I always like meeting at the Uptown Borders on Tuesday and Thursday at 6PM. Uptown Borders is located on Indian School and Louisiana, in that outdoor mall place. Outdoor mall place, I have a gift with words.

Tuesday and Thursday nights at 6pm at Borders works for me.

I'm also free on Monday nights and live near the University.

If I didn't have classes at 6 on Tuesday and Thursday, I would so be there.

Tuesday and Thursday, noon at earliest to five, I will probably be in Zimmerman or near Zimmerman Library on UNM campus, though nothing is confirmed yet, since I sometimes work then....

Weekly drop-ins would totally help my progress, I know, I just have dodgy availability this year. Hopefully I'll get to attend something. >.>

I, alas, teach Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 9:20; 4:30 to 5:30 is my office hours; and I use most of my afternoon time as prep time. However, I might be able to find some time on Fridays to do something. Fridays at CNM are officially for meetings, but my part-time contract says I can't be forced to attend meetings.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at six and Uptown Borders sounds good to me as well. I leave near the area and my daughter is normally with her Nana those two nights anyway.

I will definitely give it a spin. Won't make them all, but it'll be nice to know they're happening. Dinner at California Pizza, drink at Elephant Bar, noveling at Borders with a coffee...Yep, I'm in. ;)

Great! I'm free most Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I love Borders, and I need help concentrating so being in a big group should be perfect. :D

At these meetings, maybe we can do some idea-swapping and sharing, too. I'd love to hear what everyone is writing.

so... it sounds like borders on tuesday and/or thursday at 6pm each week in november. i'm so excited. i read somewhere that some meetup folks recognize one another by a pencil behind the ear. i love this idea as i'd hate to exuberantly run up to some non-nano dude on a laptop and begin unloading all my writer's block on him. anyone else have a better or more interesting idea than a pencil?

I kind of like the idea of a pencil behind the ear. But then again I'm still just as likely to run up to some random person who is on a laptop to unload my writer's block or pester with questions about the realism of the plot ect....
We could also maybe put a Nano participant on the backs of our laptops. They have those one badges you can use for other sites, we could print them out and place them on our laptops? Just throwing an idea out there :)

This is a wonderful idea...except I am not free on Tuesdays or Thursdays. On Tuesdays, if it's after 7pm, I can usually make it, but mostly have Mondays and Wednesdays free and that's it. Looks like my schedule this year makes having a NaNo social life rather impossible :(

At the Daytime Kickoff and at the first Tuesday write-in, I'll be wearing my bright yellow nano shirt. You oughta be able to find me. And maybe Nora will bring Gop? Haven't heard from Nora, where is she? Oh, and I'll have a pencil behind the ear, too.

I'm strangely flattered that my "pencil behind the ear" quip has now become our calling card. lol

I thought of another... When you walk into the Frontier, or Borders, or hell, anywhere you may find yourself over the course of the next month, just shuffle around muttering "Nano". When you hear "Wrimo" in response, you've found The Collective. You know, like Marco Polo. Worst case scenario: Someone pities your Mork & Mindy fixation.

My only issue against the "pencil behind the ear" is I can't get a pencil to stay behind my ear. Perhaps I'll go for the marco polo relation. "Nano"... "wrimo"... or just bug random people on laptops, and grow the nanowrimo community for next year...?!

To be honest, I'm not exactly sure where I'd find a pencil. lol

I was just thinking that I would be able to find a pencil either.

I will just look for a guy in a bright yellow shirt and a bunch of people with laptops. At Flying Star that will probably be easier....since I just left Uptown Borders and everyone has a laptop!

I like the pencil idea or the Marco Polo thingy.

The only thing about Tuesday/Thursdays is that I usually work Tuesdays and on Thursdays 30 Rock is on, which provides me with wayyy too much inspiration than it should.

I heard a few people on this thread say that other days would work better for them. So maybe we could set up some sort of alternative days for these people?

Nora's around, I guess she just hasn't been on the forums? She and I are supposed to go to the midnight kickoff, but I don't know about the daytime kickoff. I have to work on Sunday night, so we'll see...

Also, for those who are unable to make it on Tuesdays and Thursdays, we can always organize write-ins on other days of the week! I might try for a Wednesday night thing, or something on weekends if I happen to be free (which is unlikely; I'm in retail and it's creeping up on holiday season :/).

I was looking forward to the Tue/Thur write ins and then my work also changed my schedule. :0( So other days and times would be beneficial. I work until 830pm Sun thru Thurs next week (my schedule will vary throughout Nov) so even early morning might be a good time for a meet up. I have not yet been to one and am seriously considering the Frontier kickoff gathering (since I don't have to be at work until noon on Sunday and there is an extra hour I can use for sleep ;0) ). So I will continue to watch here and see what evolves. I am a west sider. Has there ever been a write-in at the Borders near Cottonwood? LOL I think I have only been in that Borders once since I have lived here (2years this Nov.) Anyhow would love to meet everyone and enjoy the glow that surrounds writers in action!

The Borders by Cottowood has extremely limited seating and even more limited plugs. I've written in there a few times, and also noticed the unfriendly glares I got. It is difficult to get to the seating area on that location, if only because you have to walk through Borders to get there.

HOWEVER, not far away is a Satellite Coffee which I write in all the time, and they are perfectly happy with groups, especially if coffee is bought, and there are lots of outlets, especially in the back room.

As for when I am available....

Monday after 4, Wednesday after 4, (probably) Saturday early until 3, Sunday up until 3. I won't be able to do my Tuesday/Thursday 2-5 writing in Zimmerman until half way through November because of the shooting schedule for my production class. And my work schedule may be changing.

If anyone wants to do a weekend write in, in the morning, on the West Side, that's where I'll be! During the week I'm by UNM, though.

I know the Satellite you're talking about. It's pretty nice. I think either there or Borders would work well for me. Maybe we can see how it goes, and if Borders is no good, we can move.

Ok I have my write in schedule worked out and anyone who is able to join me during these times is more then welcome to :)

Monday's I'll be at Uptown Borders from 5:30pm to 7pm.

Tuesday's I'll be at Uptown Borders from 2pm to 4pm

Wednesday's I'll be at Uptown Borders from 3pm to 7pm

Thursday's I'll be at the Uptown Borders write ins at 6pm but I'll be arriving at 4 pm if anyone wants to go early.

Wednesday's and Thursdays I'll be there for a long time but those are my main days to write. Weekends are almost out of the question as well as Fridays. The challange of trying to do Nano when you have a toddler :) I'm doing most my writing at Borders or anywhere other then home as an attempt to not get distracted by the TV or cleaning or anything like that. But like I said anyone who wishes to join me at those times is more then welcome to I'll have a pencil behind my ear and a nano thing on my laptop for motivation.
