and I don't have to go anywhere, I might be able to pull it off. It'd be fun just to say I did. I see lots of coffee in my future ...

So, did anyone else use that extra hour for writing? Between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., and then 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. again, I wrote a total of 1,324 words.
How did YOU do?
