Hello everyone! There is a 24-hour Second Cup at the corner of Milton and Parc (near McGill University, also near the Place des Arts metro station), and I intend to sit there and write all night (or as long as I can stay awake!). If anyone else is interested in joining me, let me know what days you're free - I'm open to suggestions! My only request is that it be the night of November 3rd or later, since I have midterms on both the 2nd and 3rd. The more the merrier, and of course the more people there, the easier it will be to stay awake throughout the night.

If anyone is curious as to how to get there, it is about a 5 minute walk up Parc from the Place des Arts metro station, or alternatively you can take the 80 bus which usually runs at intervals of 10 minutes or less (during rush hour, this bus is the 535 and runs at about 5 min intervals, and at night there is the 365).

I'm down for an all-night write-in on November 4 if you agree. I finish class at 9pm nearby.

That's a bit far for me, and I doubt I could pull an all-nighter even if I wanted to, but if you guys can settle on a date, I might show up for a little while.

it's not too far for me. I might show up, too, depending on when it is. I will definitely not participate in an all-nighter since I'm pretty much useless for anything past midnight!! But I wont discourage those who want to. Kind of sounds fun, actually!

Wednesday the 4th sounds fine to me but before making it official lets wait and see if anyone else wants to come and can't make it on that particular day. Is that the only day you can make it sugasweets?

Wednesdays are still the date for the regular get-togethers at Central Station. Perhaps the all-nighter should start after?

I might be able to pull off November 4th, and it would be way harder for my husband to try and foist the baby off on me if I'm not at home.... That sounded bad. It's just that I work and go to school and he doesn't so that's why the sort of passive-agressive term 'foist' was used....

Hope to be able to join you. Getting a head start would be awesome, and maybe if I procrastinate I can do some school work too!

I'm starting to think I'll see you then!

I would be keen on attending on Wednesday the fourth around about ten thirty at night, after class.

Thursday the fifth would be super sweet though, all night into Friday morning means less of the week of work left.

I can now say that I officially am going to make the November 4th all night write-in. I will be writing all night, unless we get thrown out. I hope some of you can make it, since an all-night write in will be long as hell by myself.

Should we post it on the get together thread to confirm the date, place and time and reiterate that anyone can come for any length of time?

I'm available other nights as well, but I'll definitely be at 2nd cup on Nov 4 if anyone else was planning to join me.
Cannot. Wait.

Well it looks like November 4th works for everyone who's interested so far, so I think we can settle on that date :) I'm not sure yet what time I'll be there at, I'll post that when I know, but I'll try my best to make it for 9. Also I'm going to try to bring a power bar because I don't remember what the plug situation is like there.

If any all-nighters come to the Central Station get-together, they could travel to Milton&Park in a group. If I have my car (unlikely but possible) and there are only four of them I could drive the whole gang there at nine on my way home.

I'm very tempted to try an all-nighter. It's just I don't want it to clash with my school work. I will definetaly consider coming to the next meeting though.

What's the official time to meet up at Second Cup by the way?

If ou mean the Second Cup at Central Station, it's usually 7pm. If you mean the all-nighter, probably the same time, or just after the Central Station one (maybe around 9?). There should be some amount of lifts available for people who want to go to both, as Hendrik mentioned above.

If not an actual lift (don't know if I have the car that night yet) there will probably be a gang going together on the metro, singing novel-writing songs at the top of their lungs. Or not. Anybody know any novel-writing songs?

So I think the meeting time will be 9pm, or just after the central station meeting for anyone going to that. Unfortunately unless anything gets changed around for me schedule-wise, I won't be going to the central station meeting. If anyone gets lost you can call me as I'm pretty familiar with the area, and can hopefully get you found again.

As I said I'll be bringing a power bar with me, but it only has 4 plugs and I'm not sure how many people we'll be. Maybe we can take turns plugging in if no one else has a power bar :)

I will come out after class, around about ten thirty at night, and see how long (hopefully all night and still be functional for a full day of work on Thursday!) I can last without starting to type and talk gibberish.

I'm probably coming to the all-nighter, gotta get caught up in word count. I'll try and sleep tonight and tomorrow night so I can kick butt on wednesday. I'll try to bring a power bar too.

See you there I hope!

I'm definitely down for joining, maybe not all night, as I have class the next morning at 1030, but at least til the wee hours of the morning. How will we know each other? There are always a bazillion people studying who will look like Nanowrimo-ers.

Hi! I certainly would love to come in for an all-night write-in if there ever is another one. For today (yes, I checked this thing late), I can't because I have some papers to finish.

So, hm, great concept, will there be more?

We can definitely try to set up more, we'll have to figure out another day when people can come by. I'll try to be there before 9 to find somewhere to sit, hopefully near the back. I'll probably be wearing a brown McGill sweater, I've got red hair and glasses, and I'll have a white macbook out... I'll stick a paper to it that says NaNoWriMo, that should make it easier to find each other. If anyone will be getting there earlier feel free to make your own sign. I'll check back here before heading out tomorrow.

It looks more likely that I'll have the car, if only so I can rush home in case my son (who has had all his wisdom teeth taken out today) suddenly needs me. So if I'm still there at 9 (likely), there'll be room in the car for another three to ride to the all-nighter.

As to how to recognize each other there, do you have yous nanowrimo stickers on your laptop tops? That's a clue, especially effective if you have the stickers facing where people coming in can see them.

We used to have a few psychic ferrets to point the way, but they aren't around any more.

I might come depending what time my guests leave. I don't know about an all nighter though since I'm basically screwed if I decided I wanted to go home sometime before 6 am.

I'm having house guests so I could only estimate a 10:30 arrival if I came. I'm really uncertain about it though.

So here I am at second cup and it dawns on me that I don't recognize anyone that might be coming tonight and I'm too embarrassed to ask random strangers if they're here for the all night write-in. So if anyone is here yet, I'm by the fireplace near the door wearing a bright pink shirt and glasses on a red laptop with a ponytail in my hair. Don't leave me here alone ;_;

I'm there now. I'm the chick with the pink shirt and scarf, sitting with my Rwandan friend. He's leaving soon so a seat will free up. I'm in the sofa chairs. Hope to see someone here. I see red-head dude. I'll go over and talk a little later.
