*~*~*~*~*~*

I had fun with last year's survey, so it's been reset for this year. Here's the link:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=7AjIX3nyTqFow970_2bQulng_3d_3d

I'll post the results in this thread when we have at least 50 responses. I'll post the final results when we have a full quota of 100.

When the results from this year are in, we can compare it to '08 and see how things change over time.

Taken.

I request an "other" option for the gender question, though.

Well, an "other" option would definitely cover those who can be defined as an "other lifeform thereof." ;)

It would also cover people who don't identify as "male" or "female". Such as people who are born intersex, or people who identify as something under the genderqueer umbrella.

I added "Other" to the options for gender. I probably should have thought of that before...

If anyone who already took the survey would like their answer changed, let me know. Since I didn't ask for names, you'll have to tell me the date [and time, if you know when] you took the survey, and what your answers were.

Awesome. :)

You can change mine to 'other' then. I'm guessing it was around the same time I posted in this thread the first time (Oct 24, 2009 - 13:44).

For the question, "Do you have any dietary restrictions?" someone answered "Allergic to cats."

Errol, was that you?

I'm allergic to penicillin, but when a doctor at a clinic prescribed me some under a brand name I didn't recognize, I sure took it! Woo!

So no moldy sandwiches for me, I guess.

You need 'other' for library location and genre as well.

Every library branch is listed. I copied the Toronto public library's own list. If you live in another city, select your city instead of a TPL branch.

The genre question allows you to select as many as you want; if you write cross-genre, just select everything that applies. Am I missing a genre? I copied the list from nano. I thought they would have had everything...I hope I didn't leave one out by accident.

So far 53 people have taken the survey. I'm not going to post the result for every single answer now, but I copied some points of interest. Here are the half-way statistics:

Female - 62.3%
Male - 34.0%
Other - 3.8%

13-19 - 17.0%
20-29 - 54.7%
30-39 - 20.8%
40-49 - 7.5%

Toronto - 62.4%
Mississauga - 11.3%
Brampton - 7.5%
Vaughan - 11.3%
Richmond Hill - 7.5%

32.1% of these are doing nano for the first time.
Fantasy is the most popular genre, with 69.8%. SF is second with 45.3%.
Toronto wrimos are allergic to a variety of foods. The most common response was Celiac Disease.

I will post the full results when we have 100 responses.

I live in Oakville... which I didn't see listed among the other cities, but still puts me far enough in the GTA to be a part of Toronto. They don't have all of them (because there are so many subgenres) but they do have an other. For example, last year I did fanfic, which while it has some elements of other ones, primarily isn't any of them. This year I was fine with the choices you had, but I just wanted to say that other is always a good option to have. :)

Ah OK. I added Other to the list of genres.

I also added Oakville to the list of cities. If you would like me to change your answers, I'll need to know when you did the survey, and what your answers were.

I know there was a missing city last year, but I couldn't remember which one it was.

I chose Mississauga because I thought it was the closest. I did the survey right before I posted the first time (I think) Which seems to be Oct 27 at 9:30 ish. (yay for date stamps on posts). Didn't mean to be a such a bother about this. ;|

In response to people's comments:

Whoever wrote:
I am a single mom though so I can never know when I may be able to attend an event until that day (child care, you know). Not a dietary restriction, but there was no where else to put 'other comments!' *Note to survey creator...

That option was available last year, but was removed because it seemed redundant. The people who can't come all have the same 3 reasons: they live too far, work evenings, and/or have childcare issues. No one said they're not coming because they don't want to, although that might be a 4th possibility.

And to the person who wrote:
I like dragons.

Do you like to eat dragons, or do you just like them in general?
I'm not sure how dragons are related to one's diet... Interesting answer, though.

Don't worry about it, it's easy to change. Your location is now Oakville :)

So far we're at 62. That means 38 more people need to take the survey.

Is there anyone here who hasn't taken it yet?
