So, I'm completely new to NaNo, and I just moved to Queen Anne. I was wondering if there's anybody close by (whether a seasoned NaNo pro or fellow novice) who might be up for some coffee shop writing time.

A couple of us are in Belltown and might be happy to meet up in the middle sometime.

Which part of Queen Anne? There are some write-ins for Fremont on Wednesdays if you are on this side of the hill.

I'm actually on Queen Anne! Actually, on the hill, thanks very much, and I'd be happy to meet with you sometime for some serious coffeeshop writing. Are you in upper or lower Queen Anne?

I'm in Magnolia, so lower Queen Anne and Belltown are good for me.

I'm in lower Queen Anne (just off W. Mercer) and would happily meet anywhere in the general vicinity. :)
(The only problem being that I've lived here less than a month so I don't really know where all the good coffee shops are around here. >.< )

Most of the lower Queen Anne coffee places are really packed -- with writers or other people with laptops -- and it can be hard to find a seat. I like Top Pot on the top of the Hill for quiet writing and good doughnuts!
Near Queen Anne and Mercer corner:
Uptown
Cafe Ladro
Starbucks
Top of the Hill near Queen Anne and Boston:
Starbucks
Peets
Cafe Ladro
Teacup - for those who like the other brew!
Welcome to the neighborhood!

Chiming in here, count me as another Queen Anne resident. I'm half way up Queen Anne Ave so the top and bottom of the hill both work for me.

I'm a Queen Anne resident, as well, and would love to meet the other NaNo folks around here!
I didn't know there was a Top Pot so close, either (my explorations of the top of the hill have mostly been limited to Queen Anne Avenue; girlfriend works at the Children's Theater, so I spend most of my time in lower Queen Anne). Thanks for that info, Rosemary_Jones! I definitely second the suggestion to meet there sometime; their donuts are delicious.

I'm in lower Queen Anne and would be happy to join nearby write-ins.

More than welcome to spread the word about Top Pot. They cannot survive on my donut habit alone. Or maybe they can....it's a tempting place.
The Cuban coffee place next to QA Books is also a good writing spot. They have an upstairs area -- or did -- it has been awhile since I've gotten there.

Hi,
I'm a first timer and I live in "lower" Magnolia - as in, Interbay(ish). I've never written a book, or even a short story that I can remember. It's time!

The Cuban coffee place is El Diablo. It's a great place to work, but they don't have their upstairs room anymore.

I'm in Ballard. Just about all the events in the Seattle area are scheduled in the evenings when I can't drink coffee!!
I'd love to meet up around noon in a location that has outlets and good coffee.

Let's get this party started! I can't do noon weekdays (my lunch hour shifts around to much based on how much work I have to do), but I'd be happy to set a regular date for a write-in either a weekday morning (say starting 7:00 AM) or weekend afternoon (maybe starting 1-2-ish).
What's other folks' availability/time preference?

I live on the SPU side of Queen Anne, and I'd love to put in some writing time with fellow writers. I tend to frequent the Teacup or one of the coffee shops on the top of the hill. Let me know when and where and I will try to make it!
I have also been planning a few evening writing times at 5-Spot on the Hilltop. They have a great $5 menu after 10pm, and pints are $1.

I'll be a Queen Anne-ian later this month.
Just bopped in to say thanks for all the great info on good places to write.
One year, I'll remember to avoid moving in November!

1 or 2 is great for me. I'm attending the Ballard Library Monday event and the Meet-up Tuesday one, so Wednesday and Thursday would work.
The battery on my computer won't hold a charge, though, so I need a place where I can plug in.

I'm planning to scope out Top Pot and maybe a couple other potential meeting places over my lunch hour tomorrow to see if they'd be good for a small group to meet and write at (mainly looking for outlets, really).
If I can find one, I'll try to slot something in between the other write-ins on the calendar so we can hopefully have some local Queen Anne writing-together goodness.
Is there anyone else who'd be able to do mornings (say 7:00-8:30 or so)? Or should I look for a day with an early afternoon free?

I scoped out Top Pot this afternoon, and they would work alright as a meeting place. There aren't any outlets for the central tables, but anyone who needed one could move to the counter that lines the windows and has pairs of outlets available every few feet.
I'm still pondering when would be the best time to try and get people there, though. Would anyone show up 7-8:30 AM Friday mornings, or would I be sitting a lonely vigil with my donut and MacBook? I do pretty much all of my writing in the mornings, because by evening I'm frazzled and tired.

Guess it would indeed be a lonely vigil. I'll just have to borrow my girlfriend's car and go to some of the write-ins north or south of the city, I suppose.

I'm on Queen Anne Queen Anne - smack dab in the middle- and would be available for noon writes, say at Diablo, or even down on 15th at the new Whole Foods. Gotta be honest, 7am writing is not too realistic for me.
