There's gotta be some more of you up here on the Hill with me. Can we set up some write-ins? Cos that would be fabulous! :D

I am a bit jealous the lucky Capitol Hill people get easier access to the Hugo House write-ins! I plan on going, but two buses to get there is kind of annoying. :-)

I suggest Online Coffee (http://www.onlinecoffeeco.com/) as a good place for write-ins on the hill. Someone should grab the lead on this one. I can't run Cap Hill ones this year, lack of transportation, but I love Online Coffee and the don't care if there's a bunch of writers huddled in the corner.

I'm a quick bus-ride away from the Hill so I could make some write-ins here, just not on Wednesdays or Thursdays.

I'm on capitol hill a lot. And I know of one other NaNo'er who I just got to sign up. Perhaps we could get a midnight write-in planned for the 31 somewhere?

Hi, I also live on Capitol Hill and would love to meet up for regular write-ups. Are there gatherings at Hugo House?

I am going to a Halloween party Saturday night, though, so I might miss the first few hours of Nov. 1 :]

I can make write-ins on Cap Hill Mon, Wed and Fri (Tues and Thurs are reserved for the Southcenter ones Renda's organized) and I can't make weekends (again, Sunday is a Southcenter area write-in).

I work downtown so it'd be easy as pie to shoot up the Hill and go to one. Can someone familiar with the cafes on Cap Hill organize something? It's been a long time since I've lived up there. I used to dig Bauhaus and I know they've got lots of tables on their upper floor.

Hugo House is holding a free write-in on Nov 1 from 1-5. Hugo House is located at 1634 11th Ave, right across from Cal Anderson Park. Plus: Free Coffee :)

I am all over this. Second time through, failed out after 5 days last time (got behind and freaked out about lame plot). As long as there are some write-ins on weekends or after work hours, I am THERE.

cheers to all, Tricia

Shoot, I might have to try to attend. I've never been to Hugo House & I'll still be completely jazzed by candy on Sunday.

Bauhaus or Top Pot would be ok. Or Caffe Vita. Or Faire. So many places.

I never go to Top Pot when I can't sit outside, because their music is so loud. Pity, because I'm a sucker for doughnuts.

I was thinking of checking out Espresso Vivace on Broadway (their old location was sort of loud, but I think that was because of high ceilings, which might not be a problem in their new digs). If they're not too noisy, they might be a good location: they're nice and spacious, and come to think of it, don't they have a (potentially reservable, possibly quieter) back room? Will look into that when I have a chance, if there's interest. I wasn't planning on actually organizing any write-ins when I started writing this post, but who knows? NaNo does funny things to you, I'm starting to realize.

Any interest in middle-of-the-day write-ins, while I'm at it? I freelance, so my schedule is what I make it, most of the time, and daytime hours are likely the least crowded for cafes.

The last few times I've been to Vivace there wireless wasn't working (I'm on a Mac) & they didn't seem to care enough to fix it. Just a warning.

My recommendations are Victrola (Pike), a lot of open space during the day. Also, Six Arms is completely empty, they have wireless & cheap happy hour drinks & food! I will most likely be spending most of my time here.

Hi there,

Sorry, I'm new, but I have a question -- we aren't able to have write-ins on Capitol Hill on Tuesdays and Thursdays b/c of the official ones being held in Tukwila on those nights? Is this a hard and fast rule? For some of us, Tukwila is a good 20 miles away, which speaking for myself is a little difficult to make on a weeknight when you work full time, have kids, etc. . . It would be great to have something a little closer to home . . .

Tuesday_Woman, I'm not sure if you're replying to my earlier post when I mentioned the Tukwila write-ins, but to answer your question, multiple write-ins can and do occur in many locations on the same day/evening. I only mentioned the Tukwila ones because I'm going to those as I live in the Burien area and my bus goes right to Southcenter. I used to live on Capitol Hill, not too far from Hugo House actually, so I most definitely want to make it up there at least once, probably the Halfway party and write-in Renda is hostessing on 11/15.

Hello O_Turtle and others--

I think Six Arms sounds like a good idea--v. atmospheric and with snacks. Any interest in a weekend afternoon (Sunday?) write-in? I'm horribly behind and need to play catch-up. I'm not ready to give up!

Best to all,

Tricia

PS--Anyone up for a Veteran's Day afternoon write-in?? I'm off of work and I suspect others might be as well.

Yes yes yes! I go to Capitol Hill alllll the time. Also, I'm taking a year off from college and all my friends are in other states/too busy to talk to me. So meeting new people could be nice :)

I think a Six Arms write-in would be wonderful!

What days/times works best for everyone?

I am usually off by 1:30 at the latest during the week/end....

This Sunday may be difficult for me but I will know for sure by tonight.

Also, if you message me your email address, I can send a group email out or something of that nature to those interested.

:]

I'd be happy to give Six Arms a try as well. Thanks for stepping up, boggit/Tricia! My Sunday is clear, so schedule away.

I'm also free in the afternoon next Wednesday, Nov. 11.

Looking forward to meeting more Hill writers!

By the way, boggit, I also write long-hand. Luckily I happen to love counting my words--it makes me feel so productive.

In addition to the Six Arms Sunday [that sounds like it is being planned], would anyone have any interest in:

1. Monday Evenings, 7-9pm @ Online Coffee [the 14th and Pine location]
2. Thursday 19th, 6:30p-9pm @ either Vivace [on Broadway] or Kamadi Bros [on Pike]

I'd also suggest something for Saturday mornings, but I don't know how many I could realistically show up to.

Just a thought-- doesn't Vivace have a quiet room set off from the rest of the cafe? I remember that from their old location, and their new space is very similar in layout.

Justin - I work at that Online Coffee location! I don't work there on Mondays, though.
For those who haven't been to the 14th & Pine location has a lot of table space and it's pretty huge!

Mioche - There is a back room at Vivace.

Also for Sunday the official time is at 3 til 6-7ish?
I will try to add this to the calendar but could use whoever is interested to message me with their emails and stuff so I can give full details.
