anyone shooting for the fences this year?
teamevil came out on top, if I recall correctly last year - 135K and change
but he's limping this year, and is decaffeinated. hrmm.
meowtima went over 90K in his first year, but is focusing on quality this year.
that and his palmtop wouldn't be able to withstand the onslaught of so many words.
poetT is sometimes susceptible to a challenge, but is being a good girl this year and is not risking personal or carpal injury or deadened nerves and shooting pains
who is stretching their boundaries?
don't get me wrong, reaching 50,000 words is an achievement that only a minority of the entrants achieve - it is a major accomplishment. If you can get there, I'll shake your hand, maybe I'll even buy you a coffee if that's your thing.
but who is going for more? who just doesn't know when to stop?

Oh. Oops.
::hangs puppy ears low::
Well, a solid 75, I figure. It's never been my specific goal, anyway, so that'll make it new & different.

I tried to post this before, but I don't think the comment made it so...As a freelancer by trade I write between 5000 and 7000 words every day for the job and personal stuff. So, even though it is my first year, I am looking for Michener-like totals. How about 150,000? I may not make it because i am going for quality also, but...

I'm going to go however far my head, my hands, and the month of November will allow me! Lol.

Ones does not plan for magic. Magic simple happens. :)
Napkin math shows that at 60 wpm, one could win NaNoWriMo by putting in just under 14 hours of solid effort. Realistically it'll take at least twice that long, what with the thinking and talking and all. Doubling your goal is doubling that figure.

Some stories are short, some are long. I'm not going to push and prod mine past 50,000 unless it wants to go there. And hopefully that won't involve a lot of extra fluff that will be a pain to cut out later.
----------Using NaNo to complete my second book in this imagined series...
In Search of Truth: The Sherwood Chronicles
1. Stained
2. Forest of Lies (written!)
3. Unbroken
4. The Bow (NaNo)
and hopefully more...

I'm probably going to go for around 70,000. I'd like to be able to finish the darn thing, but I doubt 70,000 will do it.
I'll just write like a fiend and hope for the best.

excellent, excellent
fiends, puppies, 150, 70, 75 - I like it.
napkin math - if only I could type 60 wpm - lessee, if I type 10 wpm and I talk too much and keep checking my twitter page, uh oh.
you are all brilliant!
anyone else have lofty aspirations?

Since this is just my first time, I think it'll probably be good enough to just shoot for the 50k. But then, you never know, if I get inspired.... :3

I thought I better show my face into this. I am this year going to work on one novel for the moment. But I am hoping it hits 100K. I don't want to get confused this year with more then one.

I'm thinkin 90K, but the main goal is to finish the story for once during November.

Has anyone else noticed, btw, that Mike posts these threads without giving away any of his own plans?
Just his usual MO MO, of course.
I intercepted a breeze blowing by that said he could do 150k. If we could only believe his numbers...

Eri,
I think I'm gonna try and stay right behind your moderate goal (no more 100K for me!) . I'll shoot for 53,999. So, if you reach your goal, you will at least beat me :)

This year is feeling similar to last year, not in plot, but in...just the general size of the idea, I guess. So I will probably go over 50K again. A prediction of 60-70K would not be crazytalk, and if I see the opportunity to go higher, I'll take it. I would LIKE to write far over 50K, but I won't push the story past its limits.

Considering that this is the 10th day of the month and I have 24, 822 already typed, I think that I will probably get close to at least 70 or 80, 000 by the end. I am giving allowances for Thanksgiving and some birthdays that I will help to celebrate this month. My left hand is swollen and sore. The knuckles on both the first and second fingers (e,d,c finger and the r,t,f,g,v,b finger) are killing me with pain. My right hand is just sore all over. I have arthritis and this is really a push for me to type at all and I do type fast ( over 50 wpm.) when I am really into it.
I wish everyone the best and hope that the words just flow and make sense.
Hugs, Dee Dee

Yeah with over 28k under my belt in my first time I wouldn't be surprised if I hit somewhere near 60k, but I gotta say these six digit talks have got me intimidated. Maybe in subsequent years with a little better planning I'd be able to do that. I'm writing pretty much wherever my imagination takes me this year. I honestly never expected to do this well.
